Wednesday

Tuesday night, I went to bed at 3 am, lay there 45 minutes, crept into the living toom and stayed on the laptop for a about an hour. Finally, I went to bed really tired. I awoke only once and went right back to sleep. I finally awoke at 11:45 am, feeling much better this morning! Only the aftermath of loosening congestion remains. YAY me.

As I looked around me, I cannot believe how much stuff I have just dropped. This is such a mess! Why are there three 3! plastic bags in one place and two in another and still more? Tommy stops and carries cups, plates, banana peels, and bits of paper to the kitchen for me. I would have to fight my way out of here if not for him.

A storm is approaching, close by right now. I can hear the thunder. Hopefully, we won't lose electricity and no one will be killed.

I remember seeing Gunsmoke, either when I was a teen or very young woman. I remember I thought Kitty was a floozie! All the makeup and beauty mark, trashy earrings and such. Well, I was very young. And, I have worn the same chandelier earrings myself! I grew up.

Today, I have things to do just to catch up, nothing to get ahead. I may not get it all done.

bake 6 lbs of chicken with the three potatoes, radishes, and a couple of onions

color or at least wash my hair

all the pumpkin and acorn squash are still here

put canned food on shelf or in bedroom

make toast so I can taste the honey butter

freeze at least one bag of Savoy cabbage

make tuna salad

There is more that should be on the list, but it makes me feel overworked just to look at a list right now. It is only 3 pm and the skies are darkening for the storm.

Just being up for three hours is draining, but I should accomplish some of this list.

I will make the tuna salad like I did years ago, like I love it. Over the years it has devolved out of laziness and necessity. Stay tuned for that tomorrow. I need to rest!

  1. On days when I don't feel well and don't pick up after myself
the messiness of the house can become overwhelming amazingly fast. My husband keeps his mess mostly in his computer room.
When a day comes that I able to clean,it takes so long because there is such clutter. I need to find a way to get more done faster.

We have found a breeder who has black Pomeranian puppies like what we want, but a puppy cannot be brought home here as long as there is anything that a puppy could/would hurt themselves with. Fuzzy was grown and was always very smart about not eating goofy stuff, except for a short time when he was a puppy and he chewed some of the belt loops off of my husband's pants, and he would chew the holes in the toes of my knee high stockings I wore when I used to work. I'd get home and take off my shes and socks and he would sneak away with the knee highs to bite holes in the toes of them. He grew out of that very quickly.

I know most people think the best thing is for people to adopt a dog from a shelter, and that is a good thing. My husband and I have always bought our dogs from breeders so we had a better chance of the dog having specific characteristics we wanted.I say always like we have had so many dogs. We haven't. We have been married 47 years and have had 4 dogs during that time. Our dogs have all led long lives. Our first Pomeranian died of congestive heart failure at 13 1/2, we had our Sheltie and Collie at the same time 14 1/2 years for the Sheltie, 15 for our Collie, 17 1/4 years for our little Fuzzy Pom. We prefer to get the exact dog we want, we have never bred our dogs, and we have given them a good home for their entire lives.

You mentioned watching Gunsmoke, I have started watching some of the old westerns in the early morning. I used to watch the International news, but I have had to stop doing that,it is too worrisome. I prefer Cheyenne, and the old black and white
episodes of Gunsmoke. They get me so relaxed that a lot of times I don't see the end until later in the day.

Before all of my knee problems, I used to really get a lot of cleaning done late night, but now my legs are worn out by that time, my knees don't hurt now,but my leg muscles tire easily.

I just heard our weather cast say that we may have snow flurries on Friday. That is just abut enough now.

    Have a nice evening.

    1. susie,
Tommy makes a mess always, but usually gets it up eventually. I have done of what I needed to do, but I do need to bake the chicken right now!

I can imagine stuff would have to be cleared away for a puppy. Your dogs live long lives, so I know you take care of them.

Cheyenne is not something we watch, not sure why. But, I do choose Gunsmoke over anything. I need to watch the news!

Cleaning at night is what I prefer to do, but now get nothing done! Now, it seems I do nothing ever.

We got a quick shower here, nothing drastic at our house. But, I cannot imagine snow.

  2. I am happy you feel better. I have been having problems sleeping too. I seem to want to stay up all and then sleep in the daytime. I hate it but can't seem to turn myself around. Before I know it is dark again and I don't seem to want to clean at that point. LOL

I love a good tuna salad sandwich, please share your special recipe. I tend to use only mayo, onions, boiled eggs and celery.

    1. Texas,
Thanks. Me too! When my sleep problems get me sleeping all day, I finally figure out I was getting ill some of the time. I try to take a shorter nap and then I eventually get sooo tired, that I sleep a bit more at night. It takes about three or four days.

If I am not tired, I don't mind cleaning late. I would do things after Tommy goes to sleep, but he sleeps in the living room that is by the kitchen. Well, it is across the hall but still where he can hear.

I will write that up tonight for the tuna salad.

  3. I'm happy to hear that you're feeling better. I need to color my hair too. It's such a chore. I don't have much gray hair, but they pop up so fast.

    1. Ms Goose,
Thanks. This morning, it seems like everything is worse. Hopefully not. My hair is solid white and I hate it.

  4. I thought Miss Kitty was the most glamorous thing I had ever seen in my young life! That red hair, those fabulous, fancy clothes. I even loved her beauty mark. I liked the way she could boss men around, too.

I went to bed super tired last night and slept for a solid 8 hours. Felt so good!

Like you, I have a huge, long list of things to do just to catch up. Not even talking about getting ahead of my tasks. Sigh. Okay, coffee is finished and it's off to the races! Hope everyone here has very productive days!

    1. Sue,
She was different than anything we had seen alright. Even at my age, I am impressed with the way she handled men and took nothing off them.

Well, I slept three hours and do not feel good at all. I think I overdid it when I cooked more chicken...lol.

Right now, I am just waiting to go back to bed. A long day nap is what I need, but I will limit it to two hours instead of the four-hour nap I really want.

  5. That was a lot of noise about nothing! I think James Spann and the rest of them enjoy spreading unease or either just like the extra screen time!

Some people do say they make too much of nothing. But, if a tornado does hit, I suppose a bit of caution is best.

  7. i AM JEALOUS THAT YOUR HAIR IS WHITE! (oops ...stupid caps lock) I have a childhood friend who's hair is a beautiful silvery white. I was hoping I could go to a beautiful shade of gray or white but nope! Gray hair has become popular out here even on young women.

For 35 years I wore my hair short and spiky. The last 3 years of short hair it was purple. During covid I decided to grow my hair out both color-wise and lengthwise. I was extremely disappointed to discover that I am only gray on the front of my head and still quite dark brown in the back. At this point I have no hair style. I simply twist the sided back and gather it all into a pony tail. Not really a good look for a woman who will be 72 this Summer!

    1. Janet,
I hate my hair is snow white, sort of like Santa! It is not sivery at all. Hate it. Since I cut 8 or more inches off the back a few weeks ago, I have NO style, just a mess. I never knew you had purple hair. I want pink hair.

    2. With white hair turning it pink would be easy! Maybe you might want to give it a go. I had a lot of fun with the purple. I found a brand that was for brunettes. It didn't require peroxide or any other damaging chemicals. Nothing to mix! It stained anything it came in contact with but it looked great on my hair. I don't think I ever went anywhere without receiving positive comments!

    3. Janet,
I am not that brave and the place I live would not be much accepting. Maybe when I go into a nursing home...lol. Do you have a picture of it purple you could email me?
