Church is Opening Up Fulltime Since Pandemic is Over--RANT

On July 22, 2021, Tommy's church official called and said the church program would be open full time since the pandemic had eased. WHAT? I went ballistic! They had been wearing masks and sitting far apart in the sanctuary. Now, Sunday School is being added. Tommy was defending their move. This is effective August 15. Hopefully some of them will see the folly in this move.

We won't be going or I will know why. I will be as angry as I feel. He said he had not been to church since last March. I cannot see he has suffered.

The person told him everyone had been vaccinated. Well, I doubt it very much. These are all of the party of Trump and probably prevaricate. I do not trust one of them!

Call me mean. I don't care. I have serious health problems I have not mentioned here and I do not intend to catch covid at church. Don't they read about the low vaccine rate and rising cases in Alabama? Tommy knows exactly how I feel about this and the fact I think they will lie.

If he goes back, I will be forced to go with him to assure he does not remove his mask and that not one of these old ladies gets close to him to hug him, squeeze his arm or generally endanger us. I yelled at a lady at her own yard sale last year because she got within six inches of my face in order to be heard over traffic.  I did the same thing to a cashier who took off her mask as she came close to me to help me. I will yell at these women, too. THEN, they will demand to know what illness I have.

I am just sick about this thoughtless decision.

  1. You are wise to stay away from church for now. Hopefully Tommy will come to see the wisdom and stay home too. Until everyone is vaccinated and the Covid is beaten down like polio and other diseases we must be careful. Cases are also rising here again and that's because vaccinations have slowed. There are many younger people especially who haven't gotten a vaccine and they are the ones ending in hospital and also the ones that spread the disease.

    1. Joyful,
Hopefully, he sees it like it is eventually. Tonight, he said they probably will not open up after all. But, the word now is that they will.

  2. I should clarify, it isn't only young people spreading Covid but people who don't get vaccinated and take precautions. Take care.

    1. Joyful,
I understand. remember, this is a Red State and they follow the party instead of science, most do.

    2. We have that going on here too. Though the politics are different in USA and Canada, our Red state equivalent is the province of Alberta.

  3. I completely understand how you feel. I don't know when people will realise that watching a live streamed church service, is the same as being inside the building. God is everywhere. You don't have to be in a church building to spend time with him. It's foolish to not take this virus seriously. I still wear a mask, even though all restrictions have been lifted in our state. My family in South Africa has been in lockdown again. The death rates are so high there. Thankfully they're all currently getting vaccinated.

    1. Ms Goose,
He insists none of the churches in his denomination live stream. Now, how does he know that. He only takes it seriously when I comment. Then, he gets over it. It must be hard to be so far from them. Thankfully, they are getting vaccines.

  4. We had a local church here come back from a trip out of state with 40, yes 40, COVID cases. Moreover, the church proceeded to carry out services immediately following the trip, without informing its members, let alone even others who had been on the trip, that they may have been exposed to COVID. Such a love thy neighbor attitude, don't you think? Lucky for me, I don't step foot in churches like that in the best of times.

    1. Meg B,
That is horrible! Attitudes like that are why I do not trust them to not lie about vaccines. If Tommy were not going to his church, I would not set foot in that church! Yes, great attitude in that church! Imagine not telling others!

  5. Our church sent out a letter last week they are opening up everything (church, Bible Class, childrens Sunday school etc) in a few weeks with no restrictions. I do miss going to the live services but dont want to start going yet with the variants being even more contagious.

    1. Ann,
You are wise! Hopefully, these churches will realize the folly of these decisions.

  6. I thought you and Tommy were Baptist. Am I wrong? And I do know there are different kinds of Baptists, but Alabama has many live=streamed Baptist services. Gardendale First Baptist is one of the biggest.

  7. Indeed this is a bad decision.
Even in Elizabethan times during plague they kept folks away from church knowing it would be a place of contagion.
    wear your mask.

He still won't admit that church is a bad idea, but said they will not go back to full services. We do wear a mask everywhere.

  8. I have a relative who is not vaccinated and doesn't wear a mask unless it is required, and attends a very large church, works, and has recently traveled out of state for another person's birthday. I love this relative dearly, but I worry so much that she could expose my daughter's family to Covid. She is a big help to my daughter and visits there often. She is a really good person but I worry that she could expose our grandson who is 11 and our 7 month old grand daughter to the virus if she became infected and didn't know it. These are such worrisome times. I have never done so much praying (at home, I don't attend church at this time) for such an extended amount of time in my life. It is stressful not to be able to take any other action myself to make things change so we can live without this virus causing sickness and death.

    Take care.

    1. susie,
The situation with the relative would worry me to death! Even if a person is not worried about her own health, it amazes me me that people don't take the other person in consideration. I certainly hope she does not infect your daughter and family. Yes, these are worrisome times. I am doing the best I can to stay well and not infect anyone.
