Sue, The firs self-check I used was at Kroger's. Nothing ever went right, so I had to find someone to help me. This was before there was someone assigned to the self-check registers. It was so frustrating, I gave up after about two years. Now, I cannot reach the buttons or the bags to put merchandise into. So, I never use them. Someone must help me every time!
love self check outs. can make sure prices are right as i scan. can bag like i want bagged and im the only one to handle my stuff. It still takes machines, programmers to handle operations and people to input prices. Its just a different type of labor.
I receive a small retirement check from the UFCW (The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union) My previous husband was in the union for many years and I continue to receive a portion of his retirement monies. It would be wrong of me to use machines which might put workers out of a job. I do not use the self check out in grocery stores.
Janet, You are correct to support the workers. Places with many self-checkouts often have only two checkers in the whole store. It is not a good trend.
Good Frigging Question!
ReplyDeleteI HATE self-serve checkouts. Bad enough that I usually have to bag my own groceries these days, but to check myself out as well?
