Stormy Sunday

So, I am posting a picture I took earlier this year. This is from the car while in the driveway of my house. There is a huge lot catty corner to my house. This spot has Purple Prince tulips interspersed. The daffodils and tulips bloom at slightly different times, but for about two weeks, they are both blooming. This is the small group I planted. The huge swath in the back yard was there, but smaller when I moved there.

If the mailbox looks shabby, it is because someone came along the street and bashed everybody's mailboxes for several weeks. So, why buy a new one?

Today, we had terrific rain, wind and lightning. I awoke before then, tried to go back to sleep and lay shivering for an hour. Finally, I went to living room and awoke at 4:30. I was shocked but had slept well for so long!

Tommy discovered the remote did not work, even with new batteries and we went to Spectrum for a new remote. Five minutes before it closed, Tommy went in and came out with a new remote. Since it is next to Publix, Tommy insisted on buying MW for me. The tiny squirt bottle was on sale, but not the 30 oz quart. He paid $8.49! I am flabbergasted.

Maybe I need to spread this more thinly. If I get too much from the jar, I refuse to wipe it back into the jar, so I lick it from the spoon. From now on, I will dip it out more carefully so there is no excess. There was a time not long ago that I paid $1.99 for the 32 oz quart. Yes, I am still burned up about the size of the present "quart." I need a good MW sale and imagine that Labor Day will be the next opportunity to buy MW on sale. MW=Miracle Whip.

I suppose he will have ham, collards, and squash for dinner tonight. I want cottage cheese and canned peaches. Maybe not.

More decluttering happened today, just a bit more than the bare minimum. In the middle of the night when I could not sleep, I went into the back bedroom where there is food. I saw a random trash bag on top of a box. Inside was the trash from the back bathroom that Oksana picked up from the closet floor when she cleaned the bathroom, bedroom and the closet back there. Goodness gracious. That was the end of April! I had no idea she left it in there. So, that bag will be filled to toss.

My heart has been beating so erratically that I am weak. Most of this post I wrote before it started. Thankfully, we will have several dry days and then, still not much rain.

Have you ever had anyone who was beating on mailboxes or destroying them where you have lived?

Not-So-Much Monday

Tuesday, I have something to do and may not have  a chance to write or desire to type. Monday, I had a sandwich for lunch since I was not hungry for breakfast and awoke at 10:30 am. Tommy had vegetables later. I had a craving for brownies. One of the $0.98 pouches of fudge brownies was a treat. I told Tommy we will only have these once each month. He was very agreeable. I used olive oil in them because he hates bananas and I had no applesauce.

Then, for dinner I decided to have salmon croquettes and squash and onions, and grape tomatoes.  Contrary to my usual method of cooking--frying, these croquettes were baked in the oven. I was ready to try them in the air fryer but remembered I had not washed it yet. So, in the oven they went.

The farthest either of us went was to the utility room for Tommy and to the mailbox for me. And, we don't care that we are here with nowhere to go. Well, I had somewhere I wanted to go, but decided against it. I have something to return to Lowe's. But, it will wait.

The cardiologist's nurse called me. He had said the two statin meds he gave me for cholesterol were the only two for me to take. Another doctor, not a cardiologist, gave me one I asked her about. Well, today the cardiologist said he would send that for me. So, there! I have been taking it for several days, and it appears I am not in pain.

I worry about the blockage in my arteries, but I have taken measures to amend my diet. I don't 100% eat right, but everything is altered some to improve my health. I know I need the stint.

Tuesday, Tommy drove me to the doctor. I am home now, and exhausted.

The other two pieces for the air fryer came--on the porch when we got home. While in Cullman I picked up the extra shelf for the freezer.

Dinner tonight will be mostly vegetables and fruit for dessert.

Today was a beautiful day. It was such a contrast to the stormy weather in North Carolina and north of there. How was your day? Any bargains out there? Tomorrow is the day ads change and I do not see anything exciting. Do you?

I Am Gutted

When we pulled into my driveway today, I was gutted to see my picnic table has now been stolen! I sat there too hurt to cry. I felt hollow inside. I work and scrimp and have nice things. Then, renters who will never work for what I had, steal it. And, I cannot afford to even buy a chair to sit in the yard.

I had just come from an MRI of my heart and had bad news on that front. It seems too hard to even live. They had a stack of masks and gloves that a patient could have. I got a mask and a pair of gloves. All the patients were allowed inside, but none of the people who brought them were allowed to enter.

On the way to ER

Yesterday, Wednesday, we drove a round trip of 140 miles for me to go to a nurse practitioner. She has a PhD in nursing and is very patient. With list in hand, I told her I had eleven (11) things to talk about. "Can you, will you listen to all of them? I can come back next Wednesday if you don't have time."

She said, "Let's hear it." We got through the list. Some questions were simple and just requests for refills or for a liquid instead of pills I take. But, my appointment lasted from 1 pm to 4 pm. She worked slowly enough to hear me and respond. Some of the same questions were brushed off or forgotten by other doctor's even though they responded positively to my questions, requests, or needs.

She gave me refills, and liquid meds to replace pills. Then, I had an ekg. She ordered me to ER. I would die in the hospital in Cullman, so I opted to return to Birmingham. Now, in order to keep Tommy off the streets and away from any possibility of catching coronavirus, I am going by ambulance to hospital. Palpitations and chest pains are extraordinary.

There is no need to fuss about my inaction. I just won't post it. By the time you read this, I will be in an ambulance.

Before my appointment we managed to get lots done. Since I felt too bad to make a sandwich, we picked up a small hamburger. The one thing i did not do was make a return to Belk's.

I went to the same bathroom that was icky and found it ickier. The pee had dried. I just left and called the person in charge who assured me she had used it and it was fine. Oh well.  In this bathroom when you look at the commode seat, the light causes your shadow to fall across the seat, so it was hard to see the second time. Or, maybe it is my eyes. lol

Oh, diagnosis from ekg was ischemia.

Good grief, forecast is 78F today!

Body Inventory

(yes, it is a silly title which I typed after I read what I wrote.)

Gee, my arms are scaly after scratching them at the cardiologists office. I did not want to take an allergy pill beforehand which would cause my blood pressure to rise. So, I scratched and scratched and scratched.

Now, not even lotion will cool off the fire! ugh But, you know how scratching one itchy place leads to other scratching. At least I held off and did not draw blood like I have done in the past.

I gave myself a proper manicure instead of filing one nail that has broken and calling it good and putting nail polish on. Before I go to my 55th high school reunion, I may get a manicure from a professional. Probably won't. Some nails are filed straight across and some are filed rounded. I can fix that, but not perfectly.  I just get lazy.

For the last six months at least, I have been cutting my own hair. I have an appointment to get a haircut to even it all up. The last time, I spent five days cutting it, so it is a wonder I have enough to cut. It grew. Thank goodness. This is and is not for the reunion. I am just afraid to cut it before the reunion. I have been told it looks good, but the next time I might not do so well.

Are my big toenails falling off? It appears so. But, I think there is fresh toenail coming in on each big toe. I will wear knee highs with sandals to the reunion, new sandals that are dressy, not the thick sole kind I do love.

If I could just lose 100 pounds before this fall...lol. Sure. I lost 10 lbs. last year and kept it off. Maybe I can do that again, not for the reunion, just for my back and health. I will just use the reunion as the date to get to the 10 lb. loss. As fat as I am, no one is going to notice 10 lbs. loss.

I forgot what the cardiologist said was going on with my heart, but it is not dangerous unless it gets worse. Then, it will be time for meds. So, no worries there. My blood pressure was 118/67 and "good numbers," he said. I asked him, "Do you mean it is good for a fat, old lady or really good?
He said, "These numbers are good for anyone of any age, not just you." He expounded on this and was very smiley and positive. So, I guess I can believe him and get off the weight before it does affect my blood pressure and cause heart disease.

So, losing 10 lbs is my goal, just a small goal on my way to losing more and becoming more healthy. Since I bought new shoes, it seems I am trying to improve things about me.

I was so exhausted when I got back from the doctor's office that I slept all afternoon. At least I don't eat when I am asleep.

So, how did your Friday go? Got plans for the weekend? To lose weight? Do you ever just take stock and decide you can do better about your appearance?

Tommy died

I am distraught! He died at 12:15 am on 3-14.
