Glorious Monday

Monday is a beautiful day, blue skies and not a cloud,  72F so far, It boosted my mood to get out of the house for an hour and sit in the car in the park. My mood today is ruled by the antibiotic that makes me feel so tired. I am not grumpy at all. That would be too much work. I feel lethargic.

Fire ants are on a planter on the front porch. I told Tommy months ago they would come in the house if they were not removed. I bought Amdro Fire Ant Bait. You don't put it in the planter, but all around it. The ants feed and take it back to the nest, killing all the ants. They feed late in the day, so I will go out just at dusk and give them bait.

Okay, a nap is kidnapping me, so I need to go to the bed while I can still walk.

Do antibiotics ever make you feel crummy?

  1. I never am sure if it is the antibiotics that make me feel worn out or the sickness that I took them for.

It was sunny and beautiful here today, too. I opened the front door and looked out for a little while and breathed in some fresh air, but the sun was so bright that it penetrated through the holes in my eye shield and made my eye/brain/side of my head ache, so I closed the door and came back in.

I made it through the 7 days of face down time that my retina surgeon required after a macular hole repair. I didn't do face down time in one of those face down massage chairs (I'm too large for one of those chairs and if I ever managed to get my knees bent like that, 911 with their jaws of life would have to come to get me out of it.) I sat in my chair with my head hung down looking at the floor or my belly, walked around with my head hung down, tried laying in bed which made my shoulder hurt, so went back to sitting in the chair with my head down looking at the floor. For some of the shows my husband and I watch together, we synced up the notebook and the TV and watched them together. The whole week I kept thinking of that old song from the late 1950's - early 60's, Hang down your head Tom Dooley, Hang down your head and cry. This week I am having that worn out lethargic feeling that you speak of. I had been taking antibiotic drops in my eye,and prednisolone drops. I don't know if those small doses would make me feel bad. I think it was the stress of worrying about the surgery and if I would be physically able to keep my head down that long. The surgery didn't hurt at all. They gave me a relaxer sedation and numbing shots into my eyeball in the white part so they could make small cuts in my eye to insert their instruments. I watched from the inside of my eye as the surgeon removed a layer of the inside of my eye using a little tweezer like instrument and it seemed like some sort of suction to remove the debris. It was very interesting to watch and nothing hurt at all.

I think maybe I am just worn out from feeling off balance and not being able to do my usual activities.

I hope you will feel better soon. This time change stuff doesn't help the way anyone feels either, in my opinion.

    1. susie,
I thought they no longer did surgery where you had to keep your face down. If I had sit without my feet up for a week, I would be in bad shape! The jaws of life would work. I loved that song Tom Dooley.

That is interesting about the surgery and your description. I had no idea. I may have to have that done because my macula is wrinkling and tearing the bacck of my eye. Hope not.

I can imagine how you feel after a week of hanging your head down. Well, there are only 11 days of antibiotics left, so maybe I will make it. I just want to stay in bed but never do. The time never affects me at all. Well, I am not working, just want DST back/.

  2. My daughter just finished a round of amoxicillin, and yes, she was tired. I hope they do what they're supposed to and you are better soon.

    1. Belinda,
Thanks. I feel better about an hour before time to take it again! Discouraging. I hope the bait kills them in weather this cold. I just don't want them in the house.
