Scrambling Eggs and a List

First, something to watch out for with the sound off. The woman is laughing softly. So, you are not missing anything.

 Shopping List so funny!

Monday morning, I decided to make scrambled eggs. Tommy brought me a baking tray, a large bowl and a small bowl. I managed to crack 8 eggs one at a time into the smaller bowl, checking for shells and then dumped one egg at a time into the larger bowl. In the kitchen I managed the beater just fine and strained the eggs.

I dumped all 8 beaten and strained eggs into a skillet that was not quite warm enough to actually cook them. So, I turned the burner up and tried to stand leaning on the stove. When I was in so much pain, I felt I would fall, I called Tommy and asked him to help. My instructions were to keep stirring until the eggs started to clump up, then call me. Don't let them form a brown skim on the eggs. Well, he called me and I could smell browned scrambled eggs! I hate the taste of brown skin on my scrambled eggs. I could see it, too.

Plus, the eggs were very dry and about the size of a small lima bean and smaller. Finally, he said, "Linda, I have never even seen anyone scramble eggs!" Unbelievable.

I spent a long time getting the brown off the eggs and put half away for Tuesday. He had very wisely removed the skillet from the hot eye!

The plan is to scramble two eggs some day and let him watch.

I was fussing about why he did not call me sooner, but he thought it was soon enough when he did call me.

Tuesday, we drove to the doctor's office and Tommy walked in and got me an appointment. I did not feel like arguing with the answering service. I feel so awful that I can barely keep my head up, so I am not sure what I will be like in two weeks.

Tommy got me two bananas from Publix after the trip to get appointment. I had him get me a 16 oz. cup of chicken wild rice soup from Publix. I polished that off as a snack in the middle of the afternoon. I think it has been over a year since I had that soup.

Tommy brought me everything to slice for soup--carrots, potatoes, onion, celery. He had peeled the carrots and potatoes for me. He put it all in the crockpot with two cups of water. He has the diced tomatoes, corn, and green beans on the counter with summer savory. It may be midnight before it is ready to eat. He still needs to brown the hamburger meat.

So, that's my whole day...nothing much, still feverish. It is 7 pm right now, and I feel like I need to go to bed for the night.

The neighbors have turned out to be a nightmare in more ways than the dog. I really don't care about the pool and trampoline and basketball goal and balls of all sorts all over the yard. I do mind the barking still. But, about two months ago, they put a 6' pool out by the road and regularly dump garbage in it. The pool is partially collapsed and has water and trash in it. Lynda was incensed when she saw it, "We are not going to allow this." Maybe she is going to call the city???

The smallest child next door was running and crying. One of the mothers was punishing him by making him run until he started crying. She promised to punish him further if he did not quit crying. That is called child abuse.

Do you make a grocery list for your husband that is illustrated in any way or has extra instructions?

Do you have junky neighbors?

They still have all the junk parked in the carport from their moving in a year ago. The three cars cannot get near the carport. At Christmas, they moved a full bedroom of furniture out there. It is still there, getting rained on when the wind blows it in. I cannot imagine why they don't get rid of it. No one in this whole subdivision has junk around like this house. Lucky us--trash pile and barking dogs.

One Problem Solved

I had Tommy call the guy about getting the trash as part of the deal of giving him things from my yard. He then called me. He told Tommy he did not agree to that. Tommy heard all that happened. He whined and repeatedly told Tommy he did not want to go to jail. Then, he called me and I told him I did not want to hear anymore, just do it. Then, I hung up.

Neither of us threatened him with jail. We used words like--judge, court, subpoena. I did tell him if he did not come to court after getting subpoena, he would be arrested.

About 5:30 when we were in Cullman tonight, he called me. He said he had to go buy garbage bags and he went on and on about me coming to see it now. I told him before we left Cullman, I was going to check. Finally, because I had to go out in the cold to hear him, and my back was hurting, I hung up after telling him I had to go.

We went by and all the trash was gone. Tommy pointed out he did not need garbage bags because there was one of the orange fences in the box that would hold all down with a few of the pieces of wood on top. So, it is done and I can move to the next train wreck.

On the last post a blogger pointed out I could move on to someone else and have the next one be unreliable, too. YES!

We had things to do in Cullman, today. So we went to a Christmas Party and Dinner. There were at least 30 door prizes and we did not win one. Oh, well. We had a dinner of ham, green beans, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce, yeast roll, pound cake and lots of unsweetened tea. We each got a turkey and box of food to make a Christmas dinner. I got one turkey in the freezer and the other wrapped in a blanket. I need to wash the large flat pan to put it on in the refrigerator so it can thaw and not bleed all over the refrigerator. The two boxes of food not cold or frozen will live in the car until tomorrow. I saw a Stovetop Stuffing and a cookie or cake mix in one box and a bunch of cans. So, I will see that soon.

After the dinner and checking my gutter by the road, we went to Publix and to another store where I made a purchase, and entered the $100 grocery giveaway that I won last year. I had nothing in PO Box. rats. I suppose since I get few bills and they don't put junk mail in the PO box, there is rarely anything there. I do get Christmas cards in Tommy's mailbox. YAY!

There was a full moon last night, so the sky should have been really full of light, but it was cloudy. The temp was about 47F, so it was pleasant.

NOW, to the shoes. I bought 2 pair of sandals this summer. Then, I posted I bought a pair of SAS. I know that seems indulgent, so I was trying to explain those were dressy sandals, not ones for support in walking around. I had save to buy the sturdy pair I just bought. That is all. I am not calling the manufacturer. I am not unhappy with any of my sandals. Remember, I tend to buy sandals when I find ones that fit and wear them for years and years. I figure I am set in sandals for quite a few years.

After the meal and Santa and two turkeys, it was a pleasant drive. We listened to Christmas music. Tomorrow, I go to get gift cards for the four grandchildren and take to the PO. My tree is so pretty after putting on all the tinsel/icicles. Tommy said I could tape the Christmas cards to the door, so it is looking more like Christmas.

I am tempted to go and get tiny light to decorate my window like another blogger, forgot who. Speak up if it was you!

Yes, I Had No Bananas

On Wednesday and Thursday, I suffered because I did not have a banana first thing in the morning. Seriously, I like a banana each morning. Nothing seemed to be right until I got bananas on Thursday night. Actually, nothing bad happened; I was just discombobulated all day, wandering about looking for a banana. Last week, I bought nothing but bananas, but not enough. Well, I don't remember buying anything else.

I also went to Walgreen's, CVS, and Publix. The drugstores are next to each other and Publix is across the street. I just went to the drive-up window at WAG to pick up meds. I get notifications texts that a prescription is ready. Then, I get there and they have no idea what I am there to get. The guy who works the window always gets it right. Soooo, I have to go back tomorrow.

At CVS I had to go in. I got the coupons out of the little machine for my card and Tommy's card. I got nothing I need or want or can use. Tommy got a coupon for $0.75 cents off a Hershey bar, which I got and ate. It cost me $0.27. Pads were buy 1 get another for half price. I needed two other things, forgot what, and owed over $40. That was a shock. I did get with the receipt a $2 COUPON.

At Publix, I got strawberries, mustard, and enough food and stuff to come to another $40. Oh, I did get the precooked bacon because I cannot stand long enough to cook it. I want BLTs. I wish Tommy were here to peel and dice potatoes for potato soup since it will hurt my hand.  I hate potato soup but found a recipe that is actually good. I can chop up bacon and put it in the potato soup. also, I HAVE THE BABY CARROTS TO DICE TINY for the potato soup. forgive caps The last bacon I bought to cook stayed here so long it rotted.

Oh, I bought boneless, skinless chicken breasts. BOGO. I cruised the ice cream aisle and did not buy anything. Proud of me? I am. The strawberries and mustard were on sale.

I only bought three bananas because they will draw fruit flies if I get more. On the way into the house, all three bananas fell to the ground with a thud. Shortly, I ate one and it was hugely bruised. Eating the next two should be lovely. NOT!

At Publix I was hoping there was Kraft Medium Cheddar cheese on sale. It was--two 8-ounce chunks for $9. That is no sale! Besides, they were out.

THEN, I drove to the other end of the town and found cheese on sale for $2.99 for an 8 oz. chunk. I bought three. `The young girl who checked me out was so sweet.

Neither grocery store had anything good in their sale buggy or shelf. I was disappointed.

I awoke to recycling and trash gone, thanks to trash guys. They must have gotten the bags without taking the cans to the road. Sometimes, I just throw small bags of trash in the can. From now on, it will all go in big trash bags. Maybe that will make it easier. I am grateful to have it taken.

Checkup

After the problems Tommy has had with his extremely low blood sugar, I begged him to go to his doctor. He had an appointment for today for a regular checkup with doctor who manages his diabetes. Tommy told him about talking to a friend who said he was talking crazy and making no sense, so called for a welfare check numerous times.

Tommy takes an insulin shot morning and night and a pill morning and night. The doctor took him off the evening pill. Hopefully, this works. I call him several times a day to check on him, but I don't tell him why or what I am doing.

The trash my friend put in a new bag was full and very heavy. I was suspicious and went through the trash. Yuck! Not only did I get the wide-mouthed pint Ball jar out, but I found other things. I had a 5lb bag of oyster shell sitting on a far counter, away from where I cook. He asked what it was and told me I no longer had chickens. I pointed out I would again and wanted to keep the bag, not to throw it away. It was in the trash!  It cost about $8.

I need bananas so I will have one in the morning. Maybe I will go to Publix to get some. Maybe I won't.

This morning, I thought I had forgotten to pay a bill. I yanked on clothes and combed my hair. This is the only bill I pay with cash or use  a debit card instead of paying over phone or internet. I was explaining to her how I had been sick and forgot. She said I had come in on July 2, and paid it. I suppose it is better to forget I had made a payment than forget to make a payment. I broke out in a cold sweat when I thought I had to pay a late charge.

I can barely keep my hees open.

Odds and Ends

Tommy and I were talking on the phone when the conversation turned to times to microwaving food. He said he microwaved everything for three minutes, no matter what the food! I was and am shocked. It is no wonder he complains that some foods don't do well when microwaved. Also, he covers nothing, wraps nothing. He proclaimed he had done it this way for thirty years. And, that makes it right???  So, there is no hope.

A couple of weeks ago, I gave him two bare hotdogs for lunch--no bread of any kind in the house. He did have vegetables and fruit and cheese.  Then, the last time I saw him he began describing in ecstatic terms and voice how those were the best hotdogs he had eaten in a year. Well, I found a good brand last year on a great sale, and I hated them. But, we ate them anyway.  So, now we have no more of those nasty things.

He did not know it, but I had bought my favorite brand--Zeigler's-- on sale and had served him those. These are the best hotdogs. Well, I prefer King Cotton, but those are not sold here. They are a brand from Memphis that came here for about a year and then disappeared. It made me sad to see them go.

Moving my trash can to a different location had kept the animals out. However, three nights ago, they discovered it. So, I am back to picking up garbage from the ground. Next week, I will see what a trash can with a lid will do for the situation. I give up.  AND, I forgot to ask my friend to take the trash to the road tonight, so I have to live with this one for another week. ugh

Tuesday night, I slept wrong and woke up with an aching shoulder. When I tried to move my arm, it did not respond, just sort of hanging there. It hurt all day. A nap made it better. Don't ask me how since I was lying on that side during the nap. I got little done today because I felt crummy otherwise.

I could not find a local class for any languages and put aside that goal for right now. Actually, only Spanish is taught around here.  I did decide to do classes for other things. Some are free. Some have a small fee. The hypertufa class was $15 which I will recover by making enough hypertufa items to cover the class and materials costs.

I think my cat might be a Maine Coon Cat. She is huge. And, she does have tufts of hair sticking from her ears. I have always wanted a Maine Coon Cat.  I will ask the vet. Does anyone own one of these?

Does anyone ever microwave everything on the same setting?

Did I get this correct?

This is supposed to be on Practical Parsimony. So, is it showing up on moreparsimony? thi
