NuWave Air Fryer and Nightmares and Scary Happenings and Roaches

The air fryer door will not close. I believe I have had this until the warranty has expired. I am so annoyed. Nothing has happened to this appliance that would cause the door not to close. I hear it click and then click as it pops open. This is a NuWave. Have you ever heard of this? I looked online and found the company does not have a good reputation for being responsive. So, we will see.

One night, I awoke and could hear someone in my room, breathing. Tommy has only been in that bedroom two or three times while I am in there. So, this frightened me in the middle of the dark night. I tried to control my breathing so someone would not suspect I was awake. So, who was breathing in my room? What do you think. It was me!

Apparently, I was not fully awake but thought I was fully awake. I awoke one morning and stumbled into the living room where Tommy sleeps. I asked him why he came and woke me at 8 am or some other ungodly hour. He was surprised and said he had not called me. He had not been further down the hall than the bathroom.

About 5 am Thursday, I heard a very loud noise, like something hit the floor. I rushed as I could to the living room, fearing Tommy had fallen. Tommy was thrashing around in the chair with his sheet and blanket he uses. I asked him what happened. He was wondering, too. He said he might have knocked over the chair bottoms that were leaning in the living room. He had, so I picked them up, actually, just leaned them up one at a time. He said he thought I had fallen. Ugh!

It seems I am dreaming about my family more than I ever have. I dreamed something about my father the other night. A long time ago, I dreamed all the time, but not about anyone who was dead. Then, I started taking melatonin which is supposed to cause vivid dreams. As soon as I started taking it, I quit dreaming, or at least remembering dreams. When I started taking Cymbalta, I quit talking melatonin and started dreaming. Now, it seems I am dreaming while taking Melatonin.

Now, with the breathing incident and thinking someone was sneaking into my room, it appears that I have started my lucid dreaming again.

Oh, about the roaches. I have not seen one in several days. Well, I saw one yesterday in the dining area. So, I put out more roach bait. Before, roaches were running all over the kitchen, counters, outside of refrigerator, just horrendous. Tommy is not so violently opposed to getting rid of them! He encourages it and pays for the baits.  I am going to buy more poisoned bait and put one in each cabinet where surely they must like to crawl.

Smelly, Disgusting

This is an ongoing complaint. Kitchen linens start to smell like rancid oil and food.  I grab a dishtowel, clean or dirty, to contain a huge sneeze and am choked by the smell. Yes, that towel goes into the wash. There is never snot, just spray! Finally, I could stand stink no more. Nothing helped.

Where is the Biz I bought a year ago? I found it. I had never used it because Tommy objected. ??? Well, a cup of Biz in the last load of white laundry solved the problem. I even washed some "clean" but stinky  kitchen things to get everything not to smell gross. It was so bad I could not stand to fold clean clothes from the dryer.  I suppose I will use Biz from now on in the laundry.

At my house, I would lay a dish cloth or towel in the dishwasher rack and put glasses on it or edges of bowls. Then, I would wash the dishes. Washing things like this one or two at a time eventually got the stink of rancid oil/food out of everything. Of course, there were the inevitable tiny bits of food left on laundry washed with dishes. I just rinsed the items in the sink, hung over the side of the sink to dry and dropped them into the dirty laundry. It took months to get this accomplished.

As long as we are talking smelly and disgusting, how about roaches? When I came here, it seemed roaches reigned. Tommy would not allow any remediation measures. So, I sneaked a roach spray in and sprayed table legs in the kitchen. I also sprayed the baseboards and a bit of the carpet down the hall. When I found a roach, dead or alive, I called him so he would realize the extent of the problem.

The other day, I washed a skillet and put it on the stove. I turned around and there was a roach in the skillet. I screamed and hit the stove with the skillet about three time hard. Now, I have gotten more roach deterrents and killers. I found these non-toxic sticky things that trap roaches. It works. Then, I got a packet of ten roach motel like things. So far, the sticky sheets work. I have no idea if the roach poison works. I suppose so.

All this time, I have had to keep utensils and cooking utensils in a plastic box with a locking top. It is also on a chair that has been sprayed on the legs. I have had to wash items before I use them. The larger glass items are on chairs that have had the legs sprayed with the roach killer/repellent. This has made my life harder. I need to treat the drawers and cabinets as they are roach homes. I am not capable of emptying everything at once, so I may just spray in those and then wash things in the dishwasher.

Under the sink in the back corner, there is a huge gap in the construction of the cabinet. I know that roaches breed there, probably coming from under the house. Well, I have seen roaches under the sink. He told me absolutely that no one could fix it. And, I could not spray foam in the crack. I have plans, though. Watch me.

I did not grow up with roaches and have never lived with roaches! I hate it. Roaches are so nasty and low class! A man told me there is no shame in getting roaches; there is shame in living with them.

Dinner tonight: Stove Top Stuffing with chicken, broccoli slaw, green beans, and dried cranberries in it, baked. There will be no soup or egg or broth. I will cook the broccoli slaw to soften it. I think it will be good. In order not to have so much bread/carbs, I will make the stuffing and then use only half, probably freezing the other half.

Scratch that dinner above. I have been having reflux that is so painful and for almost 24 hours. Tommy decided to have the slaw from last night and a chicken Italian sausage, and three huge, juicy plums. I still have not decided what I can eat without pain.

The skies are gray; with intermittent showers. So far, that is all of Ida we are experiencing. I think Birmingham will be spared. We have plans to stay in until Wednesday. Since it appears we will be dry by then, I have a blood draw planned. How about your weather conditions?

Bananas, Pillows, and Roaches

Friday, I bought bananas, five green ones and one slightly riper but still greenish. It was gross when I ate it this morning. Bad signs are green tint, green smell that is stronger when the banana is peeled, green taste, and I can hear the peel coming off.

My goal in a few minutes is to find an apple and a paper bag and put the banana and apple in the bag to ripen the banana where I can eat one. I refuse to try to eat a green banana.

Today, I was going to go to a church nearby to see if they were having a yard sale. They never advertise, just start slowly putting items out for sale on lots of tables. This works for me. But, since it is only 45F, I doubt they are having a sale today.

A few minutes ago, I heard a soft "plop" outside the door. I knew it was my pillow. It was and it was in a heavy plastic bag with a zipper and handle. Of course, there was a white packaging over the handy bag. This is my new, favorite pillow on sale for 50% off, so I bought two. It seems my advanced age requires more pillows!  I bought one when I came here with no pillow.

Plus, I bought a cheap pillow for the living room for my head. It has just about disappeared because it never fluffs up again. Right now, it is about three inches thick if I hand fluff it. Now, I need pillowcases. I have a couple of extra pillowcases so this won't be a problem.

I ordered two pillows on the same order on the same day and only one was delivered. The other is still listed, so I know it is on the way. How is this efficient?

Tommy suggested we throw out his toaster when I asked him where to put it. I had told him that if one roach had been on the counter, they had gotten into the toaster. He never wanted toast again. That was easy to get rid of it! Right now, I am going to clean some of the junk off his small table in the kitchen so things are easier for both of us.

He has finally agreed I can spray for roaches. I did furtively spray when I first came here and he never knew. Now is the time to do the job right. I hate roaches. I have called him to kill them lately, so he knows how many I have seen all along. I have washed everything before I used it! He has just used dishes/utensils without a care. I know! It's disgusting!

When I came here, they ran freely all over the place. I had driven them back, but now is time to eliminate them.

It appears the temperatures are going up slowly to almost 70 by Wednesday. Hopefully, the people in Texas will start to recover.

This is not the way I have lived or ever aspire to live. Have you ever had an infestation of roaches?

Did I get this correct?

This is supposed to be on Practical Parsimony. So, is it showing up on moreparsimony? thi
