This scene is not from Hueytown. But, it was from their site. I wanted to crochet a panel but was too late. I had a page from Hueytown with our decorated trees. Now, I cannot find it.
The glorious, beautiful days continue with days in 80s. I think it will cool to 70s with rain this next week.
Tommy and I had our flu shots today. I did not feel the injection at all. Now, it does hurt. We did the grocery shopping at Publix. Tommy put sweet potato pie, Doritos, and ice cream on the list. So, I obliged him. I got him a Gingerbread Halloween house to decorate. he seemed to like it.
I refused to eat spaghetti because we had no parmesan cheese. The next day I paid an exorbitant can for $6. The next day it was on sale bogo for 2 for $6. I hate it when that happens. He put bscb for $5.39/lb. No way! Too expensive.
Today, orthopedist inquired about my bleeding toe the podiatrist worked on. sigh. He wants to operate on my back or send me to someone who will operate. He suggested in the meantime to use a pain patch. Anyone use a Salon Pas patch or anything else. I refused any pill for spinal pain.
I went to bed at 9 pm tonight and got up at 11pm. I would have gone to bed earlier, but Elkhorn is back. I hope I can go back to sleep soon. You see how going to bed at a "normal" time is of no help to me?
Some of the pain patches are very hot on the skin. Please be careful with them if you do try one. If it starts to burn, I would take it off.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the warning. I will be careful.
DeleteWe have Salonpas and they do provide temporary relief for back pain. I haven’t used them personally, but those in the family who have, say they work.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I never commented on your bed. I love it. I wouldn’t paint it, though. I think patina and wear and tear on furniture like that adds to its character. The kids and I laugh at how I shudder when we go thrifting or antiquing, and I come across antique furniture which has been refinished in chalk paint. But that’s just me.
Does the new frame work with your adjustable base?
Local store is having a one day sale a week from Saturday, and I believe BSCB are $1.79/lb. Looks like I will be heading out early to get some.

Meg.
DeleteThanks. Tomorrow, I get Salon Pas! I do love the bed but that is fake patina. I hate the adjustable base bed. So, will get mattress for much less and more comfort. People should be put in stocks in the public square for using chalk paint! That is a great price for bscb. I would rearrange the freezer to be able to buy lots.
Is it the base you hate, or the mattress that goes on top? I don’t think mattresses are as good as they were about 10 years ago. One brand in particular has seemed, in my opinion, to have really declined in quality.
DeleteYoungest has a metal bed frame like yours, and his adjustable base came free with his mattress. It sets inside the rails, (headboard , footboard with the two rails to attach them) then the mattress on top. Only the head of his base rises, not the foot.
I am picky about beds—I like a plush, pillow top mattress, which makes for a high off the floor, deep mattress. Youngest likes his memory foam style mattress which I think is simply awful! But some people just love them. I can’t stand them!!! Another kid likes sleeping lower to the floor so has a low profile, non adjustable base, (doesn’t want to sleep on anything that plugs in) but would really prefer his mattress to sit right on the slats of the base, if not straight on the floor! (Not in my house!) DD can’t stand footboards. She prefers the “Hollywood Style” bed, and used one of her first summer job paychecks to buy a white, platform bed with matching desk for her room in this house. (Blech!) She has a pillow top mattress and regular base. Honestly , her bed is simply heaven. It was given to us by an older couple who was downsizing, and I know for a fact it had rarely been slept on. They bought it from Macy’s for their guest room. DH and I used to call it “the last of its kind.” That brand does not make mattresses that well anymore! The issue is finding fitted sheets deep enough for our pillow top mattresses. I have a king, kids and guest room have full. All this to say that sleeping comfort is a very individualized thing, isn’t it?
Meg,
DeleteYour household is proof of that. I hate memory foam and prefer to have a footboard which I now have after years. And, I do not like pillowtop.
This was extra-firm mattress. But, it seems after I had raised the head and foot a few times, the firm surface broke down and my elbow or knee would sink below surface and get all lumpy. It is a nightmare to get in, out of bed, or turn over.
That’s the issue with the fully adjustable beds, unfortunately they break the mattress down rapidly. It doesn’t happen so quickly with the memory foam mattresses though. Both a sales rep at a mattress chain as well as the owner of an upscale, private, established furniture store cautioned me on that when we were shopping a few years back. The recommendation is to turn the mattress 180 degrees at the start of each season, but monthly if you use the adjustable function frequently.
DeleteI rarely raise my head, since we didn’t put an tv in this primary bedroom, and have only raised my foot once or twice when my legs ached from exercise. No way I am turning a king size mattress monthly!
I am picky about beds as well. Hate foam, hate pillow tops. I like a traditional quilted (non-foam) mattress top. Extra firm.
ReplyDeleteWe all like what we like. DS wanted his mattress (no boxspring) directly on the floor, and slept that way for many years. Fine by me. Because why on earth wouldn't I let him sleep exactly the way he wanted? Because of my own preferences? That's beyond ridiculous.
