I decided not to make salmon croquettes on Monday night. A chunk of meatloaf in the freezer along with a bag of instant mashed potatoes and turnip greens was dinner. I went to sleep in my recliner and was staggering when I awoke. The meatloaf was easy and delicious--thaw a bit and microwave.
It rained all day long. Tommy opened the door once but did not go out. I just stood on tiptoe and looked out the fanlight. It seemed damp inside all day. ugh
There is something wrong with the new cell phone. I called Dr A and Dr B showed as the person calling me back. However, it was Dr. A's office and nurse. I have never had this happen before. This is very inconvenient! So, I suppose I will have to take the phone back.
Several days ago, I uncovered a blue ribbon I won in 2017 at the Cullman County Fair for some dehydrated produce in a canning jar. The ribbon might have been for canned tomatoes. I have no idea how it got here, but I am not complaining. It may be the only ribbon I have won in my lifetime that I still have. I have been winning ribbons and trophies since I was eight. And, they were not participation ribbons and trophies; I actually placed and won the ribbons. I have no idea how it got here.
Little by little, I do get things done, so it seems I am always behind. Monday, I found a box of dark brown sugar. Since I had a quart canning jar with about half a box, I emptied the whole new box into the partial box in the quart jar. I don't use enough brown sugar to keep it fresh in an opened box, so it must go into a canning jar. Even an unopened box with the heavy plastic liner will eventually gets hard as a brick. Glass works well to keep brown sugar soft.
We finally got the turkey breast into the trash. It was already thawed when the electricity went off. I was too afraid of it to take a chance on eating it.
A FRIEND DIED! Diane was a wonderful person. This news was a shock. She was only a year younger than I am and died of a heart attack.
Since I like Coke and Tommy loves coffee, I decided to try a can of Coke with coffee in it. The Coke is mixed with Coke at the plant. I did not mix them. Finally, I opened it and took a sip, my last sip. Tommy refused to even taste it. It was horrible. Have you ever tasted Coke with coffee?
I slept 30 minutes Tuesday night, Now, it is time for a nap.
I got a free can at the store, but I don't drink coffee. I cannot imagine how bad it is.
ReplyDeleteIt is so nasty! I only took a sip. I poured it down the drain.
DeleteYour phone should be a simple fix - sounds like just a mix-up on adding numbers to the phone.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine Coke and coffee - but I can't stand coffee or really even Coke products. If I have something, I prefer Pepsi.
Cheryl,
DeleteThese numbers were transported from the old phone. Not a mix-up in my input at all.
It is nasty...run!
I can't even imagine how bad that would be for me on so many levels, not to mention its taste.
ReplyDeleteMy atrial fibrillation would probably really pitch a b**** about the caffeine in that combination. Most likely I'd end up in the hospital getting a cardioversion, and those are not fun. I don't drink any caffeine of any kind, but I do
sometimes eat chocolate. I don't notice it doing anything. I drink decaffinated tea. The doctor said I shouldn't even take any of those eye drops that get the red out, because they could effect my AFib. I don't have to take medicine for heart rhythm at this time, but I have mild Afib off and on much of the time.
Maybe if the Cocacola and coffee was served as a warm drink it would help the flavor...or maybe it would make it worse. All they would need to do is add some nicotine to the coke and coffee and some people would have a full breakfast from it and be full of energy.
Have a relaxing evening.
susie,
DeleteThe taste was nasty, very nasty. I won't be relaxing because against my better judgment, I had a Coke with caffeine. I can only do that about once a week or less. I don't know if I have afib, but I have to watch the caffeine. The tea I drink is decaffeinated. I really don't think warm would help this drink for me since I hate the taste of coffee.
Plus, we have tornado warnings again! This is not a relaxing time for me. Thanks, though.
My husband (a huge coffee drinker) loves the Diet Coke with coffee! The problem is they're very expensive (over $1.00/can).
ReplyDeleteBobbie,
DeleteI am glad someone likes them. I did pay too much but just once and then poured it out.
How nice that you found the blue ribbon! I love that it brought back your memories of other trophies/ribbons you won. 2017 was not that long ago--you have a great competitive spirit!
ReplyDeleteYes, I have tasted that disgusting coffee/Coke mixture. I don't think I've ever had anything as foul in my mouth. I love coffee and I love diet Pepsi, but coffee and cola together is foul!
I am sorry that your friend passed. I am still mourning my friend who passed last September. I talk to her often, hoping that she can hear me and knows how much I love and miss her.
Dinner tonight was Trader Joe's Kung Pao chicken, with frozen broccoli/snap pea/carrots and vegetable pot stickers. Plus leftover pineapple rice (which I did not have) from Thai takeout this past Sunday. I am thirsty as heck and guzzling water, so there must have been quite a bit of salt in the food. Oh well.
Sue,
DeleteI have won ribbons since then and I think I won the Cullman County Senior Spelling Bee since then, too. I do like to compete.
"Foul" is the perfect description of the taste! Ugh! I don't love coffee.
This is lot of friends I have lost. I suppose I should be glad I am left to mourn.
I have never had that dish, but I like all the ingredients you named. Salt is the subject of tomorrow's post.
