A Week

Wednesday--I ordered a lanyard for my cell phone. This helps me to keep it safe from slipping out of my hand. Nine cost about $5, much cheaper than one bought in a store.

Thursday--It pays to complain. Since I usually don't get my points from Walgreen's, I called Corporate to complain and get them. However, I ended up with a CS person who should not deal with people or talk on the phone. In the end, I was given $10.23 that I was not given in rewards or whatever their program is called. When she relinquished me to another person the good parts happened.

Friday-- I seem to remember storms.

Saturday--I ate too much junk food. I paid for it by not sleeping all Saturday night and suffering terrible indigestion. Two greens tomato went on a plate and into a back bedroom where the sun shines every morning. The sun was not shining on the tomato.

Sunday--We cooked chicken with carrots. Tommy added two small potatoes to his, and I ate about three helpings of baby carrots that were cooked with the chicken. I also had a peach, half a banana, 1/2 cup blueberries.

I made a tiny cobbler with the rhubarb by making enough for about two biscuits which I dropped on the rhubarb. I did not have to measure anything. However, it might have been better if I had used self-rising flour.

Monday-- I had the rest of the rhubarb cobbler. Tommy cooked the ground beef and it is refrigerated. I really want spaghetti. I cleaned and sliced two huge Bell peppers and two Vidalia onions. One is for Tommy to put in a salad and the other bag is for me to cook.

For dinner, we had a can of green beans, mashed potatoes from bag, baked chicken. Tommy also had a salad with half a huge tomato, chicken, mashed potatoes, and a salad. His salad had a bit of Romaine, half a huge tomato, onions, bell pepper, purple cauliflower, broccoli, and dressing. I had chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, carrots. Later, I will have a salad and part of a Granny Smith apple. Most of the can of green beans was consumed by me. Tommy drained them and soaked them before we ate them. He only eats about a fourth of a cup of green beans...lol. I stuff myself with the rest of the can.

The two huge tomatoes I put in the back bedroom to ripen on Saturday were ripe today. YAY! Tommy was surprised.

Terrible thunderstorms missed us today, but we got lots of rain. At first, it was blowing sideways!

I awoke on Monday and one foot was no longer swollen, just a tiny little, skinny foot. Really, my feet are not tiny, but they sure looked they were compared to the swollen foot lately.

In Cullman, the library which is about four short blocks from me was hit by winds that broke out the windows, knocked over bookshelves, dumped books. It was awful.

It Was Tuesday All Day

I don't know what gets into Tommy some days, but he was easily irritated all day today. Over what? Anything.

The rain that fell only lasted about 30 minutes, but it was a very hard rain with lots of wind. It almost ruined my flowers. However, it was mild rain in short spurts the rest of the day. Well, until night. I heard the wind roaring and the rain beating on everything. I wonder what my flowers will be like in the morning and how long it will take for them to recover. What happened to "April showers bring May flowers"? Today the May storms destroyed flowers.

Tommy was happy when I remarked that he need not water the flowers today. He does it willingly, but I think a walker with big wheels would go through the grass more easily. I want to find an old one to keep outdoors.

He washed some clothing for me. Now, before go to bed I must hang them to dry. We also need to carry the tuna to the bedroom like we were going to do yesterday. Why did I not do these chores earlier? Maybe it was the nap that interferred.

We finished off the Mediterranean Pasta. Sooo, that means cooking tomorrow or finding leftovers in the refrigerator. I did not get mushrooms at Publix because I did not want to buy two containers as it was not bogo as I thought.

I have 27 pages of introduction to This Side of Paradise before I can get on to the story. Do you always read the intro in books as I do? Usually, I read the intros if not always. In school I always read the intro. My professors would be very disappointed if they found out now I was skipping the intro.

Are your flowers or vegetables being beaten into the ground? Losing blossoms?

Eggs, Storms, Nothing Much

Wednesday, the plan was to go to Cullman. However, the weather report sounded like rain. It did not rain. I was bummed that we did not go as I had somewhere I needed to go, time and date bound.

Since I had gotten almost seven hours sleep, I was okay for the day and had nothing to do and everything to do. so, we bought eggs and butter, so I tackled eggs and butter we had just bought.  At the store I had to stand and sort through the eggs and pull out broken or cracked eggs. I was hoping I had gotten all whole eggs.

In the store the cartons were ready to collapse, very weak and flimsy. At home, when I looked at the eggs they were all sweating profusely, something odd for eggs fresh from a cooler and carried home in an insulated bag. An insulated bag was the only bag I had in the car.

There were a dozen eggs in my refrigerator left in a carton of 18 and another carton ready to recycle that held 18 also. So, I put 6 eggs in a bowl to scramble later and six in a bowl in the refrigerator to boil later today. The six eggs are scrambled and half have been eaten and the other half in the refrigerator for tomorrow morning. The six eggs are boiling as I type. The other new three dozen are in the two styrofoam egg cartons from Publix. I really prefer the cardboard cartons, but these Styrofoam ones were what I had.

The damp, limp egg cartons were put on the counter for a few hours. Now, they are dry and sturdy. Somehow, those cartons were stored in a damp place. Storing eggs in cartons in a dry place keeps the cartons from collapsing. At the store, I could tell the cartons on the bottom were collapsing and wondered why. Now, I know and wonder why the cartons were damp and limp. Aldi did not store the eggs correctly!

The six boiled eggs are waiting for potato salad. And, the remaining 3 scrambled eggs will be my breakfast this morning, Thursday. We need to cook meat today, chicken breasts, chicken legs, and some ground beef.  I may go ahead and cook the pork loin, too. And, I need to color my hair since I did not last week. Maybe I will make the Jello dish.

Wednesday, we could have gone to Cullman as there was no rain. Wednesday late, the map showed lots of red areas. We did not have high winds or storms right here. The storms dissipated as they approached us. For the last few weeks, we have had storms, rain, and tornadoes every Tuesday/Wednesday.

The neighbors are moving in next door, so there are all the attendant moving noises. I have only had glimpses of the woman but no sightings of the four children or a husband. Of course, I have to go out on the porch to see the house next door.

The first hummingbird feeder is ready to hang.

See? Nothing much here.

Bad Habit or just one time

Okay, this cannot become a habit! I have never eaten during the night! EVER! But, last night, I could not sleep and was famished. And, I could not sleep. So, about 5 am, I ate cream cheese.  Then, I ate cheese. Then, I ate ice cream. ugh I will just drink water next time!

I finally went to sleep about 7 am and slept until noon. At 1pm, I rested for twenty minutes while I called a friend.

Needless to say, I am maybe one bit better. Tommy is going to do the grocery shopping today. Needing milk is the only reason he needs to go at all. When they were out of my milk, I just got one whole milk. They still don't have whole milk in the a2milk, so he is going to get only one half gallon today. I did make a list for him, so we will see how he does. Sometimes, I have trouble with even a list, so it won't matter as I can just rest in the car, maybe sleep.

Now, the weather looks bad, so maybe we can wait until tomorrow.  Okay, we waited for a hour or so and went in a sprinkle and came home in dry weather...lol. He got everything I listed.

He substituted the kind of salad greens I buy but I could not remember exactly what to get. He did find my Cokes b2g1, so that was good. I told him to get anything he wanted, junk or not, to just get it if he wanted to eat it. He got nothing. He is not a browser. Well, today he was not. But, the bananas are what I wanted and he got the kind I like--not green.

We are having hotdogs, no buns, chili sauce with no beans, and cole slaw for dinner tonight. I think I can manage to microwave hotdogs, and make slaw if Tommy will open the can of chili.

I feel a teensy bit better tonight than this morning. Who knows? Making slaw might just destroy me.  I think tomorrow will be better with the prednisone and Z pack.

A friend is going to cut the chair bottoms for me from the wood he gave me. I hope he lets me pay him.  YAY!  Now, I need to shop for fabric to cover the chairs. Maybe I can get something used for the upholstery or something cheap, on sale, clearance.  I suppose I will have to buy a stapler since my heavy one I bought for $1 at a yard sale is gone!

Tomorrow's trip to get my mail has been cancelled since 80% rain and storms are forecast. I also cancelled free lunch. Since a person has to reserve a lunch, I suppose they expected a cancellation instead of a no-show.

Even on a gray day, there are smiles. We saw a bunny playing in the neighbor's yard.

Do you ever eat in the middle of the night if you awake hungry? What do you eat?

Did I get this correct?

This is supposed to be on Practical Parsimony. So, is it showing up on moreparsimony? thi
