That's a lot of little bags of herbs! I need to use them in things I cook and bake, even the ones I have never heard of. There is quite a bit in each. These little snack bags were in two larger bags. FOR A REASON! I had Tommy reading the names to me and he just dumped them all together when he put them back in the two large bags when I told him to call out one bag at a time. Now, I have to try to breathe them while I separate them back into the two large bags. No, I just had him separate them with him putting them in proper bag. Too many scents are suffocating to me.
I am not sure we ever got above freezing today. Well, maybe for an hour or so. I can see daylight around the front and back door and there is a breeze when it is cold and the wind blows. I asked him if he knew about seeing daylight around the back door. He exploded and told me to quit saying things about the dust and I could leave right now if it did not suit me...to just get out now....He is an idiot.
I am sort of feeling better but still have vertigo. I did sleep better after getting the nasty, dusty cpap from the room. It was sitting on the nightstand right by my head. After he turns off the tv, I am cleaning more in the bedroom. That way, he won't be aware.
Tuesday night dinner was all vegetables. We had a grilled cheese sandwich about 4 pm because I was hungry. About 7:30 we had dinner: two sweet potatoes each, large serving of crowder peas, and tomatoes. Tommy ate the two large sweet potatoes. I may have tuna and Miracle Whip about 11 because I want it. There is no bread!
I need to boil eggs for my protein fix.

It was 20 degrees here this morning (Fahrenheit, not Centigrade). The door from our kitchen to our patio lets in lots of air. Last night I took hand towels from the bathroom stash and stuck them in the cracks. Easy peasy, just folded them in half vertically, then took a table knife and poked them up and down the length of the door frame. It works wonderfully well. I live in a wonderful house compared to the one I grew up in out in Texas, where everytime it rained we used every pot and pan and bowl we had to catch the leaks from the corrugated tin roof. Such fun -- NOT!!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of some of those spices and wouldn't know what to do with them. We use basil and oregano and lemon pepper and that's about it. Maybe you can experiment with new sweet potato dishes.
There are two foods I could eat every single day of the year and not get tired of, and that's turkey and tuna fish.
rhymes,
DeleteI don't think a hand towel or anything could be shoved in these slivers of cracks, but the wind sure can zip through. I have had my share of leaky roofs!
I have heard of all the spices, but I have not used all of them. I like my Beauregards plain. Another variety might benefit from spices. But, I do have plans for these spices.
I agree about the turkey and tuna. Because I worry about mercury and radiation, I have cut back on my tuna use.
That's a nice variety of spices. I use herbs d' provence in olive oil to dip crusty bread in.
ReplyDeleteAnn,
DeleteThat sound delicious. I like bred dipped in olive oil. One thing I have not replaced is olive oil.
It was 15 degrees here last night, so we have an old thin quilt that we push into the crack around our old front door with a butter knife. Once we have the quilt tucked in there,we are in for the night. Of course, we are usually in for the night anyway.
ReplyDeleteIt was so nice that a fellow blogger sent you a big selection of spices to use. I was not familiar with many of the spices you received, but I don't normally use a lot of different spices. I love lemon thyme, even when it is dried it gives a nice fresh lemony flavor to salmon, or salads made with chicken or tuna. I love sweet marjoram in everything that sage could be used in. I used to grow those myself along with chives that I use fresh instead of onion sometimes. I love the flavor of basil, but have never had any luck growing it myself.
I am so out of step with everyone I know when it comes to olive oil. My grown kids and my husband's sisters and their families all love warm bread dipped in olive oil with oregano and seasonings or without. They could star in a tv commercial with the pleasure they have while eating it. The love of olive oil just must not be in my genes. My grandparents had dairy cows, and my grandma used to make butter and they sold the cream, butter, and buttermilk that they didn't use. I tried so hard to like olive oil dipped bread, but all I could think of was how good that bread would have been with some butter on it, I bet oregano would be good on butter bread though. My mom and dad used to eat bread with every meal. I never cared that much for bread at all as a child and often made my balogna sandwiches with one slice of bread and extra balogna. I only used bread to keep my hands from smelling like balogna afterwards. When I was a teenager I started loving toast and butter. I remember when my mom had an upset stomach she used to like to tear up a piece of bread and put it into milk to eat. I never tried that. I think that might have been an old time food way.
Walgreens sells a medicine called Bonine without prescription for motion sickness and dizziness. It is right by the Dramamine on the shelf. My husband and I use Bonine for occasional dizziness that we sometimes get. It does have a possible side effect of drowsiness if you take it, but it has always worked well for our dizziness. I keep it on hand at all times because our vertigo attacks just seem to come out of the blue. Mine are related to fluid buildup in my ear from allergies.
Have fun cooking with your new spices. And congratulations on the progress you are making with the projects you are working on around the house.
I do like bread and milk at night. I love bread. I think this problem is allergies from this dust. I don't dare put anything in the cracks since he would snatch it out and yell. I love basil but did not grow any this year. Thanks.
