This is my quilt/bedspread I bought at Belk's. It looks Christmasy, but not so much I won't use it year-round. HERE it is online and looks better. It may be poinsettias, but not so Christmasy. I decided to order it, put it in the cart and something popped up, checking for coupons. I paid much less for it $32, I think when it was much more expensive.
I now want the pillow shams, but cannot afford those. I will probably get over it.
Tommy said he would press cloves into an orange for me. First, he had to know what on earth it was for. The man is clueless sometimes. But, I don't count this as something I expect him to know.
I do not feel much better, just a bit. But, we washed dishes. I washed and Tommy dried. I just cannot wait for the dishwasher installation!
Right now, at 3 pm, it is 36F degrees and snow is falling, just a few flakes, but it is snow!
For dinner tonight, I decided to make the green bean casserole that I was not going to make, thaw cooked carrots, and his turkey leg. He is enthusiastic!
When my son was three and a half, he was experiencing Christmas as he could not at two and a half. He was very enthusiastic about singing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus EVERY NIGHT! He would also wish everyone "Merry Christmas Tree."
Okay, right now, I am going to drag the box out that contains the 3' Christmas tree. That will be monumental, considering my energy level.
I know your children said cute, Christmasy things. Can you share? I love these little children Christmas sayings.
The only thing I can think of is our son Joe pronounced "ornaments" as "or-da-ments" and that's what our family calls them to this day!
ReplyDeleteBobbie,
DeleteThat is cute and the whole family supported it! Thanks.
Hello
ReplyDeleteYour new bedspread is gorgeous and I think you could use it more than just at Christmas if you want to.
I remember one of our sons had a great time just saying the end line of an English poem - ‘if you haven’t got a half penny, God bless you”. And he would say it with sort of an English accent like a 5 year old would do
Rhonda,
DeleteI would not have gotten if I didn't think I could use it other times than Christmas. I would never buy a quilt just for the holiday! I am glad you think so, too.
What is that poem? That is funny that he enjoyed saying that end line. Cute!
Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat
DeletePlease put a penny in the old man's hat
If you haven't got a penny, a ha'penny will do
If you haven't got a ha'penny, then God bless you!
too many to remember! now in memory, I just loved when my youngest was 3, her older brother wanted to do the filming of her Christmas program, but he thought it was more funny to capture the yellers, the nose pickers, the distracted kids etc. Sure he got a bit of his little sister, but more of the funny moments. It was quite funny.
ReplyDeleteSam,
DeleteThat is hilarious! Thanks. I had just decided to do some memories on all posts until Christmas when I read your blogmas post.
Your quilt is very nice.
ReplyDeleteI do have sheets and a comforter just for the holiday. Last year Mom had gotten so much worse and I did absolutely no decorating other than put up two trees with only lights and bows on the top. To make me feel a little better about doing nothing I bought the sheets and comforter. I enjoyed them tremendously and can't wait till tomorrow when I pull them out and start using them again.
Anne,
DeleteI can imagine you did need some cheer. I started to get flannel Christmas sheets, but so far have resisted. Are yours flannel?

Sue,
DeleteThanks. I have heard that.
Lovely quilt. I love red. I recently bought 'mink' sheets. It was a real toss up for me as to whether to get the sheets or the comforter. In the end I got the sheets because I want to feel cosy in bed and I already have several comforters, duvets and duvet covers. Sadly I've had to get rid of many as there is no place to store them. If I had space, I would have a lot of bedding and bath towels, my weakness.
ReplyDeleteJoyful,
DeleteI never have an enough sheets. I have one set of sheets right now! "Mink" sheets"? I will have to look that up. I like to have a dozen or so towels. I currently have three! I left lots for the dump! I do like more bedding since loss of electricity calls for more cover! Now, I have two things to keep me warm. I am calling it good.
Joyful,
DeleteI never heard of 'mink' sheets. I got flannel sheets for the same reason--cozy and warm. This is all I have except for a comforter. I left lots of things behind that went into the dump. And, I have three towels! That is a nice comfortable weakness. At least it is nothing you will outgrow!
I'm quite traditional and slow to go along with new trends, hence I only ever used cotton sheets and flannel sheets in winter. I've found that they don't seem to make cotton or cotton flannel sheets as good as they used to. So when I heard about mink sheets about 3 or 4 years ago I decided to try them. I like them except the ones I have are way too deep for my mattress. Hopefully the ones I just bought will fit better. They are very nice and warm. I also just bought 2 more towels, 2 hand towels and 2 face towels. The last two times I bought a similar set of towels they really didn't last. The started fraying along the sewn edges within half a year. That has never ever happened to me before. It just shows the lack of quality these days. In fact I've had cheap towels last a lot longer. I hope the new ones will last long.
DeleteJoyful,
DeleteI once bought towels from WM, and since they were reduced and pink and white striped, I bought about a dozen. They lasted about 20 years with frequent washing and use. Now, even the more expensive ones just wash away.
Love your new bedspread. I bought several from Overstock.com a couple of months ago. They are tropical in design and will start using then in the springtime.
ReplyDeleteAnne,
DeleteI would have chosen tropical instead of what I got, but this was pretty and reduced a lot. I know you will enjoy them in the spring.
I'm sorry you're still not feeling well. To be in pretty constant pain must be awful. I love your bedspread by the way. Just beautiful. As for kids' sayings, it wasn't my kids but my ex-BIL. He used to sing "home, home on the range, where the deer and the cantaloupe roam"!
ReplyDeleteTreaders,
DeleteIt has been a real trial to hurt so much. I have never heard that "song." My children would have loved that...lol.
When my daughter was age 3, I was putting together her Barbie Dream House for Christmas. Tons of tiny plastic pieces to snap together! I had it set up in my walk in bedroom closet and would work on it at night while she was sleeping. My plan was to have it assembled and out in front of the christmas tree for christmas morning. Two days before christmas it was done. I was on the phone and my daughter asked me for a blanket, I quickly told her there are in blankets in my closet, completely forgetting about the Barbie Dream House. Next thing I knew, she comes flying back into the kitchen and says very happily, "Mommy, I found the perfect place for Barbie and Ken to live". Lol surprise ruined !
ReplyDeleteI guess Santa must have been storing it in your closet. Too bad she found it!
Deleteoh thats a really lovely quilt! I love poinsettia and always buy one for Christmas. You've reminded me I have a Christmas quilt waiting to get finished.
ReplyDeleteJan,
DeleteI am trying to convince myself these are not poinsettias and I can use it all summer, too. LOL I hope I can get one, afford one for Christmas.
That's a really pretty quilt!
ReplyDeleteOne,
DeleteThanks!
