Sunday This and That

Rats! I forgot about the Budweiser Clydesdales in four or five different places right near me this last week! I am disappointed. I remembered in time to go to Cullman, but I have something hard to do on Monday, so I let it go.

Saturday night, I slept about 7 hours and was ready for a looong nap four hours later. Maybe I can just sleep through the winter, hibernate. Actually, a lymph node is swollen on the side of my neck. So, I will struggle to stay well.

Tommy usually disappears into the kitchen at night. Sometimes, I cannot hear him. Other times, I hear little noises. If I go in there, he may be giving himself his night shot of insulin. I don't like to go in when he is giving himself insulin because I might bump him as he turns loose his walker and stands with both hands on the needle. So, I just sit.

Saturday night, he was in there forever and making little noises and then long stretches of silence. Finally, during the little noises, I went in. He was sorting dishes in the sink. He told me he put all the plates in the dishwasher and all the utensils! Glory be! The man is almost tame. I felt bad he did all that. Then, later, he showed me that largest of the plates we have and asked could he mix the sizes. Well, of course. But, I pointed out that putting all the same diameters together would eventually leave a bit more room in the dishwasher. I was nearer the dishwasher, so I told him I would just put it in and not to rearrange.

When we got the dishwasher, he did not know the baskets for the utensils would come out of the dishwasher. When he figured that out, he started removing the basket and taking it to the drawer to put them in their little nooks. Will miracles never end?

Slowly, we are figuring out more items to recycle. It occurred to me that the paper recycling could hold receipts and torn up notes we have written. Now, I need to find out where to recycle other items--dark plastic med containers from prescriptions, glass dark glass med bottles, labels that have sticky on the back, etc.

Composting is something I need to figure out, too. For twenty or so years, I threw apple cores and such into a hole in the edge of my yard. I suppose I only drew critters. No, the raccoons only came for my chickens. But, nothing went into the landfill. Then, I built a compost pile inside a cage of building blocks. Finally, the chickens arrived, and they took care of kitchen scraps. Now, I cannot get into the backyard. So, I am stuck throwing kitchen scraps into the trash. I don't know anyone here who gardens, or I would offer scraps. So, I think about this lots.

My red Kiss is sitting on a table nearby and is very handy for keeping coins.

The low was predicted to be 30F last night and the same for tonight. It is past time to bring in the hummingbird feeders. So, no flowers, no hummingbirds here, just as well since we cannot leave the door open. I am against cold weather.

Sunday night, we took a quick drive to see what was already up for Christmas decorations. There was a Thanksgiving decoration-one white, huge, turkey--inflatable, and lit.

The Christmas movie classics are back, so that is a good thing for me. I love those.

Lazy Sunday

As you can see from the previous post, Saturday was a busy day. I slept well when I went to bed and awoke on Sunday. I was settling down when a nap hit me. At first, I was just going to rest. Once I turned on my left side in the recliner, I noticed I was cold. I put on a zip jacket with a hoodie. I pulled the hoodie over my eyes and the little throw from waist down. That was all it took. I awoke three hours later.

I did stay awake long enough to watch Meet the Press, my absolutely favorite news show. After I awoke, I was achy from lying crooked! I forgot what movie we watched, then went to Publix for milk for Tommy. I had to wait in the car for an electric cart and then wait in line to check out--over an hour for milk!

That was my Sunday, nothing important, exciting or newsworthy.

Dinner--Tommy ate one of the burger patties and cabbage. I ate the leftover pork cutlet and cabbage. Later, I intend to eat salad with tomatoes and carrots.

Even though it is after 8 pm, I have plans: bake something, freeze cabbage, cook another cabbage. Tommy: chop and cook the ground sirloin if it is not rotten.

I suppose I really needed the nap. A trip to the park and another ride around was what I planned. But, my body did what it needed.

How was your Sunday?

So Sad

The perfectly serviceable love seat has been soaked by rain and snow. Someone out there could have used this. Somewhere there is a family that needs it. But, it is lost.

We were up late or early before going to bed. I needed to hang clothes, panties and nightgowns, to dry. My towels and wash cloths were still in the bag. I have no idea why he decided I did not want them dried this time.

I could not sleep all night because my feet were cold. It is drafty on my feet. I finally got up and slipped in here and got my computer and finally put it away when the battery was drained.

Then, I decided to pick up small things on the floor. That hurt my back even sitting on the bed, so I turned to the bedside table and found things, like my nose drops I had misplaced. My ear was hurting from the lack, so I used them. The table still looks messy, but it is a start. Bits of things are gone, like tags, their little plastic that attaches them to clothing, receipts. I found $15--three fives. I must have taken them out after shopping and breaking a $20. That was fun to find.

I came into the living room to look out for snow. None. I was a little hungry but drank a bit of water instead of eating. Eating during the night is one bad habit I don't have and don't want.

Of course, a trip to the bathroom was necessary about every 45 minutes. I was busy all night doing one thing or another.

Finally, at about 7 am, I came back here into the living room and plugged up my laptop. Tommy never missed a beat. Just now he saw a light and my face--laptop light shining on me. About 8 am I went to bed and slept, waking around 1 pm.

The pillowcases, wash cloths and hand towels are ready to put away. A huge package of bscb will be dinner tonight and probably the rest of the week. I need to cook the zucchini tonight or it might spoil! And, we need to empty the dishwasher! That is more than enough for me this afternoon.

It is a dreary Sunday, but that is okay. I have nothing planned, anyway. Maybe we will get the tree and fake poinsettia put away. That's a dream.

Did you get snow? Do you think a loveseat would dry and be useful?

Saturday and Sunday Problems

Plans were made for Saturday morning. And, things got off to a good start. We emptied the dishwasher and loaded it. Tommy was washing a huge pot he did not wash last time. I sat while he was working because I wanted to wash my hair in the sink. He obviously washed everything and then washed the sink, thankfully. I washed my hair, bathed, and started the dishwasher.

Tommy took the jump box to the car and I went out, too. Well, the jump box would not jump off the car. I told him to go get the guy who three weeks ago said he would jump the car with his car. The guy came with tools to remove the battery since Tommy asked him to remove it. He could not get it out. There is a brace from the front of the car to the side. Weird. At some point this guy got a suitcase full of socket wrenches, borrowed from another neighbor.

Tommy had to walk three doors down on thick, wet grass. Then, he could not get to the door because it had no railings. So, he lifted his walker to the porch and went up on his hands to the door, managed to get upright and not fall off and rang the doorbell. The guy took the battery out, finally, and brought the battery to the car. I told Tommy I would drive.

Adjusting his seats is hard for me, and I never got it quite right. But, we went to Auto Zone as I have explained a few paragraphs later in this jumble of writing.

The guy had arrived with the suitcase full of tools and Tommy was not yet home. In a few minutes, I heard Tommy talking and realized he wanted me. I looked back at his car and he was sitting. I asked him what he was saying. He was yelling but nothing made sense. I went back to the car and he had the seat leaning back and nothing he said made sense. I was really frightened. I could understand "drink" and got to the house as fast as I could. That hurt. I brought back orange juice and a real Coke and a package of peanut butter crackers. Every fiber of my being was stressed, hurting, and wanting to cry.

I have to tell you that I always rise to the occasion when there is an emergency.  Another day, I will tell you the story of my mother paralyzed by an emergency.  In an emergency when most people throw up afterwards, my tension is relieved in the other direction. I got this from my father. Mama said he ran for the bathroom after trauma, which was worse than mine on Saturday.

I was in my car and tried to call Tommy for something. Well, AT&T "redirected" my call to them and had a long message about them giving me a new phone and setting me up with 5G. My head almost exploded. They have "redirected" my call about 7 times on Friday and Saturday. I yelled and screamed at them to give me back the service for which I was paying. This woman that I could not understand and barely hear just kept talking about how they were trying to help me.  I got my service back and almost had a heart attack, I am quite sure.

We took the battery to Auto Zone, and they did not have a tester as theirs was broken and parts had not come in. They sent us to Advanced Auto to have them check it and we could bring the battery back to AZ. Advanced Auto could not be bothered to even talk to me as I sat in the car.

After we left Auto Zone, I was light-headed and Tommy was not doing well. We got Burger King.  Finally, we went back to Auto Zone. The guys said that they should have not sent us to the other store. So, we left with a new battery, their idea. But, I have a long history of buying from AZ.

We ate, and went to AT&T store where we are going to get my new flip phone activated. AT&T actually "redirected" my phone again and also twice on Sunday when I was trying to call Tommy to tell him I was leaving a store.

The guy who took the battery out of the car came back over to install the new one when I called him. I was screaming into the phone and he had a funny look on his face. I stopped and told him I was yelling at AT&T. He gave a look of "oh, I see." I used "AT&T" several times in each sentence.  I go ballistic when I talk to ATT and it has gotten worse over the years. I usually just get angry at them and now go ballistic.

He brought another guy with him. It took two of them to get the battery back into the car and the brace reattached to the frame of the car. The car started, a healthy start, nothing whining. THEN, I backed it into Tommy's ramp, scraping paint off the car and doing nothing to the ramp.

We left to get the car washed. That car wash terrifies me. In what world am I supposed to be comfortable with turning loose the wheel putting, the car in neutral or something, and not using the brake? And, then the car is pulled along? So, the car is clean. We made it home and sort of recovered. I forgot what was for dinner. Oh, the burger was dinner and something later at home.

To add insult to injury, I had left my lights on. So, I went back to the car and turned them off. I really did not care at that point. But, I dragged myself out of the house, climbed the incline to the carport, turned off the lights, and got out of the car. Just as I twisted out and got up, the carport light went out. Now, I had to navigate and orient myself at the same time, blinded, trying to figure out how not to step off the carport but go beside the car, figure out where the incline dropped and see the ramp. HE HAD TURNED OFF THE CARPORT LIGHT KNOWING I HAD GONE OUT TO TURN OFF MY LIGHTS!

Oh, he heard about it and he did not seem to care. I yelled at him a bit and he was not sorry for what he did at all. You know the electricity to burn that light another 30 seconds might throw him into bankruptcy.

Sunday, I went to big box to get something. I wanted the date on camera corrected and had another question. So, I took my camera and put it in my pocket as I was able to snag an electric cart in the parking lot. When I got to electronics, about 30 minutes later, I had no camera. And, then I wanted to tell Tommy because I was so upset at the loss. AT&T had redirected me again! I started yelling right in the store. One woman gave me a "go girl" look and gesture. A guy was smiling. I was yelling "ATT cannot keep doing this to me." Once again, I used ATT in each sentence, saying I paid my bill. Yelling in a store is not my way. But, AT&T  causes me to lose all reason and raising!

The camera fell from my pocket as I sat on the electric cart in the parking lot, I suppose. So, gone and not turned in. I hate this new pair of pants. The pocket opening is so low and huge. I need to sew it up so things stay inside. Everything comes out of these pockets.

I finally got into the car and was ready to cry. Fibromyalgia still had me in pain after Saturday. I think that being old and upset wears on a person, too! Saturday was spilling over into Sunday as Sunday went down the drain!

Saturday was so draining. And, then I worried about Tommy. I need to watch out for him better.  He still says he was just thirsty and his mouth was dry on Saturday. No, he was not making sense. And, I lost my camera!!! Sunday just topped off the pain, mental and physical!

Is AT&T redirecting your calls and depriving you of the service for which you pay? As you get older does stress destroy your nerves? I need a vacation from adulting! I am becoming  a crazy lady from AT&T's unabated abuse of their power.

Sunday in Bed and Plans for the Next Week

When Tommy woke me at 8 am as I asked, I was in no condition to get up. I told him i was sick and not going to church. That was the last i heard of anything until noon. I got up to go to bathroom and take a pill. I got back in bed and woke again after 1 pm.

I ate banana and milk and gave myself an injection. Later, I ate a piece of bread and a little cheese. About 4 pm, I went back to bed and asked him to wake me at 7:30. Then, I  heated our dinner, leftovers from Saturday night--baked chicken, green beans, sweet potato, and a halo. I just had chicken and a halo.

In the afternoon, I looked out the door and saw glorious sunshine. So, I went out and got some food out of the car. That one trip wore me out.  For a while, i realized that i was just sitting here on the sofa and moaning and sighing.  Yes, i feel that awful.

Hopefully, tomorrow, I will feel much better. We will see.

This week, we will mostly stay in due to weather and really not having much reason to get out. Since the pink bag with grocery ads did not come, i will have to look up ads online to see if there is anything on sale that i need or is so low i can stock up.

It is almost 9 pm and I hear the bed calling me.

Sunday Doldrums and Nothing Interesting except Celery

A two hour harangue will wear me down faster than a beating. I did survive yesterday! But, I hurt today--bones, muscle, skin.

However, I was not defeated mentally. I did a bit in the kitchen, more than I am usually able to do. The friend who said he was coming back, did not. The woman who was going to work for pay cancelled. CRAP!

The weather was a mix of everything but snow. The skies were sunny and blue with few clouds, then completely high cloudy, then severely overcast. I could see the storm approaching on radar with lots of lightning strikes. When it arrived it was just mild rain, a few sprinkles and no lightning in hearing or sight. The weather is ruled by Barry, and I must say, we are little affected, thankfully.

I went to gas station near the little flood with the car in it. The car was towed from the water according to the guy who owns the station.

At the storm drains there were toys, chairs, trash cans, and all sort of debris that had been washed down in the fast and heavy rain. One near my house looked like a trash heap.

Laundry never ceases. Somehow, I was down to only three nightgown. I found four more to wash. Things fall behind the clawfoot tub! So, they are hanging all around in doorways along with many pairs of panties. I could not have unexpected company. Even when Tommy comes, I take everything down most of the time.

I have so many nightgowns because I get hot in my sleep and need a new one often. I don't normally get sweaty, just uncomfortable and itchy. Plus, having more means I wash less often. And, since I always hang gowns, they don't dry fast as if I put them in the drier. Since I have so many in rotation, I won't need gowns for ten years. Most were on sale.

Kitty spends less and less time here. Her voice, the inevitable meowing, has grown weaker and less demanding. She stays far away from me. It might be my accidentally stepping on her twice that makes her keep her distance. Tonight, I started talking to her and she was right back to her loud demanding and running too close beside me and stopping short in front of me. I fed her and she seemed happy.

One goal this summer is staying hydrated! Thankfully, I love water due to my mother's not giving us sweetened drinks as a matter of course. Now that I can drink what I want and do love Kool Ade and Cokes, I still stick with water or plain tea.

I have so far refused to pay $4.99 or $3.99 for a head of celery. But, I have reached the end and will buy celery tomorrow even if have to trade Kitty for it. Why is celery so high right now? I want tuna salad with celery. I want potato salad! I want celery for flavoring in meats. The base of the celery will grow more for me. I will not be dehydrating it as usual, but I can flash freeze it and then dump it in a bag so I can use just a bit. I will not be able to use it for the crunch.

Tommy died

I am distraught! He died at 12:15 am on 3-14.
