Too Much Laughing Today

Today, I have mostly slept or just lay in bed or have just sat in my chair. I feel so horrible! I feel vaguely uncomfortable in my chest, throat, ears, and head.

I called my friend, Lynda, today to ask something. My intention was to talk for 3 minutes or so. We talked 45 minutes and laughed most of that time. So, now I am more exhausted than ever.

To show you how we joke and laugh, this happened. One day, she said she like something, maybe okra. I quit smiling and retorted, all over the phone, "Well, we cannot be friends anymore if you like okra" Or, whatever it was.

There was one beat of silence and she came back fighting mad and laughing at the same time and declared our friendship was over. Today, it was a lot of sarcasm about things happening at her work and laughter at our silliness. We laugh a lot. I always feel invigorated after our antics. But, today, it was just too much for me.

So, I am exhausted. Do you have friends that you laugh with?

  1. I have a very good friend, who is also the Godmother of our kids, that I have been friends with since we were young teenagers. We have been
laughing together for more than 50 years. In fact we still laugh about things that happened during our teenage years all of these years later.
We laugh about my Dad making fun of our Twiggy style makeup, and how he would joke about getting his big scissors and cutting her bangs, that she has always worn long, even still.

We both laugh about the time she and her slightly younger sister got into a knock down drag out fight over some thing, and it freaked me out. They were really carrying on, I just turned away, left the room, and went out the front door, thinking that I didn't want any part of that. My friend laughs about how in the middle of their fight, she noticed out the window that I was taking out across the front yard walking as fast as I could toward home. We still laugh about things our various pets did through the years, and things my kids did when they were little.

We grew up two blocks from each other. We know many of the same people and have been sad together about the kids we used to know who have passed away already. Our hearts have ached with sadness for each other when our Moms and Dads passed away. We have cried with each other when beloved kitties and dogs went over that rainbow bridge. We have each felt the wistful sadness for each other when our childhood homes passed into the hands of other families.

Friends that we can laugh and even cry with are among the greatest treasures we have in this life.

Have a good day today. I hope you will feel better.

    1. susie,
The long time friends I knew well are all gone. We, too, laughed about landmarks. Their deaths were sad milestones. I have no friends that I have known that can take up with me where we left off so many years ago that I can laugh with about the past we both know. This knew friend is as good as I have right now, and she is great and just as wacky about laughing as I am. Thanks for sharing. I feel a bit better, not so much.

    1. Urspo,
It is good to make friends with someone with whom I can laugh. I have made friends, I thought, with humorless people. We don't last long.

  3. My sisters, Sluggy and actually most of my friends make me laugh, but then I am kind of a goof ball.

    1. Kim,
It is good to have friends to laugh. Mostly, I am the one making friends laugh, but my friends are funny, too. We play off each other, I suppose.

  4. I hope you are feeling a little better now.

I had a good night's sleep last night but am inexplicably exhausted. I tried a nap and that only made it worse. Must just be one of "those days."

    1. Sue,
I feel just a tad better, not very much better. That laughing exhausted me. I did get over 5 hours sleep, not enough but I did not nap and don't think I will make it through the night...lol. One of those days, I suppose. Let's hope tomorrow is better for both of us.

Yes, I have friends I can laugh with. I actually just got back from a weekend getaway with my best friend & our close friend. We had a great time catching up! I blogged about it here: https://tlp42217.blogspot.com/?m=1

    1. Tiffany,
I feel much better not calling you Jane Doe. It seems like I have been talking to a dead person. Thanks for the link.
