Like I said, between meals I went to the doctor yesterday. I always carry a bottle of water and sip it all day long, even while speaking to a doctor. But, since we were driving straight to the lunch, I did not since I knew it would just get hot before I even opened it.
In the doctor's waiting room and exam room, I was thirsty and it seemed my throat would stick together. As I talked with the doctor, trying to explain the problem and answer his questions, my throat was sticking together like I was all dried out.
I said to him, "I am having a problem with my throat being dry and sticking together. I need water. May I have water?" He made a motion of getting up and reaching for the door, then he stopped. "I am a doctor. I don't get water." He said this in such an arrogant tone that I almost told him I would go to another doctor.
Five minutes later, I told him that if I were going to continue talking, I needed water. He very impatiently pulled the door open without getting up and yelled that, "She needs water. Can someone bring water?" I was so humiliated.
I might return once more. Maybe?
Yoo might want to read my last post, too. I put up this post accidentally too soon.

Oh my goodness! No one should speak to anyone like that. I would be sorely tempted to find a new doctor!
ReplyDeleteI am. I called the doctor's office that referred me. I am changing the doctor for one who is not so arrogant.
DeleteAlso complain to the hospital he is associated with..that is a disgrace!
ReplyDeleteBarb
I should. Maybe I will.
DeleteWow, that was so rude of him. I;m sorry you Were treated that waY. :(
ReplyDeleteBelinda,
DeleteIt certainly was demeaning. Thanks.
OMG! That is a terrible physician! No doubt. Glad that you are going to find another one.
ReplyDeleteHe is a man who is insecure.
DeleteI would not go back to him! That was very rude. He certainly could have asked a nurse or assistant to get you some water in a nice manner.
ReplyDeleteOne,
DeleteThat is just what I thought he would do. I never asked him or expected him to get the water.
I have no problem with him not getting the water himself, but to be insulting about it is a personal foul. I would just change docs.
ReplyDeleteAnne,
DeleteI did not ask him to get water! I never expected him to get water for me. I expected him to make sure I got water by asking someone for it. He is dead to me.
I did not mean to imply you asked him to fetch water. Actually what I should have said and intended was I had no problem him not getting it, but he has staff and should have requested it from them. He is going to have a very limited practice if he makes it a habit of being like that to patients. Sometimes docs forget that in addition to supplying a service, they are a personal sales person for said services.
DeleteAnne, yes, I agree. See my answer below to Dianna.
DeleteRun, don't walk, to your new doctor.
ReplyDeleteWhat a jerk
kylie,
DeleteSo true!
Some doctors are real pieces of work! I hope you can find one who's not so full of himself.
ReplyDeleteDianna,
DeleteI was sent to him as he was a specialist. It seems he dabbles in lots of specialties. I doubt many people have good luck with him. One guy who was waiting came to have shots for two children for school. No other doctor could give him appointment except for this one. I had an appointment with the doctor who then proceeded to take these walk-in patients before me. This has happened twice (once with another doctor) in the last month.
