Today, I awoke from a nap and found an Amazon box on the arm of the sofa. I knew I had not ordered anything, so I wondered.
It was a box of hair color. I am tired of shopping for it and this monthly delivery was cheaper. I put "January" on the box so I would use the ones I have and use the ones delivered in order of receiving them. I don't think it really matters, but I will label them. That way, I don't keep buying and shoving older ones to the back.
I have identified several products to order once monthly, saving me time in the store, searching for it, putting up with 40 people in the same aisle where I need to shop. Seriously, I have breathed a sigh of relief for Amazon delivery with Prime.
Tomato sauce would go on the list, but I like to be sure that the date is far out from now. Some things just need a hands on approach. Like bananas.
Tommy sits in the car for all this shopping. I fear he might not be safe sitting in parking lots. So, the less time I spend away, the more secure I feel for his safety.
Shopping and riding in the store and in the car exhausts me. Hopefully, my energy level will be a bit higher.
Sometimes, I must go to several stores for one item, either on the same day and sometimes on another trip out. I hate that, really hate that. But, when stores are stocked with everything once again, I may continue shopping with Amazon Prime.
It makes me really happy to see items come to my door and know I do not have to go out and look for or search for them.
So far, I have used the Prime card to purchase items and have paid the charges before I have to pay interest.
What are your thoughts on Prime? Have you discovered advantages I have not or did not mention? Do you use Amazon Prime?
I do not use Prime Pantry for delivery of things I can easily find in the stores. I shop one day a week (an off day at an off time) and keep a pretty concise list of things I need/want. I do use Prime for things that are harder to find because I am not going to multi stores looking for anything.
ReplyDeleteI buy all of Pip's Christmas and Birthday through Prime because they will send it directly to her address and this year I ordered a ton fo Christmas from Amazon
Anne,
DeleteSame here. I thought about buying gifts that way, but just did not. Maybe next year.
I use prime. I love it. I have ordered cat food, presents for people, pantry food through prime pantry, etc. I ordered a box spring for our queen sized bed today after the slats in ours broke (it was over 20 years old!) from prime.
ReplyDeleteRachel,
DeleteI have not ordered any food yet, but I might. I need a mattress and a bed, but I think a thrift store would be better for buying a full size mattress. Maybe prime would be good for the box spring. Thanks.
Around here the thrift store mattresses and box springs go for $400+ dollars. It is ridiculous. The box spring I ordered was originally $300 but was on sale for $119 and had great reviews. I had a $15 gift card that I had earned through swagbucks website that covered the tax and so I paid $112. Works for me as that is a lot less than what I would pay at any store around here.
DeleteRachel,
DeleteIt is against the law here to sell used mattresses in stores of any kind. Did you buy and actual box springs or what they refer to as a "box"? I have not bought a box springs since 1979. I thought I did, but the twin I bought was just a box.
I bought 3 mattresses from Amazon and we have been happy with all three. I bought one for camp where we have multiple family members spending time there, one for my double bed, but I don't put much stress on it, I'm not that heavy. The one that concerned me most was the queen for my husband's bed. He's a heavy weight and I was worried that it might not last so I got him a more dense mattress.
ReplyDeleteAll three were memory foam and came rolled in a box. Easy peasy and I'd replace them with the same thing.
I love Amazon...and I use my Prime card like you do and save the points!
Happy New Year!
Jan,
DeleteI wondered how they delivered mattresses. So, rolled foam. I cannot use foam but it is a good deal for people who can. Amazon is amazing. I am saving my points, and I don't know what for. Thanks.
We've done text books and odd things that would be challenging to source.
ReplyDeleteSAM,
DeleteI think that is a great source for text books since the choices would probably greater if you were purchasing used.
We buy all kinds of things from Amazon Prime, but no large items like mattresses. Weird things we've ordered because the stores quit carrying brands we liked. Quite a few different food products that disappeared from store shelves. The brand of chewing gum I like, hairspray, shampoo, a certain low sugar preserves that I like, shelf stable roast beef dinners that my husband likes, Minute Rice last year when unavailable at our stores, batteries. I would never have imagined online ordering of so many different items even one year ago, but it has been a good way for us to buy items even when they have been unavailable in our grocery stores, and we don't ever do in-person shopping at Walmart. Years and years ago I used to, but my husband won't, especially now with Covid. We have also been pleased that they have not yet delivered our order to the wrong address, which the Post Office and Brown truck UPS have done. Knock on wood that they continue to have reliable delivery.
ReplyDeletesusie,
DeleteI will never search for things again, just order from Amazon. That is how I finally got Dawn original. I would never imagined ordering online at all! Nothing has ever been delivered to the wrong address, either. Thanks.
I use Prime for pee pads for my dog. Its a specific brand and not always avaiable in the stores. We also purchase gifts for our grandkids using prime.
ReplyDeleteLisa,
DeleteGetting the brand I want in certain things is important. I ordered e-gift cards for grandchildren. It was so easy.
I've had Prime for years and it is worth the price. Free shipping for me and my husband enjoys Prime Video.
ReplyDeleteLori,
ReplyDeleteI am new to Prime. Tommy won't let me watch the Prime Video. He thinks it costs to view!
You just have to make sure it says "included with prime" under the movie title. They have a lot of good movies. If you go to my Prime it will tell you all that is included in your membership. There is quite a bit.
DeleteLori,
DeleteI thought I went to some place to find all Prime movies. See, I have no idea and he won't look. I will go to my Prime and see what else there is.
I use Prime for so many things. I have had it for years and feel it is worth the money. I order items several times a week. Recently I have ordered boot shoe laces, envelope openers, denture powder, 2 android tablet, vitamins, 2 phone case, refills for my amope-pedi perfect heel sander tool, 2 egg bite makers, & pantry moth traps.
DeleteWhen you open the Amazon app on your laptop you will see Prime video next to prime on the strip under the search window. It is true that they do have some movie rentals but they also have a TON of free content. If you do choose to rent a movie it is generally $3.99. I feel this is a very reasonable price.
I also save my points. I think I am going to purchase a battery powered pepper grinder. I am having one heck of a time using a manual grinder with my arthritis and poor hand strength.
Jan,
DeleteYou really do use it for lots. I will use it for more as I go along, I am quite sure. My hand strength is low because of injuries along with age-related arthritis.
I don't have an Amazon Credit card. I only buy certain items that are on the smaller side (except the shelving unit I've been eyeing for long and bought recently. I do have a Prime Account so it sometimes helps with shipping and I mainly keep it for that and the videos.
ReplyDeleteJoyful,
DeleteThe cc is handy for keeping up with what I spend, and by paying it off before interest is due, it is a good tool. I need to check out the videos and convince Tommy to watch them.
In addition to the things above, you can read some magazines for free each week with Prime.
ReplyDeleteI order our supplements from Amazon and save a bit on them as I have them on Subscribe and Save. A few things I like and order frequently, I have that way, but don't get every month. There are some things I get every other month or every three months.
I do like how I get an email that my subscription order is coming up. Sometimes I don't need the item yet, and I just delay it a month.
Alice,
DeleteI have something I am going to order to be delivered, forgot what. Because I have medicaid, I get it for half price. It is a really good deal for me.
