It should not be so hard to shop online. But, I want hands-on most of the time. This is hard!
I need a magnifying glass! My sight is not getting that much worse. The print is ridiculously small, and getting smaller every day. The print is getting smaller every day. NO, not my eyesight. I don't need help to read a book. I need it to read things like the print in instructions, like for my camera.
When I saw a pack of 8 handheld magnifiers and told Tommy, we had a good laugh. Admittedly, light would help, but this house does not have good lighting like my house did. We imagined putting one in every room, one by each of our chairs. When I cannot read something on an article in the kitchen, it is lack of light. Mostly, I can read anything with enough light.
Today, I faced print I could not read even holding it under a lamp or using a flashlight! Tommy could not read it either. Usually, one of us can struggle and read any print. This print is too hard.
We will buy several and different sizes. The Book of Mormon given to me is so fine print that I asked if they had one with larger print. I don't need one in Large Print, just something less tiny.
Amazon is confusing me. There is just too much...lol. I really need a magnifier store to shop in person. Do you use a magnifing glass ocassionally? I don't need one to use all the time, just sporadically, sometimes for a word or two and sometimes for a bit of text. I won't be using it for a book. I am thinking about getting at least one with a light.
How do you use a nagnifing glass? Instructions? A whole page? In dim light?
I have this one and have been happy with it. It is only $3.99 today. Wapodeai Magnifying Glasses, Magnifying Glass 4X Handheld Reading Magnifier for Seniors & Kids, 75mm Large Magnifying Lens with Non-Slip Rubber Handle for Reading and Hobbies.
ReplyDeleteLana,
DeleteThanks. I will look for it.
I do use and have several. I have never purshased one. I have my Mom's and a friends who died. My favorites is about a 4 inch diameter. It lights up, the casing is black and it has a nice size handle. Makes it easy to hold.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could look at a view when you are out and about, Write down the name and price. Then compare to amazon to get the best price.
Texas,
DeleteA light really interests me for at least one glass.
I have looked and usually see only one. I had two at my house, but of course, now I don't have them. They were cheap ones from long ago, but they worked.
I've used the magnifying app on my iPhone at the grocery store (when I don't have my glasses with me).
ReplyDeleteBobbie,
DeleteI will have to see if I have that app on my phone. Thanks for that.
Someone has a huge glass, which he uses to read fine print on line or in papers. I will ask him where he got it.
ReplyDeleteUrspo,
DeleteThanks. Name too, if you please.
I have been thinking about getting a magnifier that has a light that you wear on your head so your hands are free. I have seen them on Amazon, but at the time didn't check the price. Maybe they will be too expensive. I need them mostly for reading the information that comes with medication. And also, it seems like I am always wanting to study something tiny that calls for a magnifying glass. I've been thinking about doing my folk art painting again, but I would need the magnification to see tiny details that I like to paint. I used to be able to pick up a paper with the smallest of print and read it easily, that was about 3 years ago, but now after hving the macular hole and surgery on one eye , I struggle to read small print , if I can read it all. I think the poor vision in the macular hole eye throws the vision off in the good eye. I have to take my glasses off to read close up. I have been putting of getting bifocals. I think they would bother me.
ReplyDeleteHave an adventurous day!
susie,
DeleteI saw the magnifier that you wear on your head and thought that might be good. It was a little pricey, but what value is being able to see?
Those papers that come with medication are the worst. I finally figured out what the problem was yesterday--print was not only tiny but in grayscale!
I am facing a possible macular surgery. It scares me.
Get progressive bifocals. You will love them. Maybe there will be an adjustment period, but you will love them. The adjustment period is worth it!
susie, I put off getting progressives for a long time. So I have both kinds of eyewear. I prefer regular glasses for driving, but the progressives have become a must for reading the newspaper. I think giving myself several years to switch back and forth at will has really made the transition much easier and more pleasant. I wear my progressives about 80% of the time, now.
DeleteSue,
DeleteI would think switching back and forth would be stressful. I got progressives when I first got glasses. It was hard getting used to progressives for me. Hard getting accustomed to wearing glasses at all.
It worked for me and my stubborness. LOL! I was loathe to commit 100% to those progressives. I have been wearing glasses since I was in 2nd grade. It took years, but I finally realized that constantly pushing my glasses up/down to read print (like at the store) was a pain in the butt.
DeleteI take a picture on my phone and then zoom in to read it and I’m doing that more than ever these days.
ReplyDeleteBellinda,
DeleteIf I knew how to do that, I might. I never thought of that.
Belinda, I have been known to do that!
DeleteI bought one at Rite Aid, which has a light button. We got it several years ago for DH and Youngest's road trip, to make map reading easier. I do not have a link, but may I suggest you get one with a light? I use it frequently when I am wearing my contacts and my reading glasses are nowhere near. Try looking, when you are at a store, near the area of reading glasses, etc.
ReplyDeleteMeg,
DeleteThat is part of the problem--I am not often in a store that has reading glasses. When I go to Publix next, I will go to school supplies and see if there is something cheap and next to useless but will serve my purpose until I can order or find one. Years ago, I went to WM and found nothing, even near eyeglasses. They must have been out. A light is a must on at least two. The rest can be without lights. Thanks.
