Saturday, we went to Cullman. We made the long trip further away to get sandwiches at the Dutch Oven Bakery, ate there, and drove back to Publix and the PO. Back at home I took a long nap. We had Chicken fettuccini with alfredo sauce. When I got up from the nap--3-6 pm--he had decluttered his stuff, his "side" of the living room. Good job! Really, it is just stuff around his chair and spread out.
I called the woman who said she would come on Sunday, and she is still coming. Great!
The dog carcass was gone when we got home. The person/agency I called asked me to whom the dog belonged. I wonder if they were going to have the owners remove it. ???
HOR D'OUVRES<<<<click the blue words. Yes, I misspelled it, but I am not going back to redo the link. It is "oeuvres."
No, I am not making any of these, but these are great ideas. And, no, I don't know where are the recipes. Apparently no one else does!
Do you have a good hor d'oeuvre or appetizer recipe to share?
Well since I make pepper jelly, that would bevan easy one. My pepper jelly is green as it's jalapeno, but still think over cream cheese with berries would be festive, and literally is no work. I use any jelly with ketchup as a sweet sour source for cocktail meatballs or sausages. An easy hot dip for bread slices, chips, or crackers is buffalo chicken - cream cheese, cheddar, ranch dressing, diced chicken, and buffalo sauce, either baked or melted in crock pot. You can do same- cream cheese, chopped spinach, chopped artichokes, garlic and onion powder, with mozzarella and you have hot spinach artichoke dip.my family, both sides, has dozens and dozens of appetizers recipes that are loved in our family. Most are very easy.
ReplyDeleteSAM,
DeleteWhen I made pepper jelly I made red jelly and green jelly and used food coloring in both. Red was very hot, and I never ate it...lol. I ate lots of pepper jelly and cream cheese on crackers. I have made hot spinach artichoke dip and have resorted to eating it with a spoon. It is that good. I don't do buffalo anything but know people who swear by it. I like the looks of the appetizers held together by toothpicks.
If I used pepper jelly over cream cheese, I would not put the berries. I might throw on a few peppers for the look.
I already had planned what I am going to serve, but this article without recipes was in my news feed. It looked so festive.
It's a little old fashioned now but still looks fabulous: cream cheese covered with sweet chilli sauce and roughly chopped cilantro.
ReplyDeleteServe with crackers.
I feel very sorry about the dog, I hope it died quickly
kylie,
DeleteIt may not be a new concoction, but it is delicious, nevertheless. I would love it.
The dog was mangled when we first saw it in the morning, and it did not look like it was hit and flung to the side, so I imagine it died almost instantly, mercifully.
I'm planning on going to my Best Friend's home on Christmas Day. I spent all last week at my Daughter's home while she and her husband were in London. I stayed with their 12 year old boy. I truly enjoyed my time there. BUT I have spent time up there 3 times in the last 2 months. I told her I didn't want to drive up there a 4th time. She asked if they should come here ....I said NO and told her that Frankly I did not want the stress of preparing for company. I am not sure if I hurt her feelings or not. I hope not.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I asked Gretchen, (my Best Friend for the last 35 years) what I could bring to their get together. She suggested wine. I bought the wine and told her I wanted to contribute to the meal. Ken, her husband, is a Texan and will be making brisket. I told her I would make deviled eggs. Men seem to really like deviled eggs! When Gretchen married Ken she was divorced and had 3 young sons. He had 2 young sons....so she raised 5 boys! There should be a lot of men ready to eat deviled eggs. I am also thinking of making a coconut cake to bring along. My former Daughter in law gave me her Grandma's recipe. It is delicious. While I was away she brought me an Amaryllis bulb nestled in gravel in a tall clear vase. The bud is about to open. I think it is a variegated red & white one. I have never had one like this I usually have the red variety.
Janet,
DeleteI hope you did not hurt her feelings. Maybe she does not understand how company can drain a person. She will learn, but it is nice she wanted to come to you on Christmas.
Deviled eggs are always a hit I think. I make them to take places, too. That is a lot of boys to raise! Coconut cake is good! Love it. I did not get an amaryllis this year. Now, I wish I had. I like the pink one--Apple Blossom. Amaryllis are so pretty.
