When I was shopping, eggs were on my list. I was shocked to find a carton of 18 eggs was $5.99. This was scandalous. There was no way I was spending that much. So, I left without eggs.
However, I decided to wait for an Easter sale on eggs. I decided that if they were on sale Wednesday, that was good. I came home and thought it over and did some math. At $5.99/doz., the cost of an egg was still only 33 cents. Since calming down, I know I can and will pay the price. Hopefully, there will be eggs on sale, if not at Publix, then somewhere I can and will go.
(Once again, Kitty is ripping up her petticoats for bandages, this time for Matt's spinal surgery. There must have been a lot of petticoats sacrificed in the West.)
I am thinking about Easter Dinner. Potato salad is on the menu. I will eat mine cold. Tommy's will be minus eggs and heated. Unless there is ham in the freezer or I just cannot stand not having it, we will have something else for our meal. Maybe we will have green bean casserole, but probably just fresh green beans. I am not sure what else. I really want something Jello since Jello says Easter to me. That sounds like enough--protein, potato salad, green beans, Jello something. If I get the energy, I may add more. This is a tentative and maybe incomplete menu.
Maybe people won't deny children colored eggs for Easter. Mine would have been devastated. One day after Easter before the third child was in school, she was sitting at the table peeling eggs and eating them. She said to me sadly, "Mama, I don't think I can eat anymore of these balls. I looked around to see what "balls" she was eating. She was holding a yolk with a bite out of it. I told her maybe it was time to quit. No one was forcing her! She was having fun peeling Easter eggs.
