I Won & A Fright

Mine is black, but I was tired of searching for the identical item.

Today, we went to Cullman for several things.

1--pickup lunch that was eat-in before the pandemic. Today, we had Chicken Alfredo. I love penne pasta! There was also mixed, frozen vegetables that seemed to be in a cheese sauce. It looked that way, but Tommy said he could taste no cheese. We traded and he ate some of the Chicken Alfredo and all of the mixed vegetables because it had peas which as you know, I don't eat--allergies. It was delicious.

2 Ag Center had a speaker about bugs. They also had lunch--bbq sandwiches from Johnny's BBQ, where sluggy, Dan, and I ate. We had the pulled pork with slaw on a bun. I did not eat the bun. Also, there were strawberries, fresh pineapple chunks, blueberries, and green grapes. I had a healthy dose of the fruit.

3. Body Shop where he scheduled a trip for his vehicle. That is all set.

At the Ag Center, the guy was to have a trivia question to determine who received the door prize. He put up a slide with two bugs. At his prompt, we all said one was a ladybug. He asked, for the door prize what was the other bug. No one knew. Then, he said it was a country south of us. I immediately said Mexican Beetle. So, I won the water bottle. The sour grape behind me said aloud, "But, she had to have a hint!" Well, then why did she not say the answer. Tommy heard it too! His comment after we left was, "Well, why didn't she say it?" Of course, my exact thought. For a smattering of a second, she made me feel bad. But, I got over that and gloated in my head that I got the aluminum, insulated tumbler, and she could have had it if she had just said it, with a hint, of course.

I did learn a lot of facts about bugs.

It was a hard day. I did not go to a grocery store, just to the PO.

While I was eating, I ate the strawberries first, three. Then, I tackled the fresh pineapple chunks which were huge. I used my fork and Tommy's fork to try to get a smaller piece of pineapple. I did manage to do so. However, when I started eating it, I choked. The bug lecture stopped and people wanted to know if I was okay. I could hear people shuffling about and assumed someone was coming to give me the Heimlich maneuver. For three or four minutes, maybe five, I struggled to stop choking, coughing while Tommy was clapping me on the back as I asked him to do. This really frightened me. I was glad I was where I was for help.

I was too frightened to eat the rest of the pineapple, green grapes, strawberries, or the broccoli I had on my plate. So, I brought it with me in a cup. In the car, I kept reaching for the cup to eat it. I was still too frightened to eat it in the car. Finally, at home, I used a sharp knife to cut the chunks into small pieces, ate it slowly and carefully! My throat still hurts.

Have you ever had anyone imply you won something that took skill, not chance, that you won for another reason? Once I won an award for an accomplishment, but everyone had to vote as to who did best. Well, this woman insisted on three votes that I won every time. Then, she scoffed and said it was just a popularity contest. Okay, I will take that I am popular...lol. jk

Have you ever choked so badly that you were really frightened? Today, I was frightened.

Gunsmoke Chickens + New Pet+ Reading New Book

When we watch Gunsmoke, we both watch what the chickens do as the action goes on around them. Gunsmoke chickens just keep pecking or scratching or walking around. The don't become alarmed as people walk by. They don't mind horses unless one almost steps on a hapless chicken. On many Western movies the chickens are skittish when horses walk up, but not on Gunsmoke.

This tells us the animal handlers and trainers keep chickens where there is action all the time--people, dogs, and horses. It looks more natural than scenes in other movies where the chickens are skittish of even their own people in the scenes.

My chickens were skittish of everyone except Tommy and me. Other people came there, but no one came regularly.

When Sluggy came, the chickens were hard to get settled because she was new. Sluggy thought I was running away from her. But, I was trying to keep my chickens from taking to the bushes or trees. Tommy had known them and they knew him from when they were about three days old and living in the house. I had to warn other people to wait so I could get them in their pen.

Oh, I do remember Gunsmoke from my youth. I would not watch it. I read. I did not like Kitty's trashy earrings, garish makeup, and the beauty spot. I thought she looked cheap. Okay, no criticism of my thoughts. I was really young.

Daddy must have like it or he would made us turn it off. I suppose my brother did, too.

Coming home today from Lowe's, I found a pet I have been wanting. As it crawled around, I captured her, well, Tommy did. He let her loose at home. Hopefully, she and her babies will help protect my flowers next hear. I had been wishing I had a ladybug. At Lowe's I found yellow daffodils and brought them home. I don't want the paperwhites or the yellow daffodils with the orange center. No, we planted nothing today. Since it was 83F, the ground won't be freezing anytime soon.

Saturday night, I started reading A Dog's Purpose. I stayed up too late reading. It is one of the best books I have ever read. Have you ever read it?

Have you had trouble with the time change? I have not. When we change all the clocks, I won't be so confused. The one on the wall is the last one to change since laptop and cells change themselves.

Do you ever notice the Gunsmoke chickens?

Do you encourage ladybugs to stay in your garden or do you ever order them?

I thought I had Stovetop Stuffing, but obviously I don't! So, I will be looking for a couple of boxes of cheap SS for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Everything I need for Thanksgiving and Christmas will be gathered in one place, just to make sure I am not caught short when the holiday is here. I do not want to go out in crowds at the last minute. There may be some in the bedroom, so I will check tomorrow.

Do you have any close experiences with chickens? Anyone else getting things together for Thanksgiving so you know what you have?

Did I get this correct?

This is supposed to be on Practical Parsimony. So, is it showing up on moreparsimony? thi
