When I ordered Glad Kitchen bags from the internet, the price was over $32. I cancelled that within three minutes. Today, going into the store saved over $12. Plus, it would take until Dec. 9 to arrive. Due to my procrastination, we only had three bags left. So, I saved money there. Since it is Tommy's money, he really likes it.
Tonight, we had sausage and kale flatbread pizza with broccoli crust. I thought it was delicious. Tommy thought it was so-so. I mixed up a little fruit salad for me that Tommy won't touch--grapes, apple, banana.
We went out long enough today to pick up meds for Tommy from a drive-up window and get two things--garbage bags and Claritin. I really wanted to browse, but I resisted. We did sit in the park for a few minutes.
I don't feel well tonight. For more than 24 hours, I have had the feeling nothing empties from my stomach and gerd and hiccups plague me! Plus, three dogs from next door barked for over an hour today--one barks, one has a long woof, the other is a yappy, tiny dog. It is maddening. They did bark at other times, too, so this is continual noise.
See? I told you nothing much.
How was the weather in your area? Tornado warnings?
We had what they called a cold front here but I walked half a mile to pick up my car from the shop, had to have a lot of normal maintenence done, changing the oil, engine and other filters changed. New wiper blades. The battery they installed last spring was not good so they replaced it no charge. There was a problem in the electrical system to the brake lights, so that was fixed. I spent $477 and would you believe one of the tires is low so I will have to go back tomorrow to have them checked and filled. I try to stay ahead of things.
ReplyDeleteI think you have an Aldi's nearby. I know you and Tommy have a hard time with getting in the store and shopping. I get all of my trash bags, aluminum foil, freezer and storage bags there.
They have had the best price here, Believe me, I shop for the best prices. I have not used there pick up curbside service but it might be something to look into.
You are very good at finding the best prices you can for the freezer and pantry. Please continue to share things you find that can be a be a benefit to so many others, I know we all live in different parts of the country but there are so many things we don't consider or look at until someone else tells us.
Best wishes for a happy holiday and hope you were able to enjoy a late thanks giving meal!!
Texas,
DeleteYou would think someone might have noticed the tire! I could not walk a half mile if my life depended on it. That is the main reason I keep a cell phone on me at all times.
Thanks. There is an Aldi about three miles from here on the way to lots of places. I won't be shopping there. I prefer certain brands of plastics. In the past I wasted lots of money on cheap plastics. But, thanks.
Right now, I will look for cheap eggs, cheaper than I see lately! I won't cut back or quit buying, just would prefer not to pay the prices.
I still have not made the Thanksgiving meal as I am still taking the antibiotic. It will be good whenever we ever eat it.
I am the same way but I found the aldi products work just as well and save me money. Your are lucky to have Tommy as a back up.
ReplyDeleteI know, I have to get eggs. I just used the last to make french toast and pancakes for the freezer so I have to get more. Funny as it sounds since the dogs next door are driving you crazy. My three are due for their monthly heartworm/flea/tick medication. They prefer to have them in scrambled eggs, instead of me trying to shove it down their throats, so they get eggs! LOL
Texas,
DeleteWhat do you mean about having Tommy as a back up?
Scrambled eggs are delicious. But, it takes time to stand at the stove, so I rarely have them anymore. But, rather than wrestle dogs I would give them eggs!
He is happy to go in the store and get what you need or want when you don't feel well or have the energy to do it. Wish I could send the dogs to the store sometimes. It is can be hard when you are on your own.
DeleteWe both have our strengths. But, I never send him in just because I don't have the energy. I only don't go in if I am ill. Tired? I am always tired.
DeleteGlad you found your bags at a cheaper price. I have found recently that a lot of things are marked up online but are cheaper in the store. Maybe because more people are shopping online?
ReplyDeleteWe had no tornadoes here. Just lots of rain and wind overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. Then the temperature dropped significantly. When I took the kids to school it was 50 degrees. 3 hours later when I went to work it was 30 degrees. And the real feel was 18. Crazy weather. Glad you guys didn't have a tornado where you are.
Rachel,
DeleteThe last time I ordered garbage bags from Amazon, they were cheaper. This time, the order was through another seller. Amazon had none, so maybe that was the reason. not sure.
That is a significant drop. And, that is very cold. We worried but watched the radar until all danger was past.
I am in a rut (of poo), I would use the "sh" word, but I don't even feel like cussing today. I was eating dinner of fried eggs, sunny side up, fairly soft ham, and 2 pieces of bread, and I'll be darn if I chomped on something hard and it was a corner of my farthest back upper molar. First I had that broken tooth sinking feeling, then I called my dentist and he can't fit me in until Tuesday at 4:00. Then I had that, man I hope this thing doesn't start hurting before then. I won't be getting a crown on this one, just too much money with no guarantee, if he can't make a giant filling, I want it pulled. I wish my dentist could do it, but he always sends me to a dental surgeon. The last time I had the very back upper molar on the other side pulled and it was fine for 24 hours and then I woke up near choking on blood. It bled for hours and hours and it was blood not a little blood and the rest saliva. I had a hard time getting it stopped. They thought it was caused by my blood thinner being started too soon after the surgery (per their instructions). I sure don't want that happening on this tooth. My ear feels a little achey and I am betting it is the tooth. This is the second or third time that I have lost a piece of tooth while eating soft, white bread.
ReplyDeleteOur little Fritzi can be yappy, but only bothers us since she is too small to be outside. She is real big on growling. She gets bent out of shape if something is rearranged or something new is brought home and put in an area where she keeps her toys, or especially if one of her toys gets near the dust pan with the long handle. She walks back and forth of stands back if she feels threatened and growls and growls, like a tiny wolf, that little bitty dog thinks her funny sounding little low growls should scare things away so she can rescue her toys. When my husband leaves the house she sits down and puts her little snout in the air and howls three times for him. It is such a little high pitched howl, it's sound doesn't carry very far. She is inside, so her noise is only heard by us.
It is going to be winter time cold here today, I believe, but in the 50's late tomorrow afternoon, unless they have changed the report since I heard it last.
I hope you will feel better today, and the barking dogs will be quiet, so you can get some good sleep in.
Take care and feel better today.
susie,
DeleteMine and John's theory--bread is squishy and gets rammed into the tooth through maybe a fine crack and the hydraulic effect causes it to split off a piece of tooth. That is what we decided happens since his tooth always broke off when eating soft stuff like pasta or bread or rice. Maybe?
That is funny she is threatened by the long handled dust pan. The dogs just generally disturb the peace. I hate having to have that raucous noise all the time and for hours at a time. I hope your tooth lasts until Tuesday. The ear feeling probably is the tooth.
Finally caught up on the last month of your posts. Oy! I'm behind reading everyone's . I hope you start to fell better soon. Here in NY things are cold and wet...as is to be expected in December...but no snow yet.

sassybear,
DeleteIt is getting sort of cold but not to wet except for horrible rain and winds and tornadoes.
I am so sorry about the deaths. I know as a young girl tornadoes terrified me. When we moved out of the Dakotas to Montana I did not miss those sirens.
ReplyDeleteKim,
DeleteI am always sad about any deaths, especially this young boy and his mother in bed for the night. It makes you realize how fragile life is and how dangerous trailer homes are. The siren a block from me was for the whole county and it drove me crazy. Finally, they have more sirens so you are not warned about a twister 40 miles away and heading away from your location.

Tornados are not good.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a dry, sunny, cool day today ... with fog predicted for overnight and early morning.
Your sausage and kale flatbread pizza with broccoli crust sounds very tasty.
All the best Jan
PS Happy December.
Jan,
DeleteDry and sunny are always great. The pizza was surprisingly great. Thanks. Merry Christmas to you!
