Salmon, At Last

I felt like I was being discouraged to go to ER. Yet, I was disparaged for not doing so.

"If I have right branch block" They diagnosed the same thing last night. I did not diagnose myself. I doubt two hospitals made the same mistake.

I still did not sleep last night, just over five hours. Today has been tiring. Publix finally had the Double Q Salmon in stock. We both had a bogo rain check, so got 16 cans at $2.25 each. It has a best by date of 9/27, so that is a can every three months to eat it by that date. That won't be hard to do. I can sit and eat it from a bowl straight from the can, eat it in scrambled eggs, salmon croquettes. Tommy will only eat the croquettes.

All the cans were labeled 9/27 top and front as I sat here. Then, I take the bag with four cans and put it on the floor. Between the lifting to my lap and lowering to the floor, I got a workout.

I ordered a pad for sitting. It is really heavy sort of egg carton inside. Tommy has much pain sitting on the walker. I refuse to sit on it at a meal or meeting. So, we have a pad either of us can sit on. I have one not so elegant or cushy, so we can switch off if we need to when we sit at meetings.

Tonight, I will grill meatloaf hamburgers and a piece of beef and the squash I bought last Wednesday, so that will go on the grill, too. We have carrots and broccoli cooked from yesterday. The humidity is so much less, so heat won't be such a problem. First, I need a nap...lol.

I cannot believe that public schools will soon be in session. Do you remember when public schools started back after Labor Day? My mother told me that schools then let out for two weeks for kids to pick cotton. This was in north Mississippi and the Mid-South.

  1. Gee whiz, Linda! I was not questioning whether or not you had that diagnosis! I was not disbelieving you in the slightest! It was meant to be a "Given your situation, you need intervention (and why aren't the doctors doing something)?"

I guess I typed too fast and without thinking carefully. Sorry for being a super horrible person that way.

I completely believe you--I am just wondering how soon the doctors are going to address that diagnosis. It seems pretty serious, and I can't believe that there aren't follow-up plans in place.

And I didn't "disparage" you for not going to the ER. I just said not to let EMTs talk you out of going when you feel really sick, because you are the only one who knows how you feel. How the heck is that disparaging you?!?

Sorry for "insulting" you by caring. :^P

    1. No, I felt like the EMTs were disparaging me!
The follow up plan was simple--go to ER. NOW! I tried.
I am worried for me and so exhausted.

  2. I don't think two hospitals could possibly made the same error.
    A simple EKG would show
    the branch block.
What are they doing to treat this?
    Did they consult a cardiologist?
Take it easy. Try to get some rest
    if you can.

  3. I love salmon patties! I do remember how you mentioned eating the bones, and that is something that both my husband and I agree on - no bones! I guess it's just whatever one gets used to, but I do not want that crunch or maybe resistance is a better word. I must take all of those out before making the patties. He used to not eat them, but in the last few years has come around! I have never tried salmon in scrambled eggs, but just might do that this weekend.

    1. I had a friend who lived with me who refused to eat the bones. So, I told her to take the bones out. She gladly did it. I ate them as a child, so it seemed like the thing to do. And, I love the crunch.

  4. I don't understand why you don't just go to the ER - the hell with whatever or whomever tells you to do otherwise! Why do you care what those EMTs think or say? If you were told to go to the ER then why don't you go?! It makes zero sense to me why you wouldn't insist on going. You said you were worried, so do something about it then! Who cares what anyone else says or thinks - only you know what is best for you so don't let anyone stop you from doing what you know needs to be done. You usually seem pretty headstrong and don't seem to put up with anyone's crap, now is not the time to start! Please prioritize your health and get the care you need now, not later, not when it's convenient for anyone else but right NOW. Sending love, strength and healing vibes your way Linda.

  5. Really irritating...I lived for a while in a state where schools started in August. I thought it was a holdout from agricultural days, when kids would need time off for harvest...nope! It was because the stupid state test was given in April, so they wanted to prepare. Sheesh...any decent curriculum would ha e kids ready for a standardized test WITHOUT cramming/teaching to the test.

    1. Meg,
That is a ridiculous reason. Maybe they did have the curriculum and the teachers were afraid they could not teach enough. That is not necessary.

  6. The teachers are going back to work this week. School seems like work in America - almost nonstop now.

    1. It is way too soon and too hot for school. Of course, when I started to school and even through last year of high school, there was no ac.

  7. I was told schools are starting earlier so end of term finals could be given before winter break.

    1. Angie,
I remember in hs when were out for Christmas break and had exams about a week after returning in January. I always thought that was not good. Of course, we were told to study over Christmas, but who does that?
