It Broke

Tommy came back in a after going out to put clothes in the dryer. He said it would not work. Great! He called the repairman who has worked on it for many years. The appliance repairman said the motor was gone, that Tommy should just buy another.

One thing--any appliance that has been in the nasty utility room will not come in the house after being out there. So, it will not come into the bathroom we are converting from a bedroom. The other thing--it must fill with water, not just put inches in the bottom.

I have one in my storage unit that I bought from a rent to own. Getting it would involve renting something to bring it back here and paying someone to move it. I think we should get another appliance repair guy. I think this one is getting old and does not want a hard job.

In the meantime, we are hanging everything in the house. I already hang underwear and nightgowns of mine. So, we had to hang a few extra things like towels and washcloths.

Of course, this was the day that the person was coming to test the air in the house for excess humidity. And, it was raining! So, he tested the air and said he would come back on a dry day. I will not have a load of wet clothing hanging all over.

I went into Publix and got things I needed last weekend. I forgot eggs. I went back the next day, and the guy in that aisle said they had been out since last Saturday. I went in Monday at about 1pm and they had no eggs still. So, at 3 pm, I just called and asked when they would have eggs. The guy said they had plenty of eggs. When I told him I had just been in, he asked what time. Me--1 pm. "Well, we just got eggs at 2:30."  So, we went to store again

since I was afraid they would sell out by morning. Now, I can have eggs for breakfast, make one boiled egg into a deviled egg for me, and put chopped boiled eggs into my giblet gravy. Tommy hates deviled eggs.

Storms in the area missed us today, thankfully. However, the lights were out at a dangerous intersection. Tommy came home by a route that missed that intersection. Yes, we had to get bread.

Did anyone get caught in the path of tree ripping storms?

  1. We didn’t have bad storms, but did get a lot of hard rain. We had to get out in it due to my retina appointment, which made that experience even worse than usual.
Yum, on the deviled eggs, we love them here.

    1. Belinda,
Tommy hates deviled eggs, so I just make two and no more. We cancel appointments when it rains. Tommy does not drive well in the rain.

  2. I love a good deviled egg. I don't make them often, because no one else here eats them. And I can't be bothered to make only 1 or 2 for myself. If I do hardboil eggs, they are put on our evening salad or make a quick egg salad sandwich for me at lunch. I like to add a squirt of Durkee's Famous Sauce to perk them up.

I would just go see if a local big box had a scratch 'n' dent dryer for sale. Or, if you have a reconditioned appliance shop in the area, buy one of those. How old is your current dryer? It doesn't pay to spend a lot of money on an old machine.

You have a storage unit? OMG, those things are terrible money wasters. How many years have you spent renting space for stuff like a used dryer?

It is not as bad as it sounds. I made a decision to finish the meal the day after Thanksgiving and just quit working and have a bogo pizza ...
