Lynda, who cannot eat cucumbers for the heartburn, tried a cucumber sandwich. I sliced the European/English cucumber so thin you could read through it. Still, it caused her a bit of a problem. So, she won't be eating even these mild cucumbers. But, she did like the cream cheese mixture.
I went to the cardiologist today. We left the house at 9 am and arrived home at 4 pm! It was such a frustrating day and visit. So, the cardiologist will be inspecting my arteries soon. First, Tommy made a wrong turn into a construction site. Then, I encouraged him to keep going. Well, there was no way out like there was when I had classes in the Humanities Building at UAB.
Then, he took me to the wrong building and insisted the doctor was there last time I saw that doctor. No, the cardiologist has never had an office there. We spent a long time there just trying to get a wheelchair. Of course, I had to return to the car!
We searched and found the building I needed to be in. I was late and watched people leave who arrived after I did. The doctor spent 5 minutes with me and left me with other people who, like a well-oiled machine, came in one after another and did their thing to my body.
We are both drained. Can you see why? I have no idea what we will have for dinner. He tells me there is meat in the refrigerator, corn and peas. That is his choice. I will cook anything he wants to peel! But, I did not mention this...lol. My spine is hurting so. My feet are swollen which makes my knees hurt. And, my back itches like fire ants are on me. But, we are home and my feet are up.
In the meantime, I am planning a day of food for Tommy when he waits for me all day at the hospital. I bought another jar of Planters peanuts, Light Salt. I will put some into a baggie for that day. He likes string cheese. Plus, I will give him oj and peanut butter crackers, applesauce, grapes or raisins, maybe both. He would appreciate a hearty turkey sandwich. Oh, a dozen chocolate chips, too. Halo.
Did I tell you that my a2milk is now $4.99 for a half-gallon? Well, this week at Publix it is 3/$10. Yay for that one grocery win.
My dinner was Special K, banana, and milk. I may have an ear of corn. I didn't have corn!
True story. A woman endured 20 years of abuse from her husband who also abused their adopted son. He broke her bones and hospitalized her with his brutality. He was even seen by neighbors dragging the woman across their apartment parking lot by her long hair. Finally, she feared he would kill her and her son and she divorced him. A few weeks after the divorce was final, she caught covid. He insisted he would take care of her and bring her soup. She objected that he might catch covid. He came anyway. He caught covid. He died. The end.
I really depend on the humor of Frasier to help relax me at night. Do you have a favorite to help you unwind?
I find reading your blog relaxs me. I usually check it late night because I can't sleep. LOL
ReplyDeleteTexas,
DeleteThat is a nice compliment, I think, unless you are saying it bores you to sleep...lol.
No it does not bore me. It is like having a relaxing conversation with a friend. Hearing about their day, what they they are planning, how they are feeling. I truly enjoy it.
DeleteTexas,
DeleteI am glad you are there. Some people complain about my blog, but I just am glad they leave or quit complaining...lol.
Linda I wanted to let you know that John passed away Monday afternoon/evening at about 5:40pm. It was a very relaxed gentle death. Of course I will miss him desperately but I am also so glad that he is no longer so helpless and confused.
ReplyDeleteI also had Special K this evening for my dinner .
Janet,
DeleteI am so sorry. Of course, you will miss him, but there is relief in that he is not so confused. I do know it was a burden you gladly bore for him. I will try to call.
I love Special K, better than anything but Kelloggs Raisin Bran which no longer agrees with me.
I like to watch reruns of Hazel on YouTube, Also reruns of What's My Line. Maybe I just like watching black and white TV shows for a change lol. I hope you day at the hospital brings positive results.
ReplyDeleteLisa,
DeleteI like humor, too. However, I never watch reruns on You Tube. When my television broke and I could not afford another, I watched things on my laptop and got so tired of it sitting on my lap and everything being so small! Maybe I could do it again now that I have gotten over it...lol.
I'm sorry you are having such a hard time. I hope the cardiologist can figure something out. Maybe you guys could have meals on wheels bring you some meals until you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteOne,
DeleteThanks. We are not eligible for meals on wheels. We can get out of the house, so not housebound. I knew a neighbor who got meals on wheels. She had money and a family to help her, but was housebound because they convinced her to give up her car.
I love watching reruns of "The Office" to unwind. Gentle, ridiculous humor. "Andy Griffith" is also very, very soothing! "Bob's Burgers" and "King of the Hill" reruns are also nice.
ReplyDeleteWhen I am in the mood for sassy contemporary commentary, I really enjoy "South Park." I lost interest in The Simpsons a long time ago.
Sue,
DeleteWe can never watch tv together. I despise all those shows except for Andy Griffith. lol
You're right, Linda. You never watched Downton Abbey, which I find unfathomable!
DeleteI think our watching tv side-by-side in our recliners is only a pipe dream.
I have nothing against Downton Abbey like the others you mentioned. Tommy won't because he says it cost money. I even have hulu free and he refuses to find anything because he says it costs money to stream there. I don't think so, but he will not even look.
DeleteI miss cereal. I can't eat it anymore because it sends my blood sugar into the stratosphere. Seriously, I may as well inject simple syrup straight into my jugular. I have tried keto cereal, but it tastes worse than sadness and despair.
ReplyDeleteI get the same reaction with pasta. I think it's because cereal and pasta are so highly processed.
Bread (especially gluten-free) is less of a problem, but I still stick to very low-carb bread, buns, and tortillas as much as possible. The only "real" bread I'll eat is the stuff I bake--and then only small portions.
Sucks to be me, man! ;^) :^) :^) What I wouldn't give for a huge bowl of Raisin Bran Crunch with 1/2 & 1/2!!! (drool, drool)
Sue,
DeleteI would eat Special K and milk and bananas every day if it were left to me. I only buy it once in a while since it makes my blood sugar soar, too. Pasta and rice, the same. I stick to two slices, max, bread each day. It should be only one or less.
I have never had gluten-free bread. Maybe I will try it.
I never had the Crunch. It seemed like it would be too hard for me. I would have to let it sit and soften.
Sucks to be me, too! I cannot understand how people crave booze and tobacco when there is cereal to be had.
As someone who had a violent husband I have to say I appreciate a good karma story!
ReplyDeleteTreaders,
DeleteI said "GOOD," And she said she was a Christian and could not say that. I snorted.
I hope you get some answers from the cardiologist! I can't remember that last time I ate a bowl of cereal. Maybe I should make dinner be a cereal night in the future. I am sure the kids would love it!
ReplyDeleteRachel,
DeleteNot many!!! Do you ever have breakfast for dinner night? I would do that but he said he never had that when he was a kid. So, he is against it. If you could get some fruits and vegetables in them and protein, it would not be a bad dinner nutritionally. Oh, never mind, it would be so easy....
