Really, I had still not gotten over going to Cullman on Thursday and Saturday, church on Sunday, and shopping one day. But, we set out early this morning with a list of things to do.
About 8 am a man called in answer to an ad I placed to sell the live trap, the one for raccoons. We thought we were going to a lunch, but it was cancelled. So, I called the guy who met me and was going to pay $5 for the trap. He only brought a $20 bill. I had put money back into Tommy's wallet for him while he drove, and I knew he only had that $1 and a $20. I had 2 $20 bills and a $1. The place where I met him could not give him change.
He laughed and told me he would give me $5 later. I took the $20 from his hand and told him I would give him his $15 later. He playfully snatched it back and offered me $3 for the trap. I told him no and he remembered he had quarters. It turned out he only had 7 quarters. So, I gave him the trap for $4.75. I think I was had! If I had not been so tired, I would have told him to go find another twenty-five cents.
At the PO, I hit the jackpot. I got a Happy 1/2 Birthday card from KFC--buy one meal and get one free. Nice! Plus I received a check for $40 from this research at UAB, the gardening one. By this time, it was almost lunch, so we went to get out KFC. I bought our lunch with the card and part of the $40.
I had chicken for sandwiches if I had known there was no lunch today. But, free KFC worked.
I shopped--eggs, maple syrup, slaw mix, bananas, and strawberries. Strawberries were 3 1-quart packages for $5--$1.67 each. They were at Publix and looked delicious.
Back here, I bought potatoes--5 lbs. for $2, bought two bags. I really want potato broccoli soup again.
The polls were empty. I walked right in and voted with no one in front of me. So, that is done.
Since 5 pm when we arrived here, I have done nothing...okay, ate a KFC donut with milk. My body is trembling with pain. I drove home, so my hands hurt, too.
The best part of the day--I received money to buy a pink purse. I have wanted one for years. It is a SAK and so pretty and pink. It was reduced and had a coupon.
Tonight for dinner--chicken seasoned with some Applewood herbs, steamed broccoli, slaw. This will be easy since the chicken is cooked and slaw and steamed broccoli are no-brainers.
I think I did well today and need to keep up the momentum on making money. How was your day and bargains.

I Found Two Dongles and Foiled the Raccoon
When I stopped using the old laptop, I took the dongle out of it and it disappeared. The same thing had happened last summer when I tried to get the laptop to work better. Sooo, I bought another (3rd)wireless mouse. Of course, it had its own dongle. One day last week, I spotted a dongle on the floor. This weekend, I found the other. I had searched for each of these for months and finally bought the third! Isn't that the way it always goes? Now, where did I put the two useless mouses?
I read wireless mouses were $50. Wow, these were about $12.
Since dongles are so tiny, they are easily lost. They fit into a usb port of the laptop and have only a tiny bit of plastic showing, and they just disappear into thin air when dropped. I know the two wireless mouses are in a bag, so when I find them and make sure the other two wireless mouses work, I will take back the very new one.
Wednesday night, I had the slice of Strawberry cake as a snack and then had chicken to offset the carbs. The chicken did not go into my stomach and trying to get it to go down with water only complicated the matter. I actually thought I was going to die. SERIOUSLY!!! I could not speak to use the phone. I was ill, throwing up and having it come out my nose and aspirating water or chicken. My esophagus hurt for hours. It was horrendous. This was what my appointment Tuesday morning was all about.
Okay, picture this. The garbage can has four sides. The handle/wheel side, the opposite side, and two shorter sides. The can is against the porch where the steps go up. On the handle and wheel side, I have tied a bungee cord leaving two equal lengths. The opposite side is against the porch steps. The looped cord goes across the lid and hooks onto the railing, the vertical part of the railing. I don't think the raccoon can get this loose.
I went out at about 5 pm and the raccoon had pulled out a tiny bag the night before. When I went out at 7pm to put the bag in the can and put the garbage in for tomorrow, the tiny bag was in a different place. Actually, it was a possum.
Tomorrow, I will ask Animal Control to come set my trap. I usually only call them when I have a raccoon, but this will change. At least I am not asking them to bring and lend me a trap. I have my own trap. Okay, I did nothing today. So, I will call Monday when my favorite Animal Control Officer will be working. He is the brother of one of my daughter's friends. Nice guy.
I will make a salad for dinner and get some stuff out of the floor in the front seat of the car. I have low expectations for the rest of the day. I will not disappoint.

Kitty, Raccoon, Meth Addicts, Free Blueberries and Free Eggs
My friend is not very faithful to return my garbage can to the house because he is busy, forgets, and never drives this way. So, yesterday, I asked him if he would bring it back so I could take garbage from the house. I have unstinky stuff tied up in a bag inside. Some of it is in the freezer. He brought the can from the road to the house yesterday around 8:30 pm.
I will not carry trash out until he comes to take it to the road. He will come get it full of garbage at 10:30 tonight when he gets in from Birmingham.
At 7 pm this evening it was fully light. I heard a great commotion while I was on the phone with Tommy. It scared me. I ran to the window in time to see a raccoon looking around and pacing up and down. I reported the horrid noise source to Tommy and asked him to stay on the phone while I opened the door and looked around. I told him to call 911 if I were attacked as the raccoon might be rabid. The coon was nowhere in sight. Whew!
Since I changed all the trash to a can with a lid, the raccoon has figured out to knock the can over to get trash. I didn't use the bungee cords tonight because it is still empty. I suppose the raccoon comes here to check things out during daylight.
Kitty is nowhere to be seen. I don't blame her for leaving.
A few days ago, someone told me the meth addicts who were here last year had had a visit from the cops because two of the four were on my friend's front porch smoking pot. Tonight, I asked my friend what he had thought of that. He was shocked as he knew nothing of it.
Tonight, he told me that he got rid of the addict who came back, asking for another chance while he got a job. He let him stay, but the guy ate stuff and used his things without asking, so friend told the meth addict he had to go, that it was not working out. Good for him. He is learning.
Another neighbor gave me almost a gallon of blueberries from their bushes. There is a blueberry pie in my future. I love to eat frozen blueberries or to put them in a smoothie. I feel very lucky to have these.
I need to boil a free half-dozen brown eggs and free potatoes. It sounds like I can have free potato salad. But, it won't have celery in it if I have to pay $3.99 for a head of celery!
Today, I have done little. Right now, I am annoyed that my Thursday night shows are not on. Today, I did a little laundry, washed a dish or two, and ate the rest of the other ham lunch. The lunch I ate yesterday had no cheese. The next one had cheese and was much better. Kitty was happy to get the bits of fat with meat attached.
I did bring in a box from the car with napkins, newspapers, all sorts of trash. Well, I have to go through it all and separate it into trash, recyclables, and items to save. The free paper with ads in it and two other inserts for two grocery stores will be my reading tonight.
Do you have a free paper that is delivered that is all ads? These ads are from grocery stores, other establishments and paid ads for things individuals are selling.
Okay. I now know why my Thursday might favorites were not on Wednesday night!
