Pepper Place Festival

Saturday, we had made plans. Never mind I did not sleep one minute, we set out to go to Pepper Place. It is the site of the former Dr. Pepper Plant. Saturday was the market day. There is always music in three or four locations other than the fresh produce, prepared food, some ice cream vendors, car shows, and other things I have never seen.

I was so tired! We grabbed several pieces of pizza, cold from the refrigerator, bottles of water, and set out with clothes we threw on. It closes at noon, so we had to hurry to get there before it closed.

Last year, we parked in the apartment complex abutting the street festival. This time we were sad there-n was a car show (electric) in the parking lot. One side had cones that made us turn around.  So, I annoyed Tommy until he went in the other side of the tiny parking lot. There were several parking places there. He refused to back into a place. He is a horrible backing-upper anyway. I was going to have to sit facing the sun and nothing.

I asked if he would send someone to back the car into the parking spot. He did and I could see people, their bags of loot, little kids' antics and the edge of the festival. So little makes me happy!

Twice, I called Tommy, the last time to tell him people were packing up. I had told him to get tomatoes and little crook-neck yellow squash and anything else he wanted to eat or we would like, pastry, produce or whatever. I sent money in case he found something not produce. The card was my $50 produce card for seniors. It expires soon.

The second time I called him, he said he was on his way back with tomatoes, squash, and Beauregards. i think I shrieked. Those are my favorite sweet potatoes.

Then, he bought ice cream from Jeni's, right next to where I was in the car. We ate the ice cream in the car.

The guy who reparked the car, backing in, had an electric car right next to my window. The hood and trunk were both open. Someone had placed a purse in the trunk. Just before people left, three women were laughing and talking to him. Then, they all dumped, purses, bags and other items in the trunk and slammed it. When he returned I asked him about the purses in his trunk. He said it was his front trunk and pointed to the still open "back trunk." "It's electric" he said. Apparently, all the cars were electric.

I watched as a Tesla entertained people with its doors that could flap up and down like a bird.

We did nothing else even though we had a list of chores to accomplish in the next few days. We came home and I slept a whole two hours! I was so disappointed.

Tomorrow, I will consume at least some of our bounty--tomatoes in salads, squash with onions, baked Beauregards plain. There is no need for butter or sugar.

We had a wonderful Saturday. He is so tired and hurting, he can barely walk. We will go back every Saturday there is no rain until I have spent all of the $26 left. So I imagine he will spend it all next time we go.

    1. Belinda,
It is fun. I even enjoyed sitting the car. One day, we will get two electric wheelchairs!
