Friday Fun

Tommy is in the kitchen cooking and breaking up ground beef. I chopped a whole Vidalia so he can put half in and sweat/cook onions. I sliced and chopped tomatoes we bought Wednesday that are going fast. Chopped tomatoes are for salad fixins. Sliced tomatoes are for a tomato sandwich or two for me. Tommy does not like tomato sandwiches.

Even though I did get nearly enough sleep, I am feeling a bit better. The expectorant for my lungs works well. I have coughed until my ribs hurt.

When I got up at about 2 pm, there was a package waiting for me from a very nice commenter. Now, maybe I won't need to use cloth over my eyes since I now have a sleep mask. A cute glass with top for a straw or sipping. A pretty flower on top of all the gifts in the box--soap, socks, candle, bath bomb, lots of goodies that really lifted my mood and made me smile. Thanks, Bri.

I have quit nonstop coughing. Ears, sinuses, lungs feel clearer. It is not over, but it has eased. For two days, I had suck a headache, especially when I tried to sleep! When I walk, I am wobbly, still. I have had dreams I cannot remember, but they were all disturbing.

Right now, at 6 pm, I am tired but I need to see what is going on in the kitchen.

There are several new products for a2milk. They have formula for infants, protein powder, and have had a creamer out for a long time. The first two are new. For a long time, I have resisted protein powder since I did not know the source. Or, I knew the source and rejected it for that reason. Since I am allergic to peas, I certainly will not use a protein powder with pea protein. I am not the person who makes a fuss when out to eat. Have you tried any new a2milk products?

From 7-9 I had a nap.

I love a birthday surprise!

Today, I managed to cut myself on a clamshell and rip my index fingernail off into the quick! And, I cut myself with a knife. The clamshell hurt more! I finally had to get Tommy to open it. I must say it was the highlight of my day. /s  Are clamshells getting harder to open to you? Not only do they take more effort, they are more complicated.

Do you ever take guaifenesin for chest congestion?

Stolen?

One package from Amazon did not come. I was so annoyed since it was my new, pink set of flannel sheets from Amazon. Finally, I was informed by email that it had arrived. A picture of a package on my front porch comforted me little.

Exactly the opposite was true. I felt targeted by a thief, fearing other packages would be stolen. I fretted over this, internally and aloud. Tommy was a little worried, too. I had been fussing about his mishandling of a package that I had told him to put in the first bedroom. He said he did what I said and put it in my bedroom. Well, no, there were two items in that box. Where is the other item and why did you put a cardboard box in my bedroom when I told you never to do that because I am afraid of a scrape in my skin that will lead to a need for wound care? Neither of us knew what the other was referring to in all these questions.

Finally, I went to the bedroom and looked in the offending cardboard box. There were my sheets.

Before we got to this point, I had gone online and reported them missing from the porch. So, replacements were on the way. It looked like I could have had free sheets. But, I did the right thing and now have to drive to somewhere to return them. UGH!

It is all straightened out, but it has been an ordeal. I was just sitting here wondering how many people say things are stolen just to get a replacement, free. Oh, I remember, I know someone who bragged to me about ten years ago that any package sent to his house (pre-Amazon), he reported it as not received. He has quit telling me about this "trick" but I assume he still does it, just not telling me because I highly disapprove.

We are no longer worried about someone deciding we are targets. Nor are we worried about anyone stealing future packages. Of course, anything is possible.

I am so weary I can barely move my little finger. Yes, I know I typed this. It seems the house condition has regressed since the cleaner was last here!

We have been monitoring how long the produce from the card for UHC have fared--no waste and length of time available to be eaten. So far, no waste. I did have to buy two more apples and bananas today, but that is normal and about three times each week. So far, we have bought no other fruits or vegetables.

Dinner: Me--roasted chicken and enormous amount of slaw. Tommy--remainder of hamburger-vegetable soup, bread. I had grapes.

Have you known anyone who continually stole, cheated and lied, taking advantage of individuals and businesses?

This has been a beautiful, sunny and dry Saturday. We have four more days like this predicted.

Harry and David

Tuesday, as Tommy went out the front door, I realized he was trying to pick up a package. He finally got it up and on his walker seat. All this time, I was wondering what I ordered. Puzzled, I was wracking my brain as to what I ordered. When he finally had the package on his walker and opened the door, he said, "And, it has MY name on it."

"Harry and David! That is expensive!" I knew the name, but he did not. When he opened it, he found:

All this is Harry and David branded.

H&D Dark Chocolate Truffles I hope the package falls open soon.

H&D Three Seed Crackers

H&D Milano Italiano Dry Salami

H&D Sharp White Cheddar

H&D Pepper and Onion Relish Classic Recipe

H&D Premium Mixed Nuts Almonds, Cashews, Walnuts and Pecans

10 Pears and 2 Apples

Inside the Harry and David cardboard Box was a wooden box. Nice!

What a nice surprise for him. He never gets anything. Really, I am not getting anything either, just boxes of supplies, mostly. But, I was very happy for him.

He has never heard of Harry & David. Where has he been?

Have you found a surprise package on your doorstep (PO, Mailbox, top of the car)?

Have you found a real surprise or has anyone in your family?

Wednesday, we went to Cullman and gave the cardinal to our friend. It had wet paint. We told them to be careful. Since I was so late in painting it, it got a coat this morning. Since I think I bought the last spray can of the appropriate can of red paint, I let them use it to add more coats so it can last better outdoors. I went to so many stores and on the internet and red paint was as scarce as TP last year.

I really want to paint one for me, too, and cannot find red paint. Otherwise, I would just have given them the paint. It is not even on Amazon!

Okay, there is more to tell, but I need a nap before it gets too late to nap. It is 6:30 now. I slept last night from 6 am to 8 pm

Merry Christmas if I don't see you before Christmas.

Happiness Wednesday

Except I got about four hours sleep. I was ready to go by 9:30. Tommy suggested we get a Hardee's sausage biscuit. Mmmm. As we headed north to my house, the overcast clouds disappeared and we had a beautiful, glorious sunny day. The wind was a little brisk, but my hair held up because I colored it last night. It blew enough to blind me sometimes as my hair is long enough to wrap around my face.

I mentioned to Tommy he had time to call and get a new garbage can. He said he already did.

At the PO, a blogger send me a surprise--gloves, scarf, and Williams Sonoma dishtowels. There were older and wonderful embroidered pieces, too. There may have been more, but I am too beat to look.

We went to my house and the guy who said he would rescue my rocker from sitting in the dirt and being rained on, finally did. I paid him to do it, so I expected it to be out of rain and mud. It was! Two weeks later!

I went to a food bank and traded most of my food for frozen chicken fingers ready for microwave or oven. I gave them all they wanted, not just even trade. The people were a young homeless couple.

The bank had to order new checks since mine went to the dump. Either that or they are buried in a bag with disparate items.

The last time I went to Belk's. I bought a pretty pink blouse two sizes too small. I have no idea how that happened. Now, I have to find the receipt to determine the sale price I paid.

I got no help and left miffed. Actually, I could stand no longer hanging on to the cart.

However, as I was leaving, I spied a beautiful yellow tshirt, originally $39, now 50% off. Since I had two $10 coupons, the blouse was free! Sweet! The tshirt is silky and a bright lemon yellow. I hate the pale buttery yellow or a yellow with a green cast. Earlier, I had bought a skirt that will require me to shave my legs. It is floral with uneven hem and every bright color on the color wheel. The pink an yellow were what I wanted to match.

Lunch under the picnic tree was Burger King's meal for two for $5--Whopper, Jr, fries, and drink. I gave Tommy most of my fries.

Then, we went out to the sweet potato farm and got 80 lbs of Beauregard sweet potatoes. You may remember Beauregard is my favorite variety, My heart was singing.

We went to my storage unit and while we were there used their very clean bathroom. I saw someone from the near past and we talked for almost two hours.

Ugh!

At some point during the day, I went into CVS, Walgreen's, and Publix on a quest to find little bottles in a six-pack, Minute Maid OJ for Tommy when traveling. I cannot remember where I found them.

Then we had to drive back here bring in all we got, 80 lbs of sweet potatoes, and my free yellow blouse.

The new garbage can was in place!

Tommy died

I am distraught! He died at 12:15 am on 3-14.
