This a picture I took and won 3rd place in a photo contest. This was in my front yard on the treat table.
I decided to get 2 little boxes of Animal Crackers for the twins who are 2 years, 4 months and so cute. From a distance they look like my son, sturdy little black-haired boys.
The manager told me "they" don't sell Animal Crackers in boxes anymore, just bags. First of all, I do not believe that. Because I was in doubt, he said, "Well, we don't carry them here." I am not going to give them that huge bag, and I don't want to give one to share. So, I moved along and got two plastic cups of Teddy Grahams. I also have two cups of applesauce and two dum dums are in the car. Since there are only two of them, I can be generous...lol. If I can find the blowup balls I bought on sale, I will give each one a ball, too.
I know I could have found boxes of Animal Crackers elsewhere, but I am not interested in looking.
Are you ready for Halloween? What are your plans? What costume are you and children wearing? Do you make costumes or buying them?
Today and tomorrow I am decorating the house inside and out and doing some preliminary cooking for tomorrow's dinner.
ReplyDeleteUrspo,
DeleteYou are so ambitious. We like pictures of your work.
That sounds like a sweet gesture for the 2 year olds. They do sell animal crackers in boxes. I bought a couple a few weeks ago at Kroger. We went trick or treating tonight with the boys. They were Mario and Luigi from The Mario Brothers game. I bought there costumes this year as I didn't have the time or energy to make one.
ReplyDeleteRachel,
DeleteThanks. Their father took the battery out of my car last week, so this is just to be nice to a nice man. You know it and I know it--Animal Crackers do still come in boxes. They were out, so this was a ploy to get me to buy a huge bag. Your kids costumes sound cute. I understand being too tired and pressed for time.
Linda, I don't think stores will put one over on you! My guess is he genuinely didn't know boxes were still sold. Profit margins likely higher in small boxes anyway. Your picture of melted candles is pretty cool.
DeleteSAM,
DeleteI have heard people in stores tell a customer that a certain product is not in the store, discontinued, of that the customer is mistaken. The manager is dedicated to making sales or either they are just really stupid. I don't believe he thought boxes of Animal Crackers are discontinued. I don't like him for his shenanigans.
SO TRUE! I had a favorite coleslaw dressing that was only sold at 1 store in town. It hadn't been stocked for over a month, so I asked the manager about it. He acted like I was insane and swore up and down they never had that dressing in the store, ever! Oh. Okay. I guess I was just HALLUCINATING that I bought it for years and years! :^(
DeleteSo I called the company and learned they no longer produced it. That manager was an incompetent boob and I was ticked I was treated like a crazy person.
Sue,
DeleteI have had it happen to me, like I was making things up. I saw a man struggling to find what his wife sent him to get. The manager assured him they did not carry that. When I said they did, the manager assured me she was familiar with all the products and it was not there. So, the man bought something else as a sub for what his wife wanted. I went and found what he wanted and managed to catch him as he checked out. He was so grateful and bought it. I took another package and took it to the nasty manager. She was nasty at first and then thanked me for showing her. I thought maybe she was still mad at me, but she spoke to me from then on.
I meant- the manager wouldn't be able to put one over you- you're wise to the ways. Plus,he may have just not wanted to bother finding out, and that's also jerky.
DeleteSAM,
DeleteI am sure they have, but not every time they try. He is not helpful, ever, to me. No, he rushes about, but he is really lazy. Yes, he is a jerk.
Traditionally we don't celebrate Halloween in Australia although there are a few who insist on it, most notably the supermarkets. Anyways, I dont have decorations or treats. My nephew was born on Halloween so it's easy to remember his birthday!
ReplyDeletekylie,
DeleteWhen it finally catches on, it will be wild and fun. Not everyone decorates, but decorations are easy to make, like ghosts and drawn pumpkins. That does make it easy to remember. What does he think about being born on Halloween?
Here in CT Halloween is still on the 31 and at night. There is nothing lamer than Halloween on a Sunday afternoon.
ReplyDeleteIt rained all yesterday so we did not have much time for decorations. We have big (3 ft. +) plastic hollow pumpkins that light up, so we put out 3 and called it good. No inflatables this year, even though we have really cool ones.
Waited until the last minute to buy candy, which was super dumb. We had to buy *Christmas* candy! Christmas Rollos, Christmas Kisses, Christmas Reece's PB trees. I'm sure that will perplex the kids. "Merry Halloween"? "Happy Christmas"? At least it's candy...
It's a gorgeous, mild night here in central CT, and so far we have had 16 trick-or-treaters. Last year it was one. The Great Halloween Nor'Easter of 2011 (it's a Wikipedia entry!) kicked off a full decade of horrible weather on Halloween, but tonight is beautiful.
Do ya'll get teens on Halloween? I really love it when the older kids come out to bag their share of free candy. They are always in jeans & a hoodie. So I make sure to compliment them on their awesome costumes. ;^)
I wrote this comment once!
DeleteWe have Halloween on the 31st, too. The kids were going to a family party on Saturday night. But, they did not come here tonight even with an invitation.
It is pretty tonight, cool about 50F. You have more decorations than we do.
Candy with Christmas on it is still candy, so there won't be much complaining, I imagine.
I will look up that storm.
No teens or anyone because of no lights on at the house. All his lights do not work! I would give teens candy, too. They are just big children.
