Synching, Saving, ETC UPDATE UPDATE

Walgreen's offered the chance to synch my medications, making all of them due for refill on the same day. This will save many trips to the pharmacy. Sometimes, we sit for 30 minutes to get one prescription. At that same time, I am denied the opportunity to pick up a refill on a different medication until the next day. That is so discouraging.

Just now, I received a call, saying the name of med and asking if I wanted a refill tomorrow. This is an upgrade from the mysterious calls saying a have an unnamed prescription and to please call. I let them know my displeasure when I get a call and then they do not know what to refill. !!!

Going inside does not shorten the wait! Nothing helps, so you have to go with the flow. This opportunity at Walgreen's will provide relief. Does your pharmacy offer this service?

Going into the thrift store looking for an ottoman cost me. My back has been hurting ever since that foray. Well, it got better Sunday.

Using the elliptical pedaler has helped my feet not to be so swollen. Getting an adequate amount of sleep has helped, too.

It is Monday morning. The plumber was to be here at 9 am to fix plumbing to install the dishwasher and finish the installation. It is now 10:20 and he will "be here soon." This is making me nuts.

Do you have synching with your prescriptions? 10:30 and still not here. You can see how this is going!

UPDATE

Dishwasher installed and cost $389! I am horrified at the cost.

  1. Sadly this is the downside of Medicare and prescriptions.Medicare has specific rules about how often they will cover prescriptions. We were going to Mom's pharmacy several times a month to pick us her various meds. At the end of the year, her pharmacist called all of her docs offices to have new prescriptions all beginning on the same date in the new year. The one stop shopping was so nice.

    1. Anne,
The rule is a good one and bad at the same time. I have to go about six times a month, sometimes on the following day! It is good her pharmacist did that for her. I am trying to get Tommy to do the same with his few meds.

  2. I am on a Medicare Advantage plan and I use their mail order pharmacy. And I never even have to call them, they just send me my six meds when they have decided that I should be low. You can't ask for more than that. Also, Costco was charging me $30 for one of them and the mail order has absolutely no charge on that med.

See if you have any mail order pharmacies available to you.

    1. Anne,
I am sure I do, but don't want to depend on the mail. I might get them that way, not sure.

  3. My Walgreens offered synching more than a year ago. I didn't take it. I have so many--all refilled at different times that I didn't think they could work it out. I may have been wrong.

    1. Carole,
I have many meds because of allergies, now heart and diabetes. I was skeptical but decided to get it. Walgreen's must be rolling this out a bit at a time.

  4. I have mine and my mom's (medicare advantage plan) on mail order and like Anne commented above, they are set up to auto refill and they do a good job of mailing the refill to get them before you actually run out. I remember my sis in law was having to go to the pharmacy a couple times a week for her parents. I told her to do the mail order, but they wouldn't do it.

    1. Tommy and I were discussing mailing. We are considering it.

    2. Plus the mail order is typically for 90 day supply, so that's convenient, too.

    3. One,
I was hoping I could at least retain my 90 day prescriptions on their schedule. Thanks.

  5. I just have on prescription, so not an issue, but I'll keep your experience in mind for the future needs.

    1. Cindy,
I don't either. I feel so powerless and know it will cost a small fortune. Thanks.

  7. I still pick up my prescriptions so it is done when it is convenient for me and I usually go very late when it is not so busy. The pharmacies here all do refill orders by phone or internet and they deliver too at no extra cost which is a very good service if you cannot get out. Do you have home delivery for prescriptions? Maybe that would be good for you. I'm glad to hear that your feet are no longer swelling so much.

    1. Joyful,
We go when we can and must get out for something else. And, late is not good for Tommy to drive. They do deliver at no extra cost. I asked Tommy why he does not have his delivered or mailed. He said he needs to get out of the house. I cannot argue with that.

    2. I understand the need to get out especially during these times. I too need to get out and the library, grocery shopping and pharmacy are my only outings these days.

    3. Joyful,
And, he never goes inside any place he goes. So, just a drive for him.

  8. Sorry about the cost of installing the dishwasher. I'm hoping you can get some of your "installation" funds back from where you purchased the appliance.

    1. Joyful,
I called with that question. Yes, I will get all the installation cost back. I am really relieved about that. Still, that goes back onto my card. Tommy paid for the installation.

  9. Our pharmacy is a CVS in Target. Any time I go into target I end up buying something. Our prescriptions have been synced for several years. When Covid began they asked if we would like to switch to 90 day supply. They will even deliver but I haven't used that service.

We were able to get appointments for the Covid Vaccine! I go on Wed and John on Thursday. We are actually getting them at a grocery store! Albertsons/Vons! I am delighted that we don't have to stand on line like you have to at some of the community clinics. The largest vaccination location is downtown San Diego at the Ball Park. That one is a drive through one. I understand that even with appointments you still have a long wait down there. I think I would prefer waiting in the car to standing around for a long length of time.

I can't wait to hear more about the dishwasher. What brand?

    1. Janet,
I hope I can get a 90 day supply, at least the ones that are already 90 day ones. Congratulations on getting appointments! I wish we could have appointments here. I have seen the long lines of cars in larger cities.

Whirlpool. It is a brand I trust, like, and can afford. Mostly, I got it because the utensil basket is in the front of the dishwasher, just like the last one I had.

  10. So glad that your dishwasher is installed. Hopefully that will ease some of the dishwashing duty that is hard for you. Sorry it was so hard to get it installed.

It has eased my mind and body! It exhausted me having it installed! Thanks.
