On the way to ER in a bit

My heart has been beating erratically for over 24 hours except for little time it stopped and I slept. 11- 2:30 this afternoon. I am trying to get ready. And, Tommy fusses about everything, no asking how I am, not touch to comfort me...nothing.

I insisted he get a new walker before I left because the other one loses a wheel and throws him. All my panties and towels are in the washing machine. Then, I would like him to wash black pants and other things. This can happen later. I need to clean up.

While I was putting prepared veg into the pan with chicken, there was this frantic--what about the potatoes? over and over again! I told him when they are peeled like he prefers, wrap them in foil and place on pan with cooking bag.

If he comes to hospital, I have begged him to come in a Lyft for my sake. I do not need to be worrying in the hospital.

At least, I won't worry about him falling from a faulty walker.

The humidity is dropping, so it is very pleasant even though it is 95 at 6 pm.

Edit--right bundle branch block. In other words, there is no electrical system working in half my heart.

This Post

This post seems like I wrote it before, maybe in my sleep. The feeling of deja vu is so strong. I rarely have this feeling.

This morning we got up earlier than I wanted, washed my hair, got ready and went to downtown Birmingham. We went to the drive-up lane for food from the Greek Festival. We were both eager. We were second in line. We would have been first but for a guy who was entering the wrong way. They rewarded his bad behavior by letting him in line in front of everyone.

We ate at home because we had no desire to walk so far to the tables set up. I was disappointed because I did not get a breast. So, Tommy got my thigh and leg.

Tommy had Souvlakia:

Marinated lamb skewered and grilled on an open fire served with rice pilaf, spanakopita, tiropita, Greek salad, and pita bread.

I had Greek Chicken:

Greek-styled chicken at its finest baked and basted with a marinade of olive oil, lemon juice, and oregano. Served with rice pilaf, spanakopita, tiropita, Greek salad and pita bread.

(straight from the menu)

Tommy did not want a sweet, but I did--chocolate bakalava. I will never eat bakalava again without chocolate chips and chocolate drizzle.

So, this is what we ate:

spanakopita--spinach, cheese, and phyllo

tiropita--egg, cheese, phyllo

bakalava--layered pastry dessert made with chopped nuts and honey and phyllo.

I tried to call my friend in ER last night about 2 am, thinking she might be in a room and might answer. She did not. Friday morning her car was not at her house. Then, Friday afternoon it was there. We pulled up in the driveway. The dog was out, so we knew she was there. Later in the afternoon, she answered the phone. She was on morpine during the time in ER. She has a twisted intestine, a problem she has had before. There is a blockage in her intestine. We took her some food. I forgot that, like me, she will not eat anything but the chicken breast. I took her a cooked thigh that she will give to her dog.

She was going to come to our car to get the food, but I told her to go back. She would not. Tommy yelled at her sort of mean to go back in. She did. He cannot get up her steps without a lot of pain and risking a fall. He did put the box into the house and push it so the door closed. He is surprisingly muscular in his upper body.

So, the ER doctor said she needed surgery. Oh, her car was gone this morning and back in the afternoon because a neighbor went to the hospital and got her last night. THEN, she went to work!  I am appalled.

Then, we drove around the block and talked to a woman who was there at her house.

Do you like Greek food? I do not like lamb but Tommy does. I need to use their spices more. Have you ever had chocolate bakalava?

Soup, Icemaker, ER

The potatoes Tommy peeled and covered with water on Tuesday night, finally went into a potato soup on Wednesday. Additionally, he peeled/scraped carrots while I sliced celery about 1/8 inch thick. Then, I sliced the carrots very thin. All this went into the crockpot with potatoes in chicken broth. Finally, I added kale. It was all quite tasty. I could not locate the bay leaves to add one. Oh well. I added bacon diced small.

After it was done, I had a sample bowl...lol. I decided to take a nap and told Tommy to eat some before it was cold. I told him to get the new bowls so he could have lots without it slopping out. He sometimes lets things overflow when he pushes it to his chair on the walker.

When I got up from my nap, I started cooking chicken in a bag. I had three packages of chicken. One had two huge breasts. The other had two boneless, skinless thighs and two skinless legs. The third had four skinless thighs. So, there is enough meat for a while, plus, as usual, I will freeze several thighs. If I die, Tommy can eat for a month or more without having to cook meat, which he won't do. He will thaw and microwave.

As I started the meat, I commented to him something about what we were having for dinner. He said he had dinner--a huge bowl of soup. I didn't care, just thought he would taste the soup. So, it was a success in his opinion.

Wednesday dawned rainy. I needed to go to Publix for milk, carrots, and celery. Every time we decided to go, the rain started. Finally, we went in a dry spell and it rained cats and dogs about time I got out of the car.

We did nothing on Wednesday to speak of, just piddling things around here that needed to be done. Nothing on the list was accomplished. He did call and get a replacement credit card so I would not have to go from the store to car in the rain again to get his.

Thursday, we went to Publix for my milk that is three half-gallons/$10. They had none and none in the back. So, I got one half-gal. whole milk. My list was left at home. I spent over an hour in the store and only bought three things. I was so disgusted. Nothing went right.

On the way home we saw a fire truck in front of my friend's house. We stopped and she was in the car holding her stomach and crying and shaking/trembling with pain. An ambulance was on the way. I told the ambulance personnel about her concussion. So, we saw her off in the ambulance. She had a serious hernia operation on the right side, but this was on the left side. So, I worry.

Another long-time friend died, not close. It is like a part of my past dies and the world closes a bit. I am trying to stay out of the obituaries!

After I found a countertop icemaker on Amazon, I talked to Tommy. I have enough points/credit on Amazon to get it. He asked about just using one of the freezers. That is actually the best plan. But, I shared my desire to keep the ice clean, sitting upright, and water not spilling or his hands fouling it. Later, I told him there would have to be a dedicated space for it on the little shelf or underneath.

I think he will be serious about the ice now. Before, he was not really concerned about my desire for clean ice. He would put a package of frozen meat on top of it if left to his own devices, claiming it was wrapped and frozen. He is not concerned about anything falling into the trays, frozen or not.

I cannot get any information on my friend except she is still in ER, four hours later.

Tommy got his own dinner--soup, salad, and hamburger. He only had one bowl, so I wondered. He had used a slotted spoon and only had vegetable on his plate with the burger. I might have a lot of broth for me.

Have you ever had a countertop icemaker? Have any experience? I am reading the reviews.

We had rain last night after over 30 days of dry weather. Now, it is just a bit cooler. Late next week, there may be frost just north of here. It is early for frost. Have you had frost in your area?

I am home and okay

I left about 3:30 in an ambulance and returned home at 9 pm in a cab.

No heart problems. It was suggested anxiety over problems was the problem. I second that.  The stress I am under is enough to kill me, and it might!

I did not want Tommy driving with low blood sugar and did not want him in the hospital where Coronavirus might be. But, I could not trust him to eat what he should.

He hates Hormel Roast Beef in the can that looks like a large can of tuna. I had left him with enough roasted chicken for one or two meals. I pointed out the salad stuff and strawberries. For his dinner he had half a can of the roast beef and put the rest in a plastic storage bag in the refrigerator. He knew I would not like it if he set the can in the refrigerator. He ate leaf lettuce with mayo and some of the relish as a dressing...funny. And, he was finishing the cut strawberries as I came home. So, he survived one meal. I am proud of him...lol.

The social worker came to see me and called a cab for me, paying for it out of a fund designated for that. I had told the nurses that I needed a ride home. He was rude.

After two hours of asking everyone that came to me for a mask, I was told they were locked up and they had to use the same one all the shift. I told them I needed one. Finally, a nurse brought me one.

In a bed in the hall I had them lower the head of the bed so I could turn on my side. I pulled my hair over my eyes, hooked my arm through both arms of my bag and took a nap. I really needed a nap.

I was right inside ER for a long time, then moved to a side hall, and then to a room. I use "room" lightly as it had a divided and was in the hall between two elevators. Then, I was put in an exam room. Finally.

It was an ordeal.

When Tommy called for an ambulance, they had to send a fire truck first. One of the firemen was one who came when Tommy was throwing things at me and "raising hell" as the fireman said. It took the ambulance 26 minutes to get me to the ER. They left with no siren, but used it to get around a wreck on the interstate. Then, they drove fast and still used the siren. I felt very unsafe!

Okay, this is enough. Thanks for all the comments on the post yesterday. I will not be commenting/answering those, but I appreciate your concern. Today, I can answer comments.

Tuesday Ugh

I have felt s horrible for the last two weeks, feeling worse each day. Finally, I reached the end.

No edits in this post.

Tuesday, we went to recycling and turned in Coke cans. The price myust have gone down per pound because we only received $2. I supposed that paid for his gas. But, we bought red grapes for him at Aldi for $0.79/lb. He was one happy man. I hate red grapes and like all the rest. At the Farmer's Market, I bought squash and peaches.

Then we went to the church lunch where they have guitars they play. Then, I bought milk at Publix. I did not feel like carrying in two half-gallons, so I just got one half-gallon and something else.

THEN, we went to a food bank. I had him drive me to another to ask a friend for a telephone number. When I arrived the last person had left, so I got food there.

When we got home, I had to at least carry in the food that needed to go in refrigerator and freezer. Then, I got in bread and pastries. I asked a neighbpr wjp is moving to carry four plastic bags to the back porch. I still had to  bring them in!!!

I sat down and told Tommy that I could not fix dinner, I just could not. I was having trouble walking before and now I could barely talk. He insisted he take me to the doctor, so we left.

At the doctor's I sat as soon as I could and told them I could not come to window. They are very nice and signed me in. Two people had to come out for me. They brought a wheel chair. I could barely get into it. They did not insist on weighing me, thank goodness and brought everything in to do vitals.

The doctor was an ass even though he is usually very! nice. He sent me to ER I had the choice of going in ambulance or Tommy taking me. He said he would take me.

I told Tommy I had forgotten to give him the gallon of milk. I had managed to give him all I was going to give him.  I had a bagged salad for him, squash and cucumber to slice in it. He also put my peaches and squash and cucumbers in the refrigerator.
t
At ER they were expecting me. Two people came and got me and parked me in front of desk. The woman said I could make any mark if I could not write. I managed to scrawl my name.I heard her telling sometone over the phone that my speech was affected. I never went to triage. Well, just kept going to a room.

First, I was parked in the hall by a sign "Room 8 hallway."  I asked the woman why I was in the hall having tests done. She said there were no rooms yet and this would spped the whole process.

I had the nicest ER doctor ever. They did all the stuff over again and hooked me up to some sort of monitor. I could read it. OA was 94 until they laid me back and it went of the 97. Blook pressure was 132/63. Bood, I guess. Pulse from 79 to 87. I think that is good.

Then, I had to give them pee. She asked if I could use a bedpan. Not with injuries to my spine. Then, she offered to catharize me. I thought I could use commode. The nurse rolled me to commode and stayed right with me.

I told people who questioned me that I had been too hot for days. I gave them six vials of blood.

The doctor came in and said I had a uti. I was given a shot and prescription. I HAD NO SYMPTOMS!!!!

Earlier, I had called Tommy. He was sitting in his car in front of the house trying to cool off. It was that hot in my house. I told him to go home, that I would get home somehow.

When I got the shot, they would dismiss me in 15 minutes. So, earlier I had called my neighbor and told him to come in 30 min. He took me to get prescription.

I could not climb into the borrowed truck he was driving. I just slid down and the nurse had to grab me and right me. I kept tellinh him I needed a stool. Finally, he said he could pick me up. He put his hands between my legs one from front and other from back and lifted me by my crotch. It worked. I wonder if tht Is something they are taught. ???

I had friend come to catch me if I slumped down getting out. He had to hold me. A we passed my car I wondered why my interior lights were on and looked in. He told me that his truck lights were so high they were shining into my car. As I tried to straighten up an turn and walk, I started thrashing about because I was dizzy and knees were buckling. Friend grabbed me with both hands and I thrashed about a bit more. He said something about my break dancing. I held onto him the rest of the way to the door.

So, that was my very busy and hot ttuesday. This is very hard to type. So, I think I will take a nap. Tonight, it will be cooler and the energy saver thing won't be working. I won't wake up drenched in sweat, not able to breathe.

Today, h came and adjusted ac. got I  off energy saving mode, lowered the temp setting. he cleaned filter, washing it at sink without my asking. now that it wont be 85 in here and I have meds, maybe I will get better.

oh, I talked to tommy who told me he took the six chocolate cupcakes we discussed, saying he 'founf' eclairs and coc chip cookis and took them, too, STINKER!!!

I was not hiding them from him. I was just getting sicker mby the moment. I  whined a lot ehen he tol ne, but it is okay and I told him so. I told him to bring me back at least one éclair, and that it was okay he took all the chocolate. I just love chocolate eclairs and these were bakery ones. so were the cookies and cupcakes.

I came home with a hen, ground pork, sausages, and pack of brats.

some of this is out of order, but it happened...lol.  still feel like throwing up, have headache, off balance, muscle jerka--all things I told er doc. he said that uti in people over 45 can be really bad.

I am alive! For  four or five days, Tommy has offered to come get me and take me to doctor. I will be easier to convince next time.

Tommy died

I am distraught! He died at 12:15 am on 3-14.
