Those Church People

A fellow blogger, Joe from Fat in Indiana has published a book, Suburban Moon. I read it in two sittings. It is a great read. I purchased the paperback copy and loved it. Go to his blog and hear more. I think he put a link to it on Thursday. It is not that it is so easy, I just read quickly and I did stay up late reading. I was barely able to put it down.

I went into a store today and only interacted with two people, both rude and on their way to church.  I was trying to move down and aisle and was blocked by a guy behind his female companion. I asked three time for a guy to "excuse me." He looked around and asked me what I wanted and why I was talking to him. I said, "I said 'excuse me' three times." He then looked at me harshly and said, "You are a jerk, leave me alone." The female dragged him off. I just went on my way.

On the way back across the store, a cart was stopped by a whole line of carts. I turned to my right, wondering if that guy was still in the store. He turned around and scowled at me. "Don't you come over here looking at me." Then, he repeated it. Traffic was moving, so I did too. However, I put my hand up and said twice, "What is wrong with you?" The woman was turning him around to go with her.

I think he had a problem.

Then, I went to the back of the store and could not get by because of a cart of merchandise in front of me. I could see no employees around. Finally, I asked three women if one of them would push the cart forward for me, explaining it was right in front of what I was trying to buy. They all came over and the older one said to me as I sat on the electric cart, "Why don't you just push it with the cart?" Amazed. I asked her if she would move it. She said, "You can push it. Go ahead and do it."

I told her I would try to find an employee. I left as she said, "Good."

Another employee greeted me and asked how I was tonight. I told her I was doing great until I interacted with the church people in the store. She frowned and said that was the truth, that they were the nastiest people in the store. She said she would think they would be happier and more pleasant on their way to church or having just been to church.

What is wrong with these church people?

Earlier, I asked Tommy if he wanted to go to Sam's. He agreed and two hours later, at 4 pm, he said, "Let's go if we are going!" Boom! So, I quickly sliced chicken and cheese to take with me, put on clothes and we left. It was a whirlwind leaving.

At Sam's he seemed to have a list in his head, calling off what he wanted next. Well, at home he said he just kept seeing things he needed. We got milk for him, generic Claritin, double box of Raisin Bran, two packages of disposable cups (the thing I wanted), vitamins, and other such stuff.

It was a great visit because we got to examine all the new Halloween decorations, some twelve feet tall. For about one minute, we laughed and oohed and aahed at the little kids Halloween costumes. Tommy drank a Pepsi, and I had chocolate yogurt. We also took a roll around and looked at Christmas lawn decorations right next to Halloween decorations.

Tommy stopped at a machine and used his Sam's card and received free pack of Tide and a free pack of the stuff that makes a sweet scent in the laundry. Ugh!

I wanted something from Joannes, but we were there are 5:59. The doors were locked, lights off, and not a soul in sight. I suppose their clock was funning fast.

Although I slept 8 hours last night, my energy level did not reflect an abundance of sleep or rest today.

I saw a hummingbird today and yesterday.

I decided I will mash potatoes for Thanksgiving and freeze them. That is an October chore.

Do you ever go to Sam's?

Have you noticed that the church crowd is not nice in the grocery store?

Do you follow the blog Fat in Indiana?

Tuesday Things

I put the turkey bones on this morning, filled the pot with water and left the house about 10 am. When I got home after 5 pm, it looked like the same amount of water was in the pot! I checked to see if I thought the pot had been hot enough. I think it was well above 165F. So, I feel safe. Now, I have turned it up and will turn it down tonight when we go to bed.

This morning I had an appointment with a neurologist--nothing new or interesting and no tests. My fears were allayed.

THEN, I got a burger. We went to Big Box and I bought a can of silver glitter paint for the mum. It is sort of red from the red spray paint, but I will spray it with the silver glitter paint and put fairy lights in it. Then, I went to Publix.

Wednesday, I have an appointment about my toe. Tommy managed to half rip off his toenail with the seam of his pants. It is just hanging. Of course, it was loose or the seam could not dislodge it. So, hopefully, my doctor will see him. I called three podiatrists. One agreed to an emergency appointment just to remove the toenail, nothing else. The soonest emergency appoint was Jan. 15, 2022! That is the most positive response I received. What is it with podiatrists being so busy?

I started a new book--A Brief History of Time: Four Billion Years in Eight Chapters by Andrew H. Knoll.

It's almost 7 pm and we are going to search for the rest of the turkey in the freezer! Tommy can put a bin on his walker seat and I will hand things out, one shelf at a time. In the meantime, I will put another breast into the refrigerator to thaw.

We must get busy since I want to watch The Great American Light Fight, so I have to go. I love that show!

Tired Tuesday

Tuesday night, I baked 20 sweet potatoes and took the skin from 18 of them. We ate the other two. I have a nice bowl of sweet potatoes that I will freeze on Wednesday. I want to freeze enough in bags to make sweet potato bread from my pumpkin bread recipe and to make sweet potato pie from my pumpkin pie recipe. Plus, I want enough for our T-day dinner or a sweet potato casserole.

Dinner Tuesday night--Tommy had chicken, sweet potatoes, and English peas. I had chicken, sweet potatoes, and kale. It was a meal fit for a king or queen.

I talked to Linda, the neighbor, for 90 minutes on Tuesday night. (Tommy told me the time when I asked.) She is funny and nice.  We have plans to make plans. She has had no luck finding anything at the Senior Center here, either.

Since I bought two 9 pound turkeys on Tuesday, I put one in the freezer and one in the refrigerator to thaw. I can put one in the oven on Thursday, I suppose. These were $0.49/lb. Plus, they were small, both about 9 pounds. It was an ordeal getting the food arranged since there are 9 or ten cartons (half gallons) of milk. Tommy did most of it.

Monday night, I started reading Beowulf in bed, but that is going to be my book to read in the living room. This is a brand new book I got from a free bookshelf. I have no idea what I will take to bed tonight, probably something from my box of books in the mail. I had gone to bed without looking for a book and did not want to disturb Tommy, so I found Beowulf. I read a large portion of this in the undergrad English Survey class, I believe. I need to get Grendel's Mother and read that when I finish Beowulf.

Have you read Beowulf or any portion of it? Are you a fan of Beowulf?

This and That

Tommy has a pillow he uses behind his neck in the recliner. It was his father's, and he died in 1972. Tommy said he got the pillow in about 1969. Tommy has used it since 1972.  It has never been washed! That grossed me out. I bought three travel pillows, one for the car and one for each of us in the house. Tommy threw a loud fit, saying he like the bone-shaped pillow and did not want or need the travel pillow.

Well, since yesterday he has used his pillow exclusively. I bought these six months ago, but wanted the pillowcases to use with them. I would just use a pillowcase that fits a regular sized bed pillow, but I only have three pillowcases here and I use two of them all the time. I found the pillowcases this last week, washed, and hung to dry.

He loves the pillow! I suffered verbal abuse when I bought the pillows. Maybe one day, I will suggest he throw the old pillow out. I know that if it is washed, it will come apart. Can you imagine using a pillow for 60+ years and never washing it? I offered and suffered verbal abuse. He said it did not need washing. Yuck!

I have been using one of the travel pillows under my shoulder, so that pillow is pretty flat or at least not so fluffy. He wanted that one and let me have the new one. That is okay with me since the fluffier pillow will work and I won't have to fold the flatter one for use under my shoulder that has torn rotator cuff.

New book last week--Just Mercy, by Bryan Stevenson.

This book follows the murder trial, coercion, and conviction of a black man for something he did not do, was not in town to commit. It is shocking how many lies convicted this man and put him on death row. Stevenson is a young black attorney who comes to Alabama to work for blacks wrongly convicted. Of course, all this is now a matter of record.

Some nights, I read as little as four pages and then go to sleep so I won't work through the sleepiness and stay up too late. I could read the book in three days of leisurely reading if I put my mind to it. I think I will keep a book in the living room to read, plus one in the bedroom.

Friday night, I put the hen in the oven late, about 6:15. The hen was still partially frozen with giblets inside. I put the oven on 350F, intending to leave it that temperature for an hour and turn it down to 300F. His oven is 50F too high. But, I forgot and left it on for the whole four hours. I wanted the frozen giblets cooked, not raw! I ripped off the breasts and put in a bag. Then, I ripped off thighs, legs, and wings for Tommy to remove meat today. It may be overcooked, but it is not raw! There are about 10 meals in the refrigerator from one huge hen.

The hen was rubbed like it was turkey and it smelled like Thanksgiving in here. I rub salt, pepper, and ground sage into the hen before it is baked. I never use poultry seasoning. I chopped an onion in anticipation of Thanksgiving cooking and froze them.

A hen tender was my lunch (no breakfast), dipped in Miracle Whip instead of Honey Mustard, milk, half a banana and pb.

Tommy is watching an Auburn game, so the day is stalled while he watches. There are so many little picky rules in football. He doesn't mind telling why things happen, but I am not so sure I care. I know people like football, but it all seems so cruel and violent that I wonder about people who love football. Okay, not really!  I guess we don't have jousting and gladiators, so we have football.

Hopefully, he will not want to watch the whole game. I can dream, can't I. But, there are things to do. I won't even ask about going out.

Since all my Ball quart jars are now clean, I can fill them with beans, sugar, flour, powdered and brown sugar and such. I started that on Friday night. One jar of Great Northern Beans is in the freezer for a three-day stay.

The weather is going to be beautiful this weekend, with a predicted frost or freeze on Saturday night. Most trees have not turned yet, so maybe this frost will do the trick. Some trees, deciduous ones, are still fully green, maybe fading but still green.

Are you an avid football fan? Have the trees all turned in your area? Does anyone you know refuse to give up and replace an item that has seen better days? Do you use Ball jars to store dry goods?

RAIN

Well, we are still working on the list from a few days ago! The rain is part of the problem. In places in Birmingham, TEN inches of rain fell. And, October is traditionally our driest month of the year. Well, that did not happen so far. Okay, that ten inches is the official rainfall, but some places received more rain.

Tommy hung my black bird in the tree IN THE BACK of the tree! I suppose I will have to redo that, but not until the grass is dry. I hope the bird has been painted enough. I only got one coat on before rain and high humidity put an end to painting. I had him hang the black bird from the shepherd's hook instead of the tree. It looks great.

A few weeks ago, I had the most wonderful ice cream, Mayfield's Snow Cream. And, yes, it does taste just like it was made with milk, sugar, and vanilla flavoring with bowls of snow stirred in. Try it, you will like it, or maybe you have.

My youngest daughter who just turned 46 went out to gather snow when she was five years old. I told her about bird poop and not scraping too closely. She was so cute doing this, so focused and careful.

Last night, I finished The Bear. It was wonderful. I felt I was in a land I could never know or imagine. For a post-apocalyptic story, it was pleasant, but poignant. This is the story of the last person on earth! I was mesmerized. If anyone wants it, I can send it media mail to you.

When I get the stuck-on egg from the egg beaters, I will cook scrambled eggs for the next three days. Six broken eggs wait in a bowl. I am so hungry, so this will be lunch. I suppose he can help me empty and refill the dishwasher when Jeopardy is on TV.  He does so many things. He went to the kitchen and washed dishes when I had wanted him to only get off the stuck on cheese on two glass dishes. But, he washed most of the glass dishes. He is not lazy.

For Tommy, I ordered a large hot water bottle. It hold 90 ounces of water and is skinny and long. His hips and knees hurt him because he has osteoarthritis. Hopefully, by getting this long bottle, he can apply heat to both hips or both knees at one time. He has a heating pad that is too old. Plus, I don't trust him not to turn it off or remove it from his body.

A couple of days ago, I got into the car where Tommy was set to drive. I tried to put something into my pocket, and my pocket had mysteriously disappeared. After a bit, I realized my pants were backwards! Ugh! Tommy asked me if I wanted to go back and change. I was hurting so that I said no and just wore the pants backwards. These pants were new. I had worn them and washed them before this day. I thought to myself that they fit better and washing and hanging to dry. I would have been too embarrassed to admit I put them on backward and then wore them after I realized my mistake. But, I am over that now. I do check twice now to make sure they are on correctly.

Just now, we put the pumpkin and the pot it sits in on the other side of the porch in order to balance the decorations. It's not much of a Halloween display, but it works for me. I have only spent $10 on Halloween. When things are on sale, I will be buying a fake pumpkin for next year, hoping it won't fade. But, I suppose I can spray it if it fades. I do have orange spray paint.

We got our sun today by going to Publix to return brown lettuce that is two days from expiration date. Then, we zipped around the corner to The Pig and got Dasani water. I had earned money on a card, so it cost me nothing. We sat in the park for about 20 minutes, made a tour of the park and came home. it works for us.

So far, that is our day.

Have you ever worn your pants backward on purpose or accidentally? How did they feel? Have you had Mayfield Snow Cream? How did you like it? Did you think it tasted exactly like snow ice cream when it snowed?

Surprise Item Shopping

Despite gloomy weather some days, and rain drizzling for hours, there has been beautiful sunshine on those same days. We do sit in the park for about 30 minutes to an hour each day. The hummingbirds are still here, delighting us with their antics. We have a large shepherd's hook and a smaller one I bought at a yard sale for $3. Actually, it was a trade.

It has been so much fun to see one of the smallest hummers sitting on the small hook. Tommy said he sits there because the diameter of the larger hook is too large for the little feet. I suppose that is correct.

I haves spent many hours tired and sleeping Friday and Saturday. I don't know why, but I have suspicions. If I am right, I will tell you. Nothing has happened, good or bad, to report or complain about.

I am still reading at night, but have decided my present book is too heavy to hold up in bed. So, it may become a book to read at night when I don't care for what is on the TV. Maybe I need to read paperbacks in bed?

Only three boxes of patterns have been sorted, and there are at least that many to do. Since no one has indicated she might like a pattern through the mail, I may have to get rid of them locally. There is a church that has a yard sale when weather is permitting. My friend at a country church says no one in the church sews. That stumps me! Tommy suggested calling and donating them somewhere. I will just have to get over the fact that most envelope patterns will just be emptied, dismantled, and be destroyed!

For dinner Friday night, I cooked two preformed patties and put the rest of the packet of onion sauce on it, and we had vegetable of some kind...lol. Saturday night, I used a package of precooked  browned ground beef (93/7). This package had been defatted by pouring boiling water over it while in a colander.

I had a really cheap name brand Taco kit. So, I used that and had to buy tomatoes and green onions. It was sooooo good. I even had lettuce to go on it.  The meat seasoning and the taco sauce was so hot I only used a bit. But, Tommy used more. I just threw away the rest of the seasonings.

I can tell it is getting cooler because one of those huge outside roaches made it into the house. Last year, I serendipitously sprayed the porch and the front door and never saw another one. I did the same today. Now, tomorrow, I must do the back door. I hate those critters!

The crocheting is not coming along well at all. I need to get lighter colors so I can see what I am doing! Or, I can crochet outside.

When I went to a big box store, the cashier threw my bags into my electric cart. When we go home, I was shocked to find a bag with a smoked turkey tail. Now, you know I did not buy that or steal it...lol. I put it in the freezer to give away. I know the store will not put it back in stock. Plus, I struggle to even find an electric cart. If it were disposable plates or a can of food, I would return them.

Since I sent my dil's birthday card late, thinking it was the following month, I did get that mailed in time this year. I have heard there is a planned slowdown of mail delivery. Have you heard that? So, her card has two weeks to arrive from the day I mailed it.

Have you ever gotten home with items you did not purchase? What did you do with the item>

Tired and Rambling

I have been so tired and not sleeping well at all. Okay, I can sleep for hours during the day. But, at night I am wide awake even if I do not take a nap. I suppose I should give in and become a vampire.

Everyday, I tell Tommy he needs to come and help me get frozen meat from the freezer. He is sort of a spotter in case of an avalanche. I usually throw my body at the freezer and stop the chunks from falling and hitting my feet or skittering across the floor.

Finally, tonight, he helped me. I did sit on a five gallon bucket and get stuff from my upright freezer. So, no chest stopping the meat. I found a package of frozen thighs, a turkey breast, and a package of Italian Sausages. Then, I looked more closely and found I had a chicken and not a turkey breast. Oh well.

I will cook the chicken in a cooking bag along with the thighs. After we have our first meal, he will remove all the meat from the bones. He will like this for lunch sandwiches or to put on a salad. Then, I can check more carefully and find a turkey breast. I know I must have one in one of the freezers.

Tuesday afternoon, I bought an expensive package of boneless, skinless breast instead of buying KFC. That package worked for lunch and for dinner tonight as well as dinner last night. So, now that more meat is thawing, there will be no temptation at all for eating out.

We are slowly getting a zillion cans of food that are five years old from his dining room, all stashed in a huge box! I go around and behind the table and pick up one can at a time and he stands on the other side of a barrier of food and stuff and takes each can and puts it in a bag for discarding in the garbage. Some of the cans are ready to explode, others have leaked, all in pretty bad shape. Before I got the floor lamp to use, there was no way to see what was there!

Items back there that he forbade me to discard, he is now amenable to losing as he says he does not care. How many ice cream buckets that are 20 years old does one need?

So, I have done things, just not much in the way of fun activities, which is not to say life is boring or mundane. The glue in my eye dissipated, so that is one worry off my mind and out of my eye. I resumed reading The Bird Way now.

Everyday, I call two places trying to get rid of this covid haircut! They must have plenty of customers since they never answer the phone.

Everyday, I look for a package.  Finally, I cancelled the order. I had ordered a hummingbird feeder for Tommy and an ant guard. I will find one somewhere else. The neighbors must wonder what I am up to when I look outside every few minutes for days. I will make the feed to go into the feeder instead of buying the poisonous red liquid. Tommy does not know what I have been waiting to receive.

Does anyone have a hummingbird feeder? Got any good stories or advice?

My Book Recommendation

This book answered questions I have had since I was a small child. Why did Aggie not eat at our table? Why did she eat in the dining room while we ate at the kitchen table?

Coming of Age in Mississippi is a powerful commentary on race, sexism and other issues that faced Anne Moody. It is the autobiography of Anne Moody. The link is a whole page of sites. Choose what you like.

This was not an assigned book at the university, nor was it recommended by anyone. It just appealed to me because I was born in Mississippi.

Is this something you might like since it explains the sociological influences that informed how blacks should act that she lived with? Can you put this on your reading list?  Have you read this book?

Santa Mouse and Christmas Socks

When my older two were just babies, I bought a book, Santa Mouse. There was also a stuffed Santa Mouse to buy. I bought both and they enjoyed playing with Santa Mouse and hearing me read the book for a week or so before Christmas. I took both and put them away so they could read it next year. I have had this book and Santa Mouse for about 50 years.

Yes, my blogmas continues.

When the son was just two and I was pregnant, I read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" way too many times. I read to my children from the time they were born. The oldest is an English teacher, father to a boy and girl,  and the younger is a first grade teacher. The middle child, a girl, read to her children, a boy and girl, the smartest grandchildren in the world except for the other two grandchildren. (Yes, I know you have some of those, too.)

I forgot one acquisition on Saturday. As I came out of the store, on the ground on the pavement, was a stem of holly or something with red berries. I know it has a name, but the berries are all along the stem. So, one free decoration for next year.

In one store, there was a pair of Christmas socks for men. It said so on the tag. Well, it looked like something just for me. The socks were red and white striped with the green toes and heel. Along the top was elastic and pointy elf decorations along with the green elasticized band. So, I cut off the elastic band because it was too tight. Now, I am wearing red and white socks to keep warm. Tommy laughs every time he sees them because he said he likes them and they are cute on me. They feel festive.

Have you ever heard of Santa Mouse, the toy or book? Do you have it? Did you have a Christmas book you read on demand over and over?

The Day After Christmas and A Book on Dementia

We left the house before 7 am when the temperature was still in the 20s. After we did what we needed to do, I shopped...lol

Publix--half price Christmas socks. I will look like and elf. A Santa figurine in apron, working, goat cheese in blueberries, bogo Honey Nut Cheerios for Tommy.

Big box--two light fixtures for Tommy's dark kitchen and dining room. Of course, one rang up at the wrong price, and that had to be rectified! Always something.

Big Box-Christmas dish towels and potholders, candy, Santa commode seat cover, all 505 off. I resisted the urge to buy paper and ribbon since I have enough for the next ten Christmases. It is not that I have so much paper and ribbon, I just use so little as I do not wrap gifts when I mail them. Daughter and DIL do that for me. When I mail gifts, I mash them into a box.

I did not buy a lot today and did not intend to do so when I set out. When you do not get into the store until 1pm the day after Christmas, there is not much left or many people, thankfully.

I am going to buy this:

Beating the Dementia Monster: How I stopped the advance of cognitive impairment from Alzheimer Impairment, 2nd edition, Brown and Phatak

I stumbled across this and thought of one blogger whose mother is losing her memory and hoped this might help others, too.

Christmas Day--Too ill to cook or even get my own food. So, I had a bologna sandwich or two. Tommy waited on me all day. I only got up to go to the bathroom.

Now that it is the day after Christmas, I might bake the turkey breast and four boneless, skinless chicken thighs. I never buy thighs. These were given to me. I did buy the turkey breast before Thanksgiving.

Book and Catch Up on Other Things, New Thoughts

*A wonderful blog follower sent me a chicken book and a fringed throw that is from Alabama. It has all sorts of seed companies' ads on it. Beautiful! Thanks. Note coming later.

*I love the air fryer. It is just a pain for me to wash. I told Sam I would post about it. We need a dishwasher! So, yes, it is wonderful.

*I also still love and use the ice cream freezer. The two freezer bowls take up a lot of room in the freezer, so I may take them out when the big freezer needs more room for food. Actually, I will just take one out until I need the room both use.

*Sunday night, I took 3 gallons of frozen water from the freezer to gain room. They were on the counter, but I decided to put them in the sink in case one leaked. Good thing I did so. Tommy found a puddle in the floor and one milk jug only had a third of the water still in it. I have no idea how the puddle came to be.

*My indestructible Samsung Rugby flip phone broke when I dropped it. Bummer.

*Ten spools of thread came Monday and four black are on the way. They are beautiful. I suppose you have to be a sewer to think thread is beautiful. I will put these in a plastic shoebox to keep them dust-free and beautiful. Dust is death for a serger. Well, not really, but it gums things up and must be cleaned from the innards of the machine.

NOW, I can thread my serger. THEN, I can sew. A pair of black pants is the first thing I will make. Everyday pants are next. I may just get a pattern since my back is not up to standing and drafting a pattern. Maybe I will just cut apart a pair of pants I have. I can sew them back together like new.

*When we were in Cullman this past weekend, Tommy said we should go and find two more electric flyswatters at Lowe's. Funny man. Now, we both have one at our chairs and he loves whipping it out and zapping these gnats/fruit flies, whatever they are. He is even letting me put a Command Hook on the end of a top cabinet to hold the kitchen swatter.

*I keep mentioning how we HAVE to get a light for over the dining table. He used to yell or object. Now, he says nothing. Maybe I can find a cheap one at Restore. The kitchen has no light either, just the stove light and the highest fluorescent light over the sink where nothing beyond the sink is illuminated, none of the counter.

*My nails were splitting off in layers, so I quit putting nail polish on them. Now, I am breaking them off at a record rate. So, I cut all my nails incredibly short. Hopefully, they will recover before December and I can wear pretty polish again.

*Funny conversation here. I could not really see any gray in my hair and forgot to look carefully when in front of bathroom mirror. I asked Tommy as he walked by how much gray he could see in my part as I held my hair flat on top. He said there was just a bit that was white but that there was some that was not white, just a bit dark, and that it would "probably turn gray soon. "

I laughed so hard and had to explain that was the last time I put color on, that I made all of it darker by putting color to the ends each time like I am not supposed to do.  I have no idea how he thinks hair goes gray, turns gray or what hair color does. He actually does know how hair grows out gray, but it must have alluded him at that moment. Okay, it was cute funny.

*My latest tomato plant did not do well. It had many blossoms and more appeared. However, none ever dropped off or made tomatoes, not even tiny ones. Now that it is cooler, I suppose it is doomed. What happened? No pollinators? That was a waste of money and hope.

*My positive attitude about the virus has flagged a bit since I have been rushing toward my October and yearly illness. However, I feel more hopeful every day as my temperature goes down a few degrees each day. I think I need to employ the three inhalers and see if that helps me stay well. Falling leaves send me further into illness. Is it any wonder I am not thrilled with fall?

*I bought the cheap in the mouth electronic thermometer, but the little pieces to slip on it are an expense. I am not even sure if it is accurate. Then, we bought the Omron touchless thermometer. Both have one flaw.

The case for the first is clear-as-glass hard plastic. The round cover for the touchless is not clear and not so hard but still can see through it. I know either case/cover will become invisible easily or if on the floor. So, I took nail polish and made marks on both pieces of the case and coated the round cover of the touchless. Now, they are visible. Do you ever use nail polish to mark things for whatever reason?

*Tuesday, I am making tomato, yellow squash, yellow onion,  chicken casserole and cheese. It will be yummy and so nice and warm. Monday night--no casserole, just the foods. I made the peach dump cake/cobbler on Sunday night and had the rest on Monday.

How is your day going? It is getting cooler here?

This and That

Remember when I was losing weight. Well, I was not. Finally, after such great weight loss, I asked Tommy how his weight was fairing. He had not weighed that week. I asked him to weigh and tell me if it seemed the scales were off. He did not get on the scales, he just adjusted the scales--just moved them.

When the freezer was installed, we had to find a new spot for the scales. Since it cannot be placed on carpet, that left little room for it to go. I put it in front of the refrigerator and on the wall to the right of the refrigerator. It is not at all in the way since the door opens on the left. I had accidentally put the scales on the heat register just a bit. So, once it was placed properly, I have no longer lost all that weight. Bummer, right?

Since my oxygen maker/concentrator cannot be in the room with me, it is in the bedroom directly across the hall. Luckily, both doors are opposite one another and at the very end of the hall. The heat register had to be opened. So, that room is now cool. And, surprise, surprise, my room is cooler rather thant,  stuffy and like an oven.

Better yet, since the room has to be open and climate regulated, I can sew in there. Hopefully, we can get the head in the cabinet.

Yesterday, I was given a dozen peaches. I love peaches fresh and raw, but I may bake something or put them in ice cream.

Wednesday, I canceled my teeth cleaning appointment because I was coughing and had lots of congestion. Even if they did not mind me feeling so ill, I would have continually choked and would have had to cough. My teeth feel like they need to be cleaned!

I hate waking up feeling ill, or coughing, or sneezing and have a moment of OH NO! We both have intermittent coughing and sneezing sessions, but within an hour, there is nothing going on. But, people might be leery of us coming into an office.

Right now, I am going to Tommy's vehicle and washing windows inside and out with vinegar. I can barely see out of the windows.

The first thing I am going to cook in the air fryer is potatoes.

I am reading Mary trump's book--Too Much and Never Enough.

Tommy died

I am distraught! He died at 12:15 am on 3-14.
