Rubber Ducky Skeleton/Dragonfly Swarm

The curio cabinet is still sitting full of broken glass. And, I still don't have the bed I bought! Most of the cards are still on the floor as I can only bend that far so many times.

I moved things of mine so Tommy can get to his chair without having to leave his walker so far from his chair.

When I went into my bedroom, I found a plastic shoebox with more items. One, a packet of manilla envelopes, made me happy.

I bought the thickest, boneless pork chops I have ever seen. Tommy refused to have his cooked in sauce for pork chops. So, he cooked his then added the other two chops I had cut in pieces to the sauce. I just hope this sauce is same as one my family loved long ago. We will have leftover baked potatoes and green beans with the chops.

I spotted a duck skeleton, similar to a rubber ducky. There was no tag, no more on the shelf. Now, I own about six rubber duckies that I could nor leave behind.

The pork chop was tougher than I expected. But, it was delicious! I really prefer very thin chops, I suppose.

Going down the ramp on Thursday, I had a dragonfly approach me several times. I looked around and was surrounded by dragonflies. Tommy said there were 20 or thirty around me and more all over the yard. We never see more than one or two. I wonder what was up. The weather is beautiful, drier and just a bit cooler here. How is your weather?

Janet sent me a birthday present on my birthday. She sent a purse, a pink purse. I wanted a pink purse, so great gift. Tommy replaced my expensive and beloved necklace that I lost. I now suspect it was stolen, and I know who did it, but no proof. Since my phone and necklace were in close proximity and the cleaner who was here just abruptly  quit coming, I suspect it was her.

Got Rid of TelemarketersI Yardsale

The guy promised me my bed today. Today, I talked to him and he guaranteed I would get it sometime this weekend. I am annoyed.

After I went to my graduation from therapy, I hit the sale across the street. I bought a curio cabinet for $35. It is small, about 7 feet by 20 inches wide, lights 5 or 6 shelves, mirrored back, glass shelves--the usual. It is sitting right next to front door, blocking Tommy getting to his chair. He is not happy. I am trying to get mower to move things around in the house. He is not answering his phone. Just now, half the pieces of glass clattered to the bottom, breaking most of it....grrr!

I also got an old walker that I intend to keep outdoors, about 50 books in tote bag, green square saucer. Plus, there was a plastic box of least $200.00 worth of cards with envelopes and gift bags. The cards are for many occasions. I won't need to buy Christmas cards for many years. Most of the gift bags are new and all sizes, especially smaller. There is beautiful tissue in Christmas designs. I found magnetic clips that are Christmas clothes pins to place on refrigerator where you can clip pictures, cards or whatever.

Tommy managed to spill the whole thing in the hall. He picked up enough to come back down the hall. I told him to do so. Now, I am picking them up a handful at a time. He cannot bend so far, so he would have to pick them up with a reacher.

I spent a total of $60 today.

I was being driven crazy by telemarketers. Finally, when one would ask for me, I said, "she is dead.?"

IT WORKED. Now, I will probably have to fight tooth and nail to prove I am not dead.

Yard Sale Purchase

Thursday was a very good day. Finally, I feel much better. We bought groceries today. Tommy made a return for me.

We bought the largest pot of mums, tall and very full, lavender. I have a huge pot that I will fill with small pots and sit the mums in their original pot on top. It needs to be raised.

Coming from Publix, I saw a yard sale. Well, the guy was putting things out. We went back and there were two iron beds. Tommy purchased the queen-sized one for me. The guy only wanted $60! Someone will deliver it tomorrow. The design is beautiful. It is finished to look rusty, not my favorite finish. But, it can be painted.

We stayed out until almost dark. Of course, dark comes earlier now. He suggested having KFC for me and for him Captain D's. They are next door to each other, so we shopped at both for dinner.

I have bought my own pt equipment, small things. In addition to the three things I bought, they gave me the elastic bands for strength. I will have my own little gym soon. I suppose Tommy will use all this after his hip replacement.

Since the guy across the street was buried, his family is preparing for a yard sale tomorrow. I left a note, saying I needed a queen-sized bed frame and a bookcase. I suppose I will go over with my walker and see how long I can look, rather stand. I left the note before I found the iron bed. We may keep and use both if they even have one.

After almost a month of no rain, we finally had a whole day of rain, almost 2.5 inches. We needed it. And, the temperatures are a little less hot and humid. How has rain and temperature been where you live?

Lately

I spent most of Monday night in the bathroom, like peeing every ten minutes. Finally, I slept until 1 pm. It was as though I was never ill. That did not last long. Soon, I was back in the same condition--sore, brain fog,  tired, lethargic, dizzy, unsteady on my feet, achy. I feel worse every day. We go out with a few chores, and I can only last through two items on the list.

Yesterday, the three deer sold that have been lying on the porch since earlier in the year. That got rid of the three ribbons for the necks, an eyesore in the living room. I called a nursery about purchasing trees to be planted next month. I am in the process of shopping for a new front door. The Anderson doors are not what I expected! I saw some at Lowe's that we may get. If we have time, we may shop for paint for the inside of the house.

We have fhew groceries to buy, all bogo or a good sale elsewhere.

We are working on Auburn time. Chores need to be done so we can be home by 2:30 pm when the game starts. He will ask me what happened when he is out of the room. Who scored? I tell him there was lots of running, then yelling, and someone scored. I am not a very good reporter.

Our neighbor died, funeral is 2 pm Monday. Tommy has a very important doctor appointment at 2 pm.  I hate to miss this funeral.

The heat is still high but without the humidity. It is very nice outdoors even in the 90s! I suppose the story is the same most places.

We may get mums tomorrow. That will brighten up the porch. Oh, Tommy will allow me to have flowers in the yard with the trees. YAY!

Ten Days

This will not be edited!   For ten days, I have been exhausted, literally drained without the least bit of exertion. I went to pt and was worked hard and left shaking. Since I did not feel this way ever in pt, I knew something was wrong. Finally, on Friday night on a bathroom trip, I was screaming with UTI pain.

Thankfully, I had AZO and started  For some reason, we talked about dr and did not go. Sunday, he said he was taking me to doctor. Urgent care, both of them, were closed, one for renovation. We drove to another city and found AFC. I knew I was in good hands.

Soon, I had the nicest np ever and came home with two prescriptions. It is   eight hours later. I feel like I will live. lol

Tommy suggested we eat at Chic fil A right across from AFC. My healing started with chicken.  lol

He says we have 5-10 packages of ground beef in freezer. I am not over stocking. I just do not want to pay a higher price later. We do eat meat every day. No lectures.

I think our neighbor might have died. He was in hospice, and daughter and son were there. Now, no one is there. He saved me from further injury when I fell off the porch. I took food over to him for months until he could no longer eat.

I am still working on Duchovny's poetry. It has been several days since I felt like reading.

Tommy and I took our walkers into a thrift store to look for a lid for a new skillet I bought that did not come with a lid. We found one for $0.99. Then, I turned around and found books. We left taking one lid that cost $49.99.

On the way out and in line I talked to a grandmother who brought grandsons in to buy one book each. I talked to  older boy (7) and younger boy, including all three in the conversation about reading. I shared how I turned a recalcitrant non-reader around and how he was now a hs English teacher. The grandmother thanked me, telling me she had learned lots from me.

I talk to children when I get the chance, especially little boys, and share books to read. This is my mission--to inspire little boys to read. Girls too, but they are easier. This conversation was in midst of my illness. I was inspired to finally get my PhD. Maybe it was the fever.

I have gone to bathroom about ten times since I started typing.

Out of Date

I opened this page to write, got sidetracked talking to Tommy and have no idea what I was going to relay.

Here is something else. The concrete driveway is covered with shriveled up, dead worms. Occasionally, we find one worm but not so many. Anyone know what is happening?

The reports say that hummingbirds are migrating South.  Last week I was talking to a nurse when I saw a hummingbird near my sparse, halfdead flowers. I was breathless when I told Tommy. Then, the hummingbird came to the storm door, flitted around, turning its head to view all the room. I was whispering breathlessly, telling Tommy what was happening. The nurse, whispered," Aawww."

Tommy was not enchanted. He said it only saw its reflection. I don't think so.

Today, we bought Sure Jell with date of August 2024 and found dozen or so almanacs with 2024 date. Other items are past date. I have never seen so many.

At Physical therapy two weeks ago, the woman stumbled into me, kicking the end of big toe and next toe. Then, she stepped hard on both toes. She mumbled 'sorry' one time but said, "It was an accident" at least a dozen times. Finally, after two weeks of agony from my swollen toe,  bleeding under the nail, I finally talked with the director. There were so many things she did wrong once I got started. I did not want her to get in trouble, but more than the injury, she was not doing her job when with me. The other two pt have been excellent. Things are better. But, my left knee was also injured in the fall last March. So, going to ortho for that.

During the time not reporting on my steps, I often did 20,000 steps. I still love this machine.

The house next door that abused dogs is still a problem. We were told there were rats living in the junk in the carport. Tommy went to read a notice on the door and said the house door stinks and has flies all over. A friend who went into the house said there is stuff rotting in the refrigerator and flies inside and roaches all over.

The woman next door went out her front door to go to the mailbox and came back to the door where she found a snake caught in the storm door where he could not get loose, caught by his head. So, it was right under her feet when she walked out. Then, we found a snake skin on the driveway.  Mosquitoes are abundant from the tall grass. I just wonder what is under our house.

One of my readers offered me a wheelchair and a walker. We met halfway for the transfer. He put the walker together. A couple of weeks ago, a leg on his walker broke. It is a wonder it did not disembowel him! He would not believe me when I told him the leg broke. So, I allowed (encouraged) him to use mine until he buys another. It is orange, an Auburn color. Thank you, Merrit!

I wanted Five Guys burger and fries. Tommy was horrified when he came out. Two burgers, Coke, and one fries order was $40.

One day, we ate at Jim N Nicks. Delicious and not so expensive. We both have wanted Chinese for several years. Anne recommended Red Pearl. So, maybe we will go there Thursday.

Remember, I declared September, all month, my birthday month.

Tommy is going to replace the necklace I lost or was stolen. I thought I lost it in the house from the table next to me. But, it is not there and the last woman who helped me clean was over there. I will not accuse her because I could be wrong.

Now,  I must read more of Duchovny.

The weather is still very hot, but we are spared from the rain and suffocating air. How is it where you live?

"About Time"

Today was a productive day, low key, easy--my favorite kind of day. I got lots of phone calls made. We took a sandwich when we went out for hours.

I searched for a plate hanger and gave up. I searched for an over-the-door hanger. I need one to hang my clothes on, the kind with an arm to hang multiple items on since I don't dry any of my clothing in a dryer. Turning to Amazon, the order was soon secured. I love Amazon! the cost to me is about $7/month.

Tommy now must hang and remove items I hung on the door. With his upcoming operation, I need to be able to do more things for myself. Now, he says reaching up so far hurts him, too.

Today, Tommy took my produce card to market. I tell him to get whatever and tomatoes. He has bought honey and other items. Today, he bought four tomatoes--two Cherokee purple and two Brandwine pink. My dinner was one of the Cherokee Purple with salad with chicken in it.

Last week, I discovered David Duchovny had written a book of poetry--About Time. Duchovny is one of my two heartthrobs. Glen Ford is the other. When I heard Duchovny married Tea Leone, I really disliked her...lol.

The book was not available here, so I ordered it from Amazon. I highly recommend the short book. I read some of it to Tommy when we had a short wait in the car. He liked it. Duchovny graduated from Princeton with BA in literature and an MA from Yale in Lit. His introduction was filled with quotes I was quite familiar with since I followed his path.

This post has not been edited. I am too tired.

Anne, you mentioned Blue Pearl and Black Pearl. Which did you say was the better Chinese restaurant?

Tommy has mellowed lots. He would scream at me and afib started. I told him this and he has backed off, thankfully.

He has even started smiling or even laughing at things I say, just silly things.

From things he has said or his lack of denial, it seems we are completely redoing this house, paint, cabinets, old bathroom in addition the new one in a bedroom. He is very agreeable. Mold and asbestos (if any) will be removed. Well, we know there is mold in the attic.

Okay, off to read About Time.

So Confused

I have paid someone almost $300 to get nothing accomplished toward getting PP back up and running. I had so many comments that I did not find. I am going to comment on all of them now.

Tommy is going to have a hip replacement. I did fracture my hip. I injured my other hip, too. I still feel as ill as I did the day I came home from the hospital. I am not sure what is wrong with me.

The guy who was going to put a bathroom in one of the bedrooms has not showed up in five weeks. We wanted to get that done before Tommy had hip surgery. He took two antique lamps to rewire and has not returned them. he doctor will send him home the day after the hip replacement and nurses will come here, pt, too.

It appears from talking with Tommy that we are rewiring house, too, maybe new and more cabinets and painting. We need a new refrigerator

I finally found someone to clean. She will also drive people to doctor, can be paid by Medicare. We are her first client.

Meetsy, Google won't let me in some blogs.

So, I am here until I can figure something out.

Oh, on one of these short "where am I?" posts, I had 3015 comments! I cannot handle that...lol. So, I will read and answer anything I have not addressed here.
