Back in Style

My favorite makeup is back in fashion!

Here HERE

I will still wear a navy eye pencil, but not the eyeshadow. That may all change. I never wore baby blue. A dark shade of blue was my choice and will be now. I have not worn any eye makeup since spring 2019. Maybe it is time to start again.

My older shamed me out of wearing any blue eyeshadow. I don't fear her wrath, just don't want to look too ridiculous and out of style. And, I don't try to follow the latest fashion. I will find some new blue eyeshadow that suits me. It won't be applied as liberally as these models wear their blue eyeshadow.

Do you or have you ever worn blue eyeshadow or eyeliner?

  1. Those blues are quite different from the baby-blue hues of yesteryear! They are smoky, gray-blues. A world of difference.

I never wore blue eyeshadow (or blue eyeliner), and I never will. I wear browns/taupes for eyeshadow, use a brown-black eyeliner, and only wear black mascara. I just don't have the temperament for wildly colored makeup.

Not that I've been wearing it much, lately. In the space of just a two months, I got a very painful chalazion in one eye (that still needs surgery to resolve it fully) and a whopper of a stye in the other (that has fully resolved on its own, thank you Baby Jesus!).

So I had to throw out all my eye makeup and haven't replaced it yet. I look so much better with it on, yet I don't miss cleaning it off every evening. Clearly I am not motivated enough about my looks.

But YOU should wear what makes you happy. If that's bright blue eyeshadow, then go for it. You will look outdated, but that's the tradeoff. I mean, I wear loose fitting t-shirts (who wants to wrap the back bacon in saran wrap, AMIRITE?!?) and capri pants. And they ain't flattering--I've seen pics. But I'm comfortable and have some weight to lose before I bother with new clothes, so I'm willing to frump it out for a while longer. And that's a tradeoff, too.

    1. Sue,
I was wearing smoky blues when my daughter told me to stop...lol. So, I did. I don't intend to wear outdated eyeshadow. I am not that dedicated and brave. I have never worn any other color until my daughter told me to stop...lol.
All my makeup has to go since I have not worn it since Feb 2019.
That looks painful on your eye. Surgery? That is too bad. AND a stye? I have never had one but I hear they are painful. My sister had them all the time.
If I look clownish, I will not be happy, so no thanks on wearing whatever. Oh, I never wore tight shirts even when I was skinny. At some point in weight loss, getting a few new things always helped with weight loss. But, that could be just me.

    2. Thankfully, the chalazion is on my lower lid this time. When it's on the upper lid--yeesh! They flip it over and clamp it into place while they cut out the scar tissue. It's...so not fun. The lower lid excision is much easier on my nerves.

    3. Sue,
That hurts me to think about the flipping and clamping and cutting. I cringe. I think I would need to be sedated well, just knock me out.

  2. I say if you are going to wear it, pick a color that enhances your eye color. I rarely wear it anymore, I am always rubbing my eyes due to migraines. I have hazel eyes, I find a little copper, gold and brown works well to highlight the eyes. I wore different shades when I was young but I can not longer pull those off. Before you decide I would research on the internet what looks good for your coloring and eye color. You could even go into a beauty store and try some different colors. I hate to buy something and find it does not look right. Makeup these days is so expensive.

    1. Texas,
There are days I cannot wear any eye makeup because I am rubbing my eyes because of allergies. I know what color is best for my eyes--dark blue shadow and eyeliner. My eyes were actually black until about 10 years ago, now dark brown. If I don't wear that dark blue, I wear a gray that has a blue tint to it.

I would hate to have migraines. I did once for a few months, figured out what caused it and now never have any kind of headache. Now that I have said that, I will probably start having headaches!

  3. I have such dry eyes now that I haven't worn any eye makeup for a while, except for some brow color, because I have calico cat colored eyebrows. A few bright white brows creeping into my brown ones and then some stray black ones. I can't make my brows very dark or I look mean. My blonde hair has all grown out and gone away, and I am left with medium brown hair with a very few real shiny grays lightly sprinkled in mixed in. My hair used to get blondish from the sun and only needed a one step brush on color that I could rinse off in the shower. Now I don't like to stand so long in the shower and the salons all want to do multi step chemical coloring that have scents in them to cover up the chemical odors. The scents give me horrible migraines. I even offered to pay them their regular price for coloring hair if they would use the stuff that I used at home that is one step and doesn't have the horrible scent, but they said they could lose their license if they did that.
I used to wear a very dark brown thin eyeliner, or a very subtle dark mossy green/brown/gold flecked eyeliner. If I wore eyeliner I used a very pale subtle lavender shade very lightly applied, or a very light beige color eye shadow. I really wish I could find that mossy green with a little gold in it, eye liner again. It really matched my brown greenish eyes and brought out the green. I would also really like wearing mascara again if I could find some that doesn't smudge off under my eyes, even though I only use it on the top lashes.
I still wear moisturizing foundation and lipstick and blush. I like gel blush. I like lipstick that is sheer, dark pink, and glossy. When I get home from doctor offices or stores all of my lipstick and blusher are inside of my mask, and my face is back where I started before I put on my makeup.

    1. susie,
I have never seen calico cat colored eyebrows! How interesting. I have offered to pay their big bucks to put on my color I use at home, too. No way. Now, I sit in my recliner and apply it right there and hobble to the kitchen sink to rinse it out. It works for me and the quilt has not been ruined, thankfully. I have not used mascara since I was in early twenties. My eyebrows are thick and dark, but short.

After I wore makeup with my mask on and it was all inside the mask, I just quit wearing makeup at all. Since I am still wearing a mask, I may never wear makeup again. Just put it on me when I die.
