A Nightgown with Pockets!

Tommy bought a nightgown for me after I told him what to get. It has pockets, deep, side-seam pockets! Can you believe that? This nightgown feels like the brushed nylon ones I wore many years ago that made me so hot. This one is brushed polyester, so not sure how it will be to sleep in it. Polyester does not make me sweaty like nylong does. But, I have other plans if it does not work out for a nightgown.

The nightgown may be perfect for wearing in the house, but not sleeping. It is long, has long sleeves, a high neck and keeps the draft from this house from freezing me. Plus, I will have my phone in the pocket. My summer nightgowns don't have pockets.

I planned to go to Cullman today, but it was raining. About a quarter to noon, Tommy said it would be okay to go. So, in 15 minutes, I finished my breakfast of a turkey sandwich, washed, dressed and we were in the car.

The Farmer's Market was closed tight. This was the last day and we got there in the last 45 minutes of the year. Oh well. We went to PO. I was going to pick up Tommy's paint by number that had been mounted. But, time was short as we needed to be back here by 3 pm. We came screeching in at 2:45. whew

The worst weather today was about five minutes of mist. Right now, it cold and miserable after a day of gray skies. Because I was ill and still feverish, Tommy left the heat up a bit for me last night. Hopefully, he will not want to turn it down tonight, either.

Since today was the last day for present ads, I went to Publix, had someone put the Publix app on my phone and the coupon for a2milk. So, I paid the same for a half gallon of my milk as Tommy paid for a gallon of regular milk.

It is only 8 pm, but feels much later since I had no nap and am still sick and become exhausted easily. If it weren't for the fact I need to take meds and sit up for the next three hours, I would go to bed right now.

I have been looking for red and some green construction paper. The package I bought had one sheet of red and no Christmas green. On Amazon I could find packs of each color for about $25. Same at Office Max for red or green copy paper. I just don't need a ream of either. At Publix, I found Crayola construction paper, 89 sheets, 8 colors for $3.39. Perfect This has been something I have searched for all year long.

Tonight, we had turkey for me and chicken cubes for Tommy. We both had baked carrots and broccoli and two Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookies. I had about a Tablespoon of shredded medium cheddar cheese on my turkey. I am too tired to talk about the ads, but they were good. Tomorrow.

I am so delighted and proud of my nightgown with pockets. Have you ever had or even seen or heard of a nightgown with pockets?

  1. It sounds like you had a busy day. I have never had a nightgown with pockets, but I have robes with pockets. I sometimes wear flannel pajamas and the top has pockets. Lately they have only had plaid flannel pajamas and I don't want anymore plaid ones, I want a pretty tiny flower print in a pastel color. I also love satin covered flannel long nightgowns. They are so soft on the inside and smooth on the outside. Lately I have been wearing my pastel nylon nighties, with some soft stretchy slacks under them and long sleeve tee shirt/or layered tee shirts. I layer them as I get cold as the night goes on, and by morning as my body feels warmer I take one layer off at a time.

That reminds me of Fuzzy Pom. I have two thin polyester nightgown, one is a light pink and one is a dark rose pink. I still wear them. For some reason Fuzzy would always wag his tale and dance all around me when I put on the dark rosy pink one. I never did figure out why, but that was something he did quite often. Maybe that was a color he could see better. Anyway, I always think of him when I see that nightgown. I won't ever throw that night gown away no matter how thread bare it gets.

I am very disappointed tonight. It turns out our son won't be able to come home for Thanksgiving after all. I just found out tonight and am feeling kind of deflated about it. I hope he will be able to come home for Christmas.

    1. I understand the layering at night. I just cannot relax with pants on. They are loose enough, just the waistband bothers me. I am not sure I can handle even one plaid nightgown, so I am not going there. I have two worn out summer night gowns that are white with tiny pink flowers, then another two that are pink with tiny flowers. I hope to find more like those.

That is funny that only one of the nightgowns caused him to dance around. I do wonder why.

I am so sorry for your disappointment. I know that is hard for you. Maybe he will be able to come home for Christmas. Where is he now?

  2. My son is in the Netherlands. In a year or two he will have more than his 20 years in the Air Force, so he will have a good retirement pay from it. I hope he doesn't sign up for another few years for any reason. He owns a house in Florida from when he was stationed there for I think it was for two years. He currently rents it out and has a bit of income coming in from that. It is in a part of Florida where they don't get much hurricane damage, near the last Air Force Base he was stationed, so when he put it up for rent , it was rented very quickly.

    1. susie,
It sounds like he has done well for himself. I know you will be glad to have him back. Florida is closer than the Netherlands.

  3. I think a nightgown with pockets is a great idea! You can always have a tissue with you.

    1. Jan,
It was delicious and had only celery for seasoning, so especially nice.

  5. I can well understand your delight with your pocketed nightgown! I think every piece of women's clothing should have a pocket/pockets somewhere. Men's clothes do; why not ours? I recently hopped on the "joggers" trend and am just delighted with the pockets on them.

Do you "do" trends in clothes? I had gotten far away from caring about fashion, but I am starting to be interested in the practical trends, like joggers. I am only 5'4", so athletic wear pants that don't drag on the floor and get all dirty at the heel is a huge bonus for me. And yes, I've heard of petites but they aren't always available.

    1. Sue,
I don't "do" trends. But, if one comes along that works, I am all for it. I wear what feels good, mostly...lol. My daughter has trouble finding short clothing. She sent me a pair of pants that did not fit her, commenting they were too long. Well, they were barely long enough for me.
