Highlight

Today seemed like another day waiting for the rain or wondering if it were going to rain here. It finally did rain after Tommy went out and watered. We planned to go to the grocery but had not.

Tommy went out for the mail about 4 pm and got the mail. I received mail, wonderful mail. It was an announcement that grandson in another state is graduating from hs. He is tall and handsome and all smiles. My son was a child full of smiles. He graduated from an International Baccalaureate school. Tommy sort of explained that to me. I think it is for high achievers and has a social aspect to it. He is in top ten in his class and is going to continue as an Engineering Major. I am so proud of him.

I don't want to put cash or even a check in a card, so I will send the card by PO and money by Amazon. It won't be much, but I cannot afford much.

The announcement was amazingly beautiful with so many photos of him. It was done through Shutterfly. The card is viewed landscape. It folds out from both sides from the middle. On both sides of the front of the card are pictures of him, two on one side and one on the other.  Once opened, there is a picture on each side and a description with his name in the wider middle portion. On the back is another picture of him. That is six pictures. That makes plenty for clipping and framing. But, I won't cut this card. I have never seen a card like this. Have you?

This has absolutely been the brightest spot in my life for a while now.

At the grocery we bought apples, bananas, strawberries, Graham Crackers, cooking bags for the oven, card, Pepsi bogo.

Tommy has been very mellow today.

For dinner it was leftovers. Tommy had another fake burger, ear of boiled corn, and a huge stack of shredded carrots, about 3/4 cup raw with nothing on them. I had a bowl of Special K with milk and bananas, later half ear of corn. In a few minutes, I will get salad with chicken tenders.

I had him peel three potatoes and asked him to put the filet mignon on the counter. I went in and heard meat falling like rocks. I thought they were thawed! So, they can thaw for eating another day.

Have you seen the Shutterfly card like I described? They are expensive.

Surprise Item Shopping

Despite gloomy weather some days, and rain drizzling for hours, there has been beautiful sunshine on those same days. We do sit in the park for about 30 minutes to an hour each day. The hummingbirds are still here, delighting us with their antics. We have a large shepherd's hook and a smaller one I bought at a yard sale for $3. Actually, it was a trade.

It has been so much fun to see one of the smallest hummers sitting on the small hook. Tommy said he sits there because the diameter of the larger hook is too large for the little feet. I suppose that is correct.

I haves spent many hours tired and sleeping Friday and Saturday. I don't know why, but I have suspicions. If I am right, I will tell you. Nothing has happened, good or bad, to report or complain about.

I am still reading at night, but have decided my present book is too heavy to hold up in bed. So, it may become a book to read at night when I don't care for what is on the TV. Maybe I need to read paperbacks in bed?

Only three boxes of patterns have been sorted, and there are at least that many to do. Since no one has indicated she might like a pattern through the mail, I may have to get rid of them locally. There is a church that has a yard sale when weather is permitting. My friend at a country church says no one in the church sews. That stumps me! Tommy suggested calling and donating them somewhere. I will just have to get over the fact that most envelope patterns will just be emptied, dismantled, and be destroyed!

For dinner Friday night, I cooked two preformed patties and put the rest of the packet of onion sauce on it, and we had vegetable of some kind...lol. Saturday night, I used a package of precooked  browned ground beef (93/7). This package had been defatted by pouring boiling water over it while in a colander.

I had a really cheap name brand Taco kit. So, I used that and had to buy tomatoes and green onions. It was sooooo good. I even had lettuce to go on it.  The meat seasoning and the taco sauce was so hot I only used a bit. But, Tommy used more. I just threw away the rest of the seasonings.

I can tell it is getting cooler because one of those huge outside roaches made it into the house. Last year, I serendipitously sprayed the porch and the front door and never saw another one. I did the same today. Now, tomorrow, I must do the back door. I hate those critters!

The crocheting is not coming along well at all. I need to get lighter colors so I can see what I am doing! Or, I can crochet outside.

When I went to a big box store, the cashier threw my bags into my electric cart. When we go home, I was shocked to find a bag with a smoked turkey tail. Now, you know I did not buy that or steal it...lol. I put it in the freezer to give away. I know the store will not put it back in stock. Plus, I struggle to even find an electric cart. If it were disposable plates or a can of food, I would return them.

Since I sent my dil's birthday card late, thinking it was the following month, I did get that mailed in time this year. I have heard there is a planned slowdown of mail delivery. Have you heard that? So, her card has two weeks to arrive from the day I mailed it.

Have you ever gotten home with items you did not purchase? What did you do with the item>

Boy only wants Christmas cards for Christmas

On Channel 13 in Birmingham, I saw a piece about a young man who is pretty far on the Autism spectrum who is nonverbal and only wants Christmas cards for Christmas. So, I am sending a card. They did not ask for money, but I am putting in a one-dollar bill. It is not much, I know. They just want cards.

Maybe you could send him a card, too.

Last night, I was more ill than in a few days. I coughed for a long time and went to bathroom four times. I finally awoke around 1:30 pm this afternoon. About an hour later, Tommy asked me if I noticed the locks he put on the door. YAY! He has lived for several years without the ability to lock his front door. I now feel more secure. His commode had not worked for five years!

Won't you send a card to Marty?

Did I get this correct?

This is supposed to be on Practical Parsimony. So, is it showing up on moreparsimony? thi
