Found Money, Blueberries

I am exhausted, so telling of our adventure today will have to wait.  We left the event early because my back hurt so that I felt I was going to throw up. A late nap has made my back quit hurting a bit.

At 8 pm,  I had Tommy drive me to Publix to get candy to take to the lunch on Sunday. When I came out, he told me how he found money. As he sat in the car, parked and waiting for me, he said the thought he saw paper money.

He got out of Rogue, got his walker out of the backseat and walked to the middle of the lane/road right in front of the store. A man in a car stopped to help him pick up the money. It was a $5 bill! He was very happy.

He went on to tell me that he found a $100 bill once, and twenties and lots of ones. I never knew!

Today was a beautiful day but cold and breezy.

A box with two blueberry bushes found itself in my basket. Now, I just have to keep it alive. I did no research to determine if this grows well here. It was an impulse buy. Right now, the blueberry bushes are on the porch, getting their freeze hours? Now, I need two bigggg pots. They will produce in 18 months.

Breakfast was banana and milk. Lunch was a turkey sandwich we took with us, a Halo and water.  Tonight, we had lots of cabbage and two small pieces of potato, and half a turkey sandwich each with lettuce and tomato.

  1. Your turkey sandwich sounds so good to me right now, but I am still babying my wisdom tooth hole from having it pulled on Thursday. Strange how having a tooth painlessly pulled with local anesthetic shots made me feel so weak two days afterwards. It must somehow shock the system. I still haven't managed to buy a cabbage to cook, but your posts have me wanting that, too.

A few years ago as I was walking out of the grocery store on a windy fall day, a little whirlwind of leaves blew past me, and something caught my eye. It looked like a dollar bill in the whirlwind. That was when my knees had first gotten kind of bad. You wouldn't believe how fast I stiff leggedly went after the leaf whirlwind and captured that bill. It turned out to be a twenty. I put it away and saved it for a very long time. It felt like my lucky money. Finally, I ended up spending it though. I also found some dollar bills in a pile of leaves that had blown up against our fence another time. It seems that Fall must be a lucky time for finding money for me.

    1. Susie,
You are right about being so weak. I have had things done that in the moment did not hurt but seemed to linger. Maybe eating something really good will help. Well, that is what I always think. It seems some cabbage would be good for you and not hurt the tooth.

I love your description of the chase of the leaf whirlwind. Once in a while I can chase something for a short distance...lol. A twenty is good! Maybe I should start checking fences for bills!

  2. $5 is a nice find. I think the most I've ever found is a quarter.

    1. One,
Technically it is Tommy's find. But, it will be spent one way or another. I have been lucky enough to find $18 once. Now, it is mostly quarters or less.

  3. It’s my understanding those bushes are hardy types. Good luck

  4. I found a $50 bill once. It was in my car in a bag on the floor and no one else had been in there but me. I had only a few $10 and $1's so I knew it wasn't mine. I never could figure out where it came from

  5. Sorry I have been missing in action this last two weeks. Up in Oregon taking care of my mom after emergency back surgery. She is pretty easy to take care of and mostly watching to see that she doesn't over do it as she is very independent. My son found a 100.00 bill blowing down the road when I was in the post office a few years back. He was waiting for me in the car and jumped out and took off and said he saw something that looked like money flying down the road. He was so excited. He thought it might be a dollar. Was he ever surprised. Take care!

    2. My son was in his 30's when this happened. I just realized that the computer I'm using at my mom's house doesn't say who this is. This is Crystal from Nevada.

    3. Crystal,
I would be excited, too, in my 30s. I would now, but I could run then...lol.

  6. I find pennies... Our friend in Huntsville said both his wife and him are hurting all over and feel like crap. He thinks weather, she thinks virus.

    1. Chef,
I don't think this is a virus, just pain. However, weather could be part of the problem. I have found two pennies this year.

  7. Blueberry bushes need an abundance of water. Ours are planted where storm water runs off and they love it. Our first ones planted in well drained soil died off.

    1. Lisa B,
I will keep that in mind. The county agent said they would grow in pots, so I will have to keep them watered well, I suppose. Thanks for relating your experience.
