Tommy's Physical Therapy

On Friday, Tommy had his first physical therapy. He came away sore. He did not want me at the site of his therapy but I could sit up front or sit in car. I was afraid he would not show them his swollen, red, ulcerated leg. But, he did.

He was sore when he came out. On Saturday morning he hurt. I was disappointed when he would not do his exercises on Saturday. Finally, about 10 pm, he stayed in the kitchen longer than usual. He was exercising using the counter. Then, he came in the living room and got on the floor, using a rolled up blanket under his knee. We need to buy a ball. I need one, too.

When he finished and caught his breath, he me that since he did not exercise three times, he just did all three sessions at once. WHAT??? He could not do a full 3X sessions. But, he came close. Oh, now he tells me he only tried to triple up the floor work.

I wanted to be there to encourage him to show her his leg, what he is up against. When he was through, I asked him if he showed her his leg. He did.  I am the one who asked the doc who will do hip replacement about the leg problem to take a look as he was leaving the room. The surgeon thanked me for pointing it out, stating he would not operate until the leg was clear.

He says I worry too much. I pointed out that his lower leg might cause his leg or a portion to be amputated. I think that caught his attention, thankfully. He seems to be more focused on his leg health lately. He always dismisses the leg problem with "it's been that way for years."

I know I am not the only woman who has to push a man to pay attention to his health.

Daddy whimpered in pain all the time when he had pancreatic cancer. He would not take pain meds because the made him sick. He did not want to spend money on a prescription and waste money. I suggested he get one or two pills, not whole bottle. He could see what worked without stacking up meds he had to pay for.

Have you had to deal with a recalcitrant man concerning his health?

Donations

I really wanted a Pelee mum, but decided not to spend the money for the length of time it will last. So, here it is for me to enjoy. They die quickly in the house for lack of light and outside I cannot enjoy them.

We gave a woman some food this week. She was grateful as she was feeding four neighbor kids whose father has cancer. So, we decided to go to a foodbank and share with her.

Besides getting two small turkeys, there were many cans of food and boxed items to bake, plus mashed potatoes in bag. There were potatoes, onions, and sweet potatoes. The only thing I kept for us was two cans of collards.

There were cobbler mixes. I forgot that I kept one. So, she got three and I took three large cans of peaches from our house and added it to the food for the three cobbler mixes.

As we talked, I decided to give her the two coats I had bought for a coat drive last year and never made it to the donation site. So, I suppose we will buy another two for the other two children.

She mentioned cleaning houses after tenants move out. I asked her if she knew anyone who could help me and explained our dilemma. She did what I thought she would do. She said we had helped her and she could do it. I hate for someone to feel beholdened to me. She mentioned she wanted to make bread. Well, I offered her a bread maker. She was thrilled.

The bread maker was on the curb after our neighbor died. I think he used it once. I am relieved we are giving it a home since we changed our minds.

This woman's brother is dying, and she cares for him. She has taken on the feeding of four kids in addition to her brother's care.

She got out of her car to hug me, saw Tommy's Auburn shirt and told him she could not hug him. Her husband got out of the car and said he would shake his hand. I think she did hug Tommy after all, just a little hug. We all had a good laugh.

Tommy had his first PT. I was not there, but he seemed to think it will help. Now, he has exercises to do every day and the next two appointments.

Last year, I awoke early on Thanksgiving to see the parade. THEN, it was immediately replayed. This year, I won't try for the first showing! Replay is fine for me.

Do you watch the Thanksgiving Day parade?

Are You Honking at Me?

We had a wonderful day. Everything went right and all interactions were positive. Then, we went to Publix to buy from the current ad. We were sitting waiting for an older woman to exit a handicapped parking space.

I kept hearing someone honk behind us. I asked Tommy why the person was honking. He said he wanted us to move. Tommy rolled down his window to tell the guy we were waiting on the woman to leave so we could park. That was a bad mistake. The guy let loose with profanity. Then, the guy just laid down on his horn. Tommy was hurrying to leave when I told him to stay there. We did.

The lady finally moved and we parked. I opened the door and put my feet out, waiting on the guy with the electric cart. I looked back at the guy who was behind us, waiting to turn. He opened his window and screamed loudly, "Why are you looking at me?" "Just wondering who was so upset and honking at us." He started cursing me. A guy, maybe 40, yelled at him that he was also holding up traffic, "Old man, shut up, get out of here."

The elderly guy in a huge truck, floored it and raced off, driving way too fast in the parking lot. In the store I happened to see the guy who spoke to him and thanked him. He had more to say about how ridiculous the old guy was.

The store was packed, everyone going wild, it seemed. It will be this way until Thanksgiving Eve.

Shopping was good.

Are the crazies out where you live? Another time I will tell you about a woman followed me about a store yelling at me. I had not said a word to her, but I was wrong, apparently.

PT and Honking

Today, I had my first therapy session for my back. I went to ortho doctor about my right shoulder, hip, and knee. I am not sure why since I only mentioned the back problem when talking about walking with pain.

So, I told therapist I was not going to have any back manipulation. She agreed. Lack of balance is bigger problem. It was a good session with work on balance. She gave me a printout of the exercises so I could do them at home. She approved of the grounding mat and my Legxercise pedals.

When I hear someone honk near us, I immediately ask Tommy who is honking? Are they honking at us? What is happening? He gets mad at my questions.

I grew up in Memphis where honking was banned except in a serious situation. There was no honking at friends, honking because a person did not go soon enough after a light changed. Memphis was a quiet city.

When we moved to Cullman, we lived a block from a hospital where signs were posted for no honking. Even ambulances had to shut off any sirens. I lived there for 50 years. So, honking alarms me. Plus, I wonder what Tommy did to cause honking, not that he was wrong.

Afteer my therapy we collected the ads from all three stores. Tommy will make lists tonight. I wonder what will be bogo or otherwise on sale. Of course, the ad will go through Wednesday instead of through Tuesday.

Life

On Monday I had an appointment at 9 am if you can believe that so early. It was agony to get up so early after only two hours' sleep. I did see the most delightful PA. She stuck a camera up my nose and had me make different sounds and say different words. Now, I have to have three appointments on one day and meet with the team. ???

This is all because I choke to the point I think I need the ER. Tommy is on the alert especially when he is not in the room that he may need to call 911. Imagine a meal being interrupted by choking that finally ends by throwing up multiple times.

They had to call me back with day when I could be tested by three people and meet with all three afterwards. March 2026 is date. I called and told them that was too long with these frightening things happening. So, I have one in December 2025. Better. I have to be there at 9:30 am, have three appointments, the last at 2 pm.

Monday, we did a Publix shop of things I did not get on the list.

Tuesday, after a sleepless night, we went to other two stores to shop sale items. I went to bed at 7 pm, woke at 11 pm. Why is four hours all I can sleep at one time? rhetorical question.

For over a week I have asked/begged Tommy to find turkey breast and cranberries in the freezer. Finally, today, I told him I would buy them again because I did not like harassing him every day. So, while I took a little nap, he found both. Remember, I have to thaw/cook for about two weeks to get it all done by Thanksgiving.

When I went to bed at 7 pm tonight/Tuesday night, Tommy cooked a pork loin with ribs. I could smell it when I woke to go to bathroom. Looking forward to that.

I wish that Tommy's investment guy would give us a Honey Baked turkey meal like he did one Thanksgiving. Or, was that Christmas?

Tommy has his first PT appointment tomorrow/Wednesday for hip replacement. Thankfully, it is late in the afternoon.

Thursday, electricians are coming to convert another room to copper wiring.

The temps will be 80 or higher this week. Love it.

Are you preparing for Thanksgiving dinner?

Sunday

At Publix, we meet all sorts of people who work there. Sometimes, when I ask the office for an electric cart, the person comes out, parks the cart, turns away from me and walks away. Other guys ask if the location is okay, do I need help, all sorts of niceties.

One guy is so friendly all the time, helpful, asking if there is anything else. Well, I heard him saying something loudly as he walked out of the store with me. He went to car the car and was trying to get Tommy's attention. When I got to the car, I asked what happened. He said three guys were standing in front of the car, facing it along with some women, all looking at Tommy. As it turned out, Tommy was asleep and had no idea what happened. One of the men took out his phone and took a picture of Tommy sleeping.

The guy told me that he did not know what the guys were going to do. So, he was looking out for Tommy's safety. The guy runs to help people up who fall. He is a class act. I will make sure management knows this.

Today, I awoke in a fog and was tired all day long. However, I did go back to Publix to get milk for Tommy, bread, things I did not buy even though it was on the list. We took a tiny drive around the neighborhood again. It is still there...lol.

I received a new set of three deer from Amazon for free by using my points. I ordered and we received a set of two pee bottles for Tommy. Taking a diuretic means he has to go now and often. He said I could tell this. He had to use a Planters plastic bottle the other day in the car when we were parked. Plus, I got him a 7" tv so he can watch games when he waits in the car. If he likes it, it will be his birthday present Dec 9. He has a habit of throwing things I give him as a gift into the corner. I let him pick out an Auburn shirt at the Auburn store, and he refuses to wear it!

For dinner, I had three eggs, two sausage patties, and milk. Salad and fruits were separate. Plus, I made the same to eat on the ride to doctor.

Monday morning, I have to be in dr office at 9 am. I am dying already. The next appointment is in late January.

Tomorrow, I will wear a summer outfit that works all year--sleeveless black blouse, black and white striped pants. Since I may need something warmer early, I add a red sweater. This is the South. One day this week it will be near 80, so things have to be flexible to wear all year. Of course, I will wear sandals.

Maybe I can get a few hours' sleep.

No Pepper Place

Tommy and I both got up to go to the bathroom at the same time--6:45. He asked if I wanted to cancel Pepper Place. So, I finally went to sleep and slept until 1:30. I have been lethargic, sleepy since then.

We got an Arby sandwich and sat in the park while we ate. After that, we drove around two neighborhoods to see decorations. I know, boring. The weather was perfect, 74F, not much breeze, brilliant sunshine.

Best part of the day was when I had three scrambled eggs for dinner, two sausage patties, and milk. Salad was later. Blueberries, green grapes, yogurt were later.

It was a low-key day. I told Tommy not to allow me to sleep in my chair, to wake me. He harassed me to keep me from sleeping. If I napped so late, I knew I would not sleep tonight.

Oops, I forgot that I decluttered just a bit. A bit each day will soon be a big decluttering.

My laptop now tries to carry on a conversation with me. I told CoPilot to go away, finally to shut up. That experience unnerved me. Does AI try to verbally interact with you?

Rotten Meat

Thursday, Tommy found two packages of meat in the back of the car when he opened the door on the rear of suv. He said he smelled something, so looked around. Two packages of rotten meat. He wiped the sturdy bed of vehicle, the sort of rubber bed liner. Then, he put the meat into the the garbage can. Now, I suppose the bags leaked. UGH

As we were leaving to get groceries, I ran out with Lysol and sprayed the liner until it was soaking wet.  He left a scrap of a sheet in the car. I was hoping that was the place meat juice leaked. Now, he says the sheet scrap is fine because I sprayed it. He still has not washed liner because I sprayed it. I will have to sneak and throw out the nasty rag.

The result of all this? FLIES1 They can smell meat from 1.5 miles away. I am so disgusted getting in a car and flies coming in, too.

Today, after running one chore, we went to Publix to shop. Then, we both had prescriptions to pick up. Tiring and boring day, right?

I sat in my chair and promptly went to sleep for four hours. We will go to Pepper Place in the morning. This will be brutal.

Friday afternoon, the guy who may buy my serger for his daughter came by. I gave him things for her, sold him a book of craft patterns for $3. He carried in the serger so I could get model to determine what I paid for it. Hopefully, I can sell it to him. This is my version of a yard sale.

We went to DMV to get title to my car. I cannot get into the one here, so we drove to Hoover where I did not have to contend with stairs, steps, or ramp. An employee opened the door and ushered me in, taking me to proper window. I sat with him urging me on. I told him I would not go to window, that friend would.

The last time I was there for another reason, I was told it would be ten days to receive the title. I asked him, thinking maybe it would be sooner. Conversation betweeh him--h-- and Me--m.

m-how long will it take for me to get this.

h--about 2 and a half weeks.

m--last time I was told ten days.

h--That is what I said. Ten days is two and a half weeks.

m--no, ten days is not two and a half weeks.

h--yes, it is.

m--(holding up seven fingers) seven fingers is a week. The other three is a half week.

h--No

m--yes

He looked puzzled and left.

I wonder what are the qualifications for these positions.

When Tommy asked the woman who helped him, she said four and a half weeks. I have someone who wants the car NOW.

First Day of Rewiring

We had the second day of rewiring. This day was the first day of working on actual wiring. They were to be here at 8 am. I did not sleep all night but got up at 7:45, washed my hair and cooked scrambled eggs that I had with two sausages and milk. Lunch was leftover spaghetti. Dinner was salad greens with delicious tomato and chopped bscb. Then, I had cottage cheese and frozen blueberries.

Finally, at 9:30 am, all three arrived. They went straight, drilling holes in the bricks for some reason. It was a horrendous noise. I am glad I was not in bed since the drilling was right at my bed. They came in and rewired for the refrigerator and freezer. It was an arduous job.

While they were still in the yard after they finished, my chair would not work. The lamps would not work, laptop would not work! I sent Tommy out there to get someone once I figured out that the extension cord did not work. I forgot what was the problem, but it was something they needed to address. They told me they had not worked in here. I have no idea how it happened but did not blame them.

They left. Tommy was going to heat up leftovers for lunch. Microwave would not work. He checked freezer just to be sure. Nope, neither working. So, I called office and asked secretary to get someone to come back soon. It was a loose fuse that needed to be tightened. I thought we would no longer use fuses, just breakers.

I had to call and cancel pt. Finally about 2:30, I took a nap and got up just before 5 pm.

I sat right in kitchen the whole time! One guy moved something I told him not to move as it had broken glass all under it. He said authoritatively, "There is no glass under here," My response, "You don't know what you are talking about." Silence. Yes, there is glass under it. I have not stepped on any yet, just tried to clean it up.

I have a feeling that the guy who did not do as I said will be the one who destroys things. I talked with the woman who is buying my car, asking her if she knew someone to help me in the house.

Tommy is paying for this with "60 months same as cash." I wondered. He asked for papers to sign today. They have been working without his signing.

One of the guys will rewire antique lamp with three arms and lights. He is a fan of lamps, too. I, of course, will pay extra for this job.

Maybe I can sleep tonight.

Is anyone a fan of antique lamps? I handmade the shades, and had someone restore the surfaces and wiring. It was a lucrative side job that made me very happy. Plus, I gained lamps for my house.

Busy Day, Little Done, Christmas Hoarding

Today was a crazy, unusual day. I finally took half of a 5mg melatonin at 6 am. I know--crazy. I woke at about 11 am. Tommy was eating. I was dizzy and discombobulated feeling. Tommy packed me something to eat. I got dressed, grabbed half a diet Mt. Dew. We left by 12:30.

We arrived at out destination, hung around. Finally, we were told the event was cancelled and when it would happen. So, we left for Big Box and remembered another event was cancelled. Arrived there and found out it had been cancelled, too. sigh.

Off to Big Box. I found Christmas Snowmen, chocolate, of course, to save for closer to Christmas. I ate just one. Then, I ate the rest after dinner. My children will not be surprised at my reaction to chocolate.

We are watching Hoarding for the Holidays. These people have more Christmas things than department stores. The stories are amazing. One person, among other things, has hundreds of blow molds along with rooms of trees and all sorts of decorations.

I think of Anne with her one room. But, these people have massive basements in rather large homes and shops and warehouses, and they are bringing more in. They have storage units with Christmas. This program will be on next Tuesday night.

This program has inspired me to go and buy more Christmas anything. I almost bought a

Electricians are coming in the morning. We don't know which room they are rewiring first. He wants to move things that will be hardest instead of uncovering outlets the easy way. I hope he gets over his ideas before the guys show up. They will veto them, I am quite sure.

39F here right now. My toes feel it. This has not been edited.

Do you know anyone with an extreme hoarding/collections of Christmas decorations?

Brrr

It was 42F for the high today. The closest I have been to outdoors is when Tommy opens the front door. I think it was low 30s Last night. With the heat on 70, my room felt frigid when I walked in. I had a hard time getting my feet warm in bed. Then, acid reflux kept me awake. I finally went to sleep around 8 and Tommy woke me before 11. UGH

He took the microwave out to street and put the free sign on top. Ridiculous!

He is making spaghetti right now. I finally showed him how to make the onions caramelized and tasty. He always had tasteless onion. AND, I convinced him to put pasta on before he finished the sauce. We will have a salad with spaghetti. I am getting hungrier by the minute.

I am still working on what to get rid of around here! It is really satisfying just to make a list knowing all this will go.

The electricians are absent and silent. They must have told me a date they would return.  Curious. I am looking at paint colors for interior. Tommy hates white trim. So, I suppose we will use blue and a shade of the same blue for trim. This is fun planning. He is not complaining about upgrading all the trim.

We are circling in a holding pattern waiting on doctors to call!

There was no snow here, but we had snow close by. Did you have snow?

Today was quiet, as you can see. There were things to do, but they did not get done. Oh well.

Maybe Sold Car

Dinner was the last of the chuck roast and black-eyed peas with a dab of catsup for me. Tommy had peas and other things, forgot what.

My car is for sale still. I had talked to mower when he called and asked if he could bring someone by. He could not get past my phone turned off so just came by. I was napping in my chair or watching tv, not sure. So, I had to get dressed, go to bathroom and stagger to the door. When he saw me as he was at the door, he told me to get a coat that it was cold. There was a frigid wind. He had brought a couple. She was the only one to drive it and would be the driver. It appeared she was paying for it, too.

She did mention she hoped that I could take $5500ish  instead of $6000 I am asking. I may give mower $200 for help in selling it. I did not have to advertise and have people come here that I did not know anything about.

The med has caused me to get better. But, this is the med that makes me feel awful. At least I know I am getting better.

Things out of the house: Okay, part way out of house. Two coats to donate, hat and gloves. Someone is coming by to pick these up. They have been here for a year. Plus, someone is picking up the plastic needle covers we both have left from using insulin. The old microwave is on the porch, ready to put on yard near road with FREE sign. I like to see things leaving or the promise of their leaving.

Black Eyed Pea Weather

Tommy knew of an urgent care that I had never seen. I went there and got prescription. I took it about 5 pm and now at 10:30 pm, I feel somewhat better. Maybe I am just hopeful.

Dinner of chuck roast, collard greens and banana over chocolate ice cream did help me feel better. I need blueberries now. I am just now sorting the peas.

Today, the day was warm and beautiful. Sunday will be much colder and freezing temps at night. So, a sheet will have to go over plants. I am putting on blackeyed peas. The only prep I need is to find my gloves and red scarf.

My pink mum that changed back and forth from pale pink to pale lavender finally faded to almost white. Now, it is back to a vivid but still pale color. I have never had a mum change colors like that.

While at the urgent care, I asked the np to look at a pressure wound, she obliged me. Tommy is not good at telling me anything looks like. I got this pressure wound from sitting too much. She told me that a ring to sit on made hemorrhoids worse. I don't have hemorrhoids, but the news is good to know just in case.

As I was throwing away the bag from the peas, I saw the nutrients listed. I was shocked to find there were 9 grams of protein in 1/4 cup. Then, I looked on the back and saw there were 24 grams of carbs. Who eats only 1/4 of black eyed peas? I can eat a bowlful for dinner.

Maybe I will cook brown rice to mix with the peas. I love brown rice and black eyed peas with no seasoning of any type, not even salt. I may freeze some of these for New Years in case I don't get around to cooking these again.

I just asked Tommy if he ever ate catsup on his black eyed peas. "Hell NO! That sounds awful!" Well, I have. Have you? Mostly, I eat them plain or with relish.

A Different Kind of Yard Sale

For a week, I have been suffering from malaise. I have only a bit of trouble going to sleep, but then I sleep like a rock, not long, but sound. I am listless all day. I could not say what was wrong, just did not feel well. Yes, I have another UTI.

The sun goes down very early which affects how long we can stay out. Bummer!

Once again, we are having chuck roast, sweet potatoes, and collards. I could eat this every day. I think this is the fourth day. Tomorrow, I will cook black eyed peas and have greens again. Tonight and tomorrow night, we will have a salad later, sort of like dessert.

Everything we bought at Publix this week was bogo. I am quite happy with the reduced prices. Salad, Pepsi, ice cream, and bscb. He spent $39 and saved $37. He made the list, I indicated what to actually, buy while he went in on a electric cart.

He had spent hours washing clothes, hanging them and drying others. He should be beyond exhausted.

There are things that are in the house and need to go. I sold the three deer to a woman who was going around encouraging people to vote for her candidate. I have sold other things to people who showed up for something. I gave away arms full of items that would sell in the yard. I have told the electricians about things they have to move to work on wiring. I told them they have to move the things out from the wall and back. So, could they either take them or move to curb--mattress and 50" TV. Other things are for sale. They have shown interest.

For sale: Vacuum cleaner that was used maybe 10 minutes. I want half of purchase price.

Serger never used, new--half purchase price.

Walker that needs screws.

Mirror in pretty fan shape, about 100  yrs old.

Tommy's recliner when we get Lazy Boy.

Two bookcases--six feet long and about two feet high, cheaply made and take up too much wall/floor     space.

Dollhouse furniture- new

New flip phone never used.

New Android never used.

Silver Impala, 2008, 53K miles, clean inside and out, no fluid leaks, no body damage, new Michelins with 5k miles. Sweet, smooth ride. Tommy cannot get in it without great pain and trouble.

Throw or wall hanging with library shelves and books, never used, $6K

This is just the beginning. People know people. I won't have people answering an ad contacting me.

Okay, I have had this before me for seven hours. Have a good night.

Electrical Work

I asked Tommy if he did not like his new look/haircut better than his former feral look. He laughed and said he thought it looked 'woodsy.' Well, okay.

Tonight, we had roast, collard greens, and sweet potatoes. It was all delicious! Tommy only bought five sweet potatoes. I thought we had more. Now, we have to find more Beauregards to have enough for a pie.

The guys came today and replaced the fusebox  with a new circuit breaker box. The power was off for five hours. It was dark and lonely in here...lol. I developed a twitch as I kept reaching for my laptop. Then, within a half-second I would remember laptop would not work.

They will come back next week to do one room. Then, they will make appointment to do another room another week. They understood our disabilities and how more than a few hours will destroy me.

I explained I had things to sell, that we could not get things out or in and did not have energy to man it all day. So, I told them that I have a list of things to sell and prices. They have to move and unplug the big TV, and other things we do not want. The mattress leaning on the outlet and TV can be put on street. We will put a "FREE' sign on them. Some things I will give away to them or someone else.

Now, we need to go find ceiling fixtures for the house to replace some and just get fixtures for rooms that don't have a ceiling fixture. Those will be installed as rewiring is done.

After the rewiring is done, the bedroom converted to a bathroom is next. I can tell this experience will be better than the last company.

I meant to get them to send me pictures they took. But, I forgot. Otherwise, you could see progress.

After they left, we picked up ads and I shopped a bit at Publix. Then, I napped as I tried to function. I was glad we basically had dinner done except for the sweet potatoes.

After we ate, I cut up a red, an orange, and a yellow bell pepper for the freezer and cooking and one bag cut small for Tommy to use in a salad or the eat by hand as a snack. I hate raw bell peppers, but he loves them. I do love them cooked as an ingredient cooked. I really need to dice an onion. I also need to cook the spaghetti squash. That is for another day.

What is happening at your house?

Tommy's Haircut

I found this about Chronic illness.

This Instagram Account Spreads Awareness About What People With Chronic Illnesses Go Through Every Day And Here Are 40 Of The Best Photos

Okay, on to post. I finally got Tommy to let me cut his hair. It was so nasty and greasy and long that I may have ruined the clippers.  He can no longer get into the tub, so must wash hair in sink. Yes, he washes whole body in sink.

Finally, halfway through his haircut, I had him go wash his hair! It took over an hour to cut it because I would clip for three minutes and rest for ten. Then, he took off to the bathroom with my scissors, comb, and clippers. He used his trimmer and shaved off allll his sideburns. I was a little shocked.

I was sitting with him in AFC and told him that if his hair was curly, he would look like Einstein. Tommy said the guy facing him and behind me laughed. He washed his hair, lets it sit after washing and drying with a towel. After that, the rat nests are somewhat permanent.

He looks civilized now, not feral.

I don' really decorate for Thanksgiving. I do have pumpkins all over, not Jack 'o Lanterns. There is one turkey and autumn leaves. I don't remember if I had anything for the door.

Today, we seared a pot roast and put it in the crockpot. It was so tender and delicious. We did not salt or pepper the roast. Tomorrow, most of it will be frozen in portions for one or two meals for both of us.

Wednesday, tomorrow, starts the rewiring of the house. I hope all goes well. The cost is $10K less than the first. Plus, they have not lied to me.

I should be in bed. We have no fall leaves, just green ones. I wonder when it will happen every year. Have the leaves turned where you live, and where do you live.

November 1 Butterflies

As usual, sleep was elusive. Then, I didn't get my proper breakfast because I didn't. Tommy brought almost all the Halloween stuff in. He sat the skeleton on a box right in the bedroom door. It looks like Skelley was on his knees and sat back on his heels with one arm up. He is the kind of skeleton that has joints that can be posed. Tommy bought him for me using some sort of discount and used a store coupon. So, he was cheap.

Eating the wrong things sent me to sleep. I felt miserable the rest of the afternoon and evening after a long nap.

I got up at 6:30 this morning after forgetting to reset the wall clock near me. So, I guess that was 5:30. I opened a refill of a prescription and found the wrong pill. After searching, it is an opioid, apparently. Wrong thing. As much as I would like a lot of pain relief, I won't take even one! I searched again. I have the correct pill, just from different manufacturer.

It was shocking to read the side effects, No wonder I am dizzy, cannot sleep, memory problems, all sorts of things. I can die without this but have no brain with it. Bummer!

Tommy sleeps so easily. I can sit with dim light on and type or read. It seems nothing bothers him. Sometimes, if I have the TV on when he goes to sleep, he asks me to lower it, but I just turn it off.

When we shopped for chairs at Lazy Boy, the store kept delaying the delivery date, so we cancelled the two chairs and bought these on sale. They are Ashley, but bought from local store. Tommy's feet are never above his heart since these feet never raise to level of chair seat and he never lies back much. His hips and knees won't bend adequately. This discussion with him has not been loud as usual when I broach something. So, I believe getting him a chair that gives his blood a little help in getting back to his heart will lessen his swollen legs and improve his life. I will put mine into my bedroom. His will probably need to be sold. Maybe not.

I am making a list of things to be sold from this house. Most of those items are mine. It will give us more room and me more money.

It was August when we last had the grass mowed. Some pretty little (short) weeds have bloomed. They attract butterflies. I remember as a child being thrilled when so many butterflies were out. Yesterday we saw what looked like a red butterfly flitting about. We were both just thrilled.

Since Tommy has St. Augustine grass, it is not tall, just lush. I like it cut high, anyway.

From now to Thanksgiving, I will be planning and cooking for Thanksgiving dinner. Beauregard sweet potatoes will be first. They will be roasted, peeled, and frozen for the main meal, maybe a sweet potato pie since Tommy loves them better than pumpkin pie. If not a pie, I will heat up the frozen sweet potatoes, put a dab of butter on them and eat them sans sugar. Making cranberry sauce will be next.

Are you planning your headlong rush to Thanksgiving? Or, are you going to wait until the day before and start cooking?

Tommy's Physical Therapy

On Friday, Tommy had his first physical therapy. He came away sore. He did not want me at the site of his therapy but I could sit up front ...
