Anxiety Rant

One thing that really bothers me is knowing medicine I take and need is produced in China. Like I have said, China's lack of concern for life, human or pets, really bothers me.

This concern is one thing that has kept me up at night. (I have a long list of worries.) Last night, when I could not sleep for other reasons, I came back in the dark living room, got my med from the refrigerator. I was relieved to see it is made in Denmark. That knowledge is a great relief to me. Now, if I could just rid my mind of other problems I see, ones that actually do exist, my mind's life would be calmer, thus mine.

For my part, I think none of our meds should be made in China. I stand with Eva Perone--bring manufacturing back to our country. Also, I don't think car manufacturers and such should use our soil, our people, and our resources to enrich another country.

Even Clinton said he made a mistake by sending manufacturing to Mexico and other countries. I know it ruined the work lives of many in Alabama. I was often in sewing plants, cutting rooms and cloth manufacturing plants. However, I never worked in either of these industries. And, the quality of fabrics has declined while the prices have risen.

So, this whole post started out of my concern for a country with a terrible record on human rights manufacturing and my medicine.

What concerns in the world, other than Ukraine's present problems concern you?  Don't bother to tell me to pray or God has a plan, because if prayer were the solution, all our problems would be solved.

  1. I disagree on the car manufacturers here because our son is an engineer for one and the models that are made there are only made in that plant. Also most of the parts for those models are made in America. The auto manufacturer is on a rural part of your state and they employ hundreds who would not have those high paying jobs if they had not built the plant there. They are required to hire locals unless they cannot find someone qualified to do the job.

One major reason I am anti-vax is that most vaccines are made in China and the FDA is not allowed inside those plants. We don't take any meds so I am not concerned about that right now.

    1. Lana,
Why doesn't the US manufacture more cars and not bring in outside interests? Maybe the people at the Mercedes plant could make the same salary and profits could stay here in the US.

I found this article that does not say Moderna is made in China.
      https://www.the-sun.com/news/1808193/moderna-covid-vaccine-made/

Granted, I did not check other vaccines. If you have info about a vaccine being made in China, let me know.

    2. American auto manufacturers chased away their customers with shoddy products. Who can afford or wants to drive a Mercedes? Not us. I am very happy with my Honda. We recently drove an American made rental car for three weeks and I wouldn't give you a nickel for that hunk of junk. Sorry but I don't have a link for you on Chinese made vaccines but they have been made there for a long time. The Covid vaccine is another topic altogether and you would not want to hear my opinion.

    3. Lana,
We can make decent cars. But, greed also engenders shoddy merchandise.
I do know other countries make the covid vaccine, but they are not used here.

  2. I agree on the clothes. Last summer, I bought two sundreses from Belks. There are no Belks where I love so ordered online. They were beautiful. I wore them a few times. When I washed them, every seam came apart. I will not but from Belks online again. Cheap made and cheap material.

    1. Barbara,
I hate that for you. It is difficult enough to shop for clothing online, but then to have things be poor quality! It seems the day of good material is gone. Or, it is beyond the means of most people.

  3. I feel the same way about medications and dog food being made in China. I read several complaints from people about certain dog foods which had a bunch of gravel at the bottom of the bag which they found after their dog had eaten the rest of the food. They were filling out the required ounces of weight needed for the bags by putting gravel from who knows where into the bags at the bottom to trick people.

I also really loved the way I had to stop taking two different high blood pressure pills, after taking one for several years, and having it recalled because it was contaminated with some chemical related to rocket fuel. The doctor prescribed a different high blood pressure pill and I was taking it for about a year and then it was recalled,, also. Once again because of contamination with a chemical similar to rocket fuel. That chemical in those pills is a known carcinogen. What in the heck!

Have they already declared war on our dogs and us. I started cooking ground beef or chicken for Fuzzy after the first dog food contamination notices and continued for years, until I was unable to do it because my knee pain got so bad. Then we were able to find a food that seemed good and had limited ingredients and was made in the USA. After awhile the original owner sold the company, but everything seemed ok for years, and Fuzzy was eating well. Then all of a sudden he stopped eating it right before his 17th year. We took him to the vet and he had bad liver problems, a heart murmur and possibly cancer. we were told he had from 2 weeks to two months more to live. I am so thankful that we had him for 9 more months instead. After the visit to the vet I stopped the store bought dog food completely, and his appetite came back great and he started feeling better again. I will always wonder if there was something in that commercial dog food that messed up his liver.

To me it was so much better when we were making products here in the USA. Working Americans in my opinion, were sold out by manufacturers, and officials in our government who keep getting richer from the decisions they made to manufacture so many products in other countries.

I am concerned about the meanness, ignorance, pettiness, and lack of concern for others that is going on in our country right now. I have never seen so much meanness from so many people in our country before.

    1. susie,
I had not heard about gravel in dog food. I do know that melamine was in baby formula to raise the protein count. Well, that is what I think it was. So, maybe wrong.

You maybe may be correct about the liver damage. That is sad. Long ago, I determined I would never feed dog food to a dog. I would not even feed chicken food to my hens.

It is more profitable for the owners and government to send work away for cheap labor.

It is not just the meanness, but the fact it is glorified. You are certainly correct about meanness in my opinion.

  4. I agree with you. Too much of what we rely on, especially medicines, are made in China. It's almost impossible not to buy something made there, these days. I do try to make an effort to purchase products mfg'd here in the US. The dog food I use is made in the US, but I told my dh that if we get another dog someday I'm feeding him fresh/home made dog food.

    1. One,
It might help your dog to live a longer life if you switched now. I am quite sure he would not mind fresh meat. Add green beans and sweet potatoes and other good things.

It is a shame we have so few choices due to greed. The meds are what really bother me.

  5. I didn't realize just how many meds come from China. And I agree, I don't think Chinese-produced meds should be allowed in the U.S.

All I can say is thank goodness for that brilliant billionaire Mark Cuban and his Cost Plus Online Pharmacy. Now there's a man who is using his wealth for the good of the common person and helping to punch a whole in the blockade that drug companies have on pricing.

    1. Sue,
That would be a good thing to find out, too. I buy generic guaifenesin (Mucinex). It is cheaper than the name brand. The last I bought was manufactured in Mississippi, about 200 miles from me.

He has a manufacturing plant in Texas.

  7. Last time I heard nearly 100% of our generic Rx are made overseas, where quality etc. is not directly supervised by folks here.
