I asked Tommy if he did not like his new look/haircut better than his former feral look. He laughed and said he thought it looked 'woodsy.' Well, okay.
Tonight, we had roast, collard greens, and sweet potatoes. It was all delicious! Tommy only bought five sweet potatoes. I thought we had more. Now, we have to find more Beauregards to have enough for a pie.
The guys came today and replaced the fusebox with a new circuit breaker box. The power was off for five hours. It was dark and lonely in here...lol. I developed a twitch as I kept reaching for my laptop. Then, within a half-second I would remember laptop would not work.
They will come back next week to do one room. Then, they will make appointment to do another room another week. They understood our disabilities and how more than a few hours will destroy me.
I explained I had things to sell, that we could not get things out or in and did not have energy to man it all day. So, I told them that I have a list of things to sell and prices. They have to move and unplug the big TV, and other things we do not want. The mattress leaning on the outlet and TV can be put on street. We will put a "FREE' sign on them. Some things I will give away to them or someone else.
Now, we need to go find ceiling fixtures for the house to replace some and just get fixtures for rooms that don't have a ceiling fixture. Those will be installed as rewiring is done.
After the rewiring is done, the bedroom converted to a bathroom is next. I can tell this experience will be better than the last company.
I meant to get them to send me pictures they took. But, I forgot. Otherwise, you could see progress.
After they left, we picked up ads and I shopped a bit at Publix. Then, I napped as I tried to function. I was glad we basically had dinner done except for the sweet potatoes.
After we ate, I cut up a red, an orange, and a yellow bell pepper for the freezer and cooking and one bag cut small for Tommy to use in a salad or the eat by hand as a snack. I hate raw bell peppers, but he loves them. I do love them cooked as an ingredient cooked. I really need to dice an onion. I also need to cook the spaghetti squash. That is for another day.
What is happening at your house?
You don't have a batter in your laptop? Mine can be unplugged and work for hours. Nice that you now have a new electric panel.
ReplyDeleteCheryl,
DeleteI do have a battery. The last laptop I used exclusively with the battery somehow caused the motherboard to fail. Well, that is what someone said caused the failure. So...
Yes, we have been dragged into this millennium.
I got my teeth cleaned (yay me!) and was planning to pick up a Singer 403A sewing machine from someone on FB. I told her I was coming today and needed her address, but she hasn't responded. Gah!
ReplyDeleteI am giving DD my fully loaded (as in: every single accessory that you could purchase for it) Kenmore 158. I purchased it from a widower for only $50. It's a sweet machine, but I will never use 95% of its capabilities. DD is an excellent seamstress and makes costumes so she will get far more out of it than I ever could.
I found Sola keto bagels with only 4 net carbs. Can't wait to try them with some cream cheese, red onion, tomato, and smoked salmon! Yay me!
Sue,
DeleteI am not familiar with that specific machine, BUT I looked it up, very old and a German made parts, so excellent. I have an old black Singer my mother bought me at a yard sale. All my Singers are old and made with German parts. I am sure she will love it forever.
Enjoy your bagels.
PS: Sounds like your electrical work has started off well! Here's hoping for continued good luck!
ReplyDeleteWhen you buy ceiling fixtures, make sure they can take LED bulbs and that you have at least 3-4 bulbs per fixture. And then make sure the switches have dimmers.
As far as moving things outside, what happened to Pedro?
Sue,
DeleteWe are happy with the progress. I think this will all work out well.
Actually, remote was tops. Seriously, three bulbs and dual were things I wanted. Dimmers is the only thing I had not considered.
Pedro was guy who lied and said I could just replace part of the aluminum and have both here. I doubt he will come back...lol.
I have so many projects that I want to do (or have done) around the house. It seems it's never ending. Painting the kitchen. Replacing the cabinet door handles in the kitchen and one bathroom. Lots of small things like that. And I would love hardwood floors in the master bedroom. But that seems overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteI try to keep myself busy so I don't have time to sit and think about my situation. But do often feel a huge sense of relief if something is canceled.
Tommy has done nothing since he bought this house except for painting. However, he painted none of the bedrooms. All other walls are same shade of beige. He put in beige carpet and bought beige pinch pleated drapes from DG. He removed drapery rods and hooked drapes on the curtain rods. No light can come in and there is no way to slide the drapes on a curtain rod without it falling off. Bathroom window is rotted out since he put wet soap and wash cloth on it since 1980. I am adding some touches that are not needed to protect the house, like safe wiring.
DeleteHe realizes all this needs to be done. I can no longer paint. i hate that because I can cut out around the trim (or could) without using tape.
Ah well.
I understand doing things and relief if something is cancelled...lol.
Spending most of my time on the sofa.
